If you've got nothing to do on the weekend of May 1-3, come on down to River Rock in Milledgeville for an awesome time! I have been to last 4 big events at River Rock and have always had a blast. There are tons of super nice rigs to drool over and crazy drivers to watch, and some how with all these rigs out there, the trails never get too packed to ride. There is plenty of room here and bypasses if you would only like to spectate and cruise the trails watching the big guys.
http://www.riverrockorv.com/
Gates will open at 8:00am Friday for registration, riding to begin at noon. Gates will close at 4:00 Sunday.
Entry Fee is $45.00 cash.
Spectator Fee is $15.00 cash.
New Rule: "MANDATORY OPERABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS MUST BE IN VEHICLE OR THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON TRAILS, NO EXCEPTIONS."
Primitive camping is free. Camping sites with power/water hookups is $35.00 for Friday thru Sunday and must be reserved in advance. Space is limited
Concessions will be provided on Saturday. (Damn good ribs, hot dogs, burgers and such...)
***This is not the Georgia Trail Riders exclusive ride for the month of May. Just a great time at a great park. Hope to see you guys there. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
***Here's a couple pics from the last crawl:

I don't know but it's a XJ so you know it's COOL, maybe not as COOL as the red XJ's. The driver of the White looks a little ...
I will also try and be there for some riding and picture taking.

A little what Mark? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the same guy I saw you riding around with at D-Town? And you guys got separated from the group for a while... what happened there? ;D

I'll never tell, and yea that's the same guy.

Daniel, there were 0 banjo's involved. I donno what you and Matt do in the woods...
I have finals starting that Monday (I did last year too), but I will atleast come down for Saturday. I doubt that white XJ will make it though.
-
So who's all coming? {letseat}
Should be a good one. Drew and I found a sweet new run that we need to make. You run most of 7 and then kick out at the end where we usually finish and watch the big boys fail at climbing those nasty rocks going up the hill, but there's about 30 more minutes of a nice natural rock trail that continues on that side of the gas line. I can't believe I've never ridden on it before. We started to do it today while we were down there installing Drew's new seats, but his Cherokee just about ran out of gas on that first big ledge on 7 :D So then we just did a couple doughnuts and called it a day. But we need to hit that on Saturday sometime or whenever we have a good bit of folks with us.
Ben, remember where you ripped the license plate off of Livingston's nice new Rubicon? ;D Well it's the trail that went down to the right after that. There's a pretty good bit of trail that runs back in the woods back there and comes out on up the gas line.
-
I will let you know soon if I am in. {toast}

Look forward to riding. Where is Mike D hiding, is he going to make 1 day of the crawl?
Will you going to get some kind of check in started so we can figure out who is riding and what days.
-
I may have to make a showing down there as well. Just got to check the funds
-
I'll be there on Sunday, but can't swing any other days. :'(
-
Looks like I'll be there on Saturday. Haven't being off road in more than a year.

Well you could run it if you came down! Tell Emily that if she comes down with you well cuss a lot so she can make some money ;D
I finally found the video of the Bronco on 54" Boggers that rolled at the last Spring Crawl. I've only been looking for a year ::) You guys know that pics and vids do no justice. You could feel the ground move under you when this thing hit the top. Any ways, here it is. This is the little climb on the back side of Tiger.

so if I make it down can I clear this trail 7 and new section around the gas line? I am trying to make it down for at least a day.

one of the guys in a silver '04 Unlimited stopped by to invite me to come along with them this weekend to River Rock. I didnt connect it with the Crawl. the guy's roommate is friends with me.... however, The wife and I are already arranged to be in Gatlinburg on Friday. >:(
i miss another one. dangit.
i guess it just given me more time to make mods to the JK.

I have been looking at this jeep for a while and someone wanted my YJ so I jumped all over this TJ. I bought it from a guy who lived in South carolina, but I know this jeep has been offroad alot before I bought it so you probably saw it somewhere.
-
I'll actually be able to make it to this River Rock run on Saturday. Lookin forward to meeting some more of you guys.
If it's anything like the last Durhamtown trip, I'll be good showing up at 12 right? ;D

There will be plenty of riding all weekend ;)

The XJ is working out well for me so far. You picked up a nice TJ there and knowing you it was probably at a good price. I take it we will get to see it this weekend?
-
Ah, I won't be able to make this one...
Parents are coming into town to visit, the air show is this weekend on base.
-

-

Yep. $45 per rig. The $15 spectator fee is just for folks coming in who aren't planning on wheeling. That's to keep the place from getting too crowded.
-
Will, where do we GATR guys meet you for the free viewing? :D
-
Haha, Well since I'm working for Steve all weekend and don't have a truck, I'm guessing that whoever I'm riding in with has a good chance. :D
-
free?
-
free?
I'm working at the crawl, so yeah I'm getting in for free, but I won't be riding.
-
We are heading down friday night so do we checkin there and where will people from here be i have never been to this park before......Thanks
-
Everybody pays at the gate when they come in. Keep driving on that main trail until you get back to the center of the park. This is the main camping area, there will be tents, campers and rigs all over the place.
Who all is gonna be riding on Friday?

So if I come in the Heep on 35's with beadlocks, are they going to believe me that I am only there to speculate, uh spectate?

It does look stock when I'm at River Rock compared to those beasts!

i'm planning on being there around noon on friday, key word there is "planning". i was just notified that i need to be in Pa. on monday so i need to keep my schedule flexable.

I'll be there Friday night, not sure what time though. As for where I'm camping, I usually try and set up my tent near the trees at the top of the parking area, but I don't know where I'll be this time, since I'm sure it will be more busy than when I'm usually there.
Will, do you know what time ya'll will be manning the booth at the front till? I don't know how late I will roll in.
-
Just trying to clear this up sorry i no i asked it but me my dad and bro are in my truck so that is 45 dollars???? Just making sure
-

-
THANKS! I can not wait to fourwheel, Wanna try the new tires.
-
hey Will- im riding friday- ill be there first thing in the am to set up tent! {toast}
-
Will the this club ride or camp together
-
We always try to ride together, but it's not a club function. Camping at the big events is kind of first come first serve. I will be down Friday in the morning unless it's raining or we have heavy rain the end of the week. Not aiming to spend 2 days cleaning my stuff back up.
-
ILl try to grab a good spot and save some spots- Will, could you post up the banner that yall had at the car show over near a spot to camp- that way we can know were most of us can meet - and what time are you planing on getting ther Will
-
I still have the banner, I doubt I will see Will before this weekend. I have some other obligations to attend this weekend so I will not be there. :'(
-
Im going to mineral bluff this after noon or somtime tomorrow- i can meet you some where and pick it up from you and take if to Will. call me - 478-318-0249--- i think it would be alot easier for us to be able to gather up down there with a sign like that plus good publicity!! {toast}
-

Bring it to work tomorrow. Who can take it down Friday?
-
IM going down friday in the morning- ill be there at like 10
-
That will make it alot easier if i see your green jeep i will come over we are coming down friday afternoon i will be in the only dodge ram in the park (that is four wheeling)
-
Will, do you know what time ya'll will be manning the booth at the front till? I don't know how late I will roll in.
He usually has somebody up there pretty late. If for some reason the gate is closed just give me a call.
and what time are you planing on getting ther Will
I should be out there pretty early on Friday.
If anybody has a problem finding the group when they get down to the main field, just give me a call and I'll point ya in the right direction. And another thing, while everybody's on the trails, if you see anything that needs attention put to it, like a big fluid spill or a recovery needing the back hoe, give me a holler. I'm gonna try to ride along on the trails and spot for you guys as much as I can, but I'm on the payroll so I'll probably be running all over the park for most of the weekend.
Anyways, looking forward to seeing everybody this weekend! There is a small chance of scattered T-storms, but hopefully if anything does come it won't last for long. There should be a lot of great wheeling this weekend {toast}
-

The directions include "from Atlanta" and has the exit number from I-20 ;) But Google Maps is always your friend too.
If anybody needs anything, my number is in the members' section. I should be out there before lunch tomorrow. I just got done writing a paper and I'm about to hit the sack. Kyle and Drew are out there right now and are gonna try to get a good spot for those that wanna stay together around other GATR members. If they are not there in the morning when you arrive, look for Drew's trailer. It's very long and should have 2 beat to crap XJs on 33s on/around it. One is green/blue and has Swampers and "JUNK" stickers on the back window. The other is a new addition and I have no idea what color it is :D Feel free to set up camp around there, but leave a little room so that they can get Jeeps on/around the trailer. Alrighty, I've been typing all freakin' day so I'm hitting the sack and I'll see you guys at the river! :)

So which way are you going because these are the directions I already suggested? It takes 50 minutes to get to the gate at River Rock from exit 114 on I-20 coming down 441.
-
Headed out now got to get food then will see yall there.
-
Apparently, its $15 for passengers this year. This is the first year they've ever done this, so sorry for the miscommunication.
-
Well just turned in a paper I'm 90% sure I bombed :bs), I should be headed up in an hour...
-
Just got home a few minutes ago, big crowd lots of large rigs. Steve has reworked evry trail, any line you used last time is going to be the wrong line this time. I think we may have worked things out so I will be back down in the morning. Donna and I will prob. make it down by around 10:30.

DANG! I should have brought yo stuff! See ya there. Linda says you must come back out to the lake. She behaved terribly last time. :D :D
-
Will be there Saturday in the am insted of Sunday. See you'll there.
-
About to take off and wake up all the hung over campers!
-
Fun day wtching folks. Great weather and Great Company. There has been a little GTR carnage, but not nearly as much as Rices Creek. I think Calvine got an issue with his T/C, and Richard somehow gernaded a ujoint in a front drive shaft but didn't break either the inner or outer shaft, managed to get another ujoint in it and weld it in place. Heading back down Sunday to take my daughter down, hopefully there will still be some buggies beating on stuff. No pictures today, I left the camera at the house.
-
Well I'm back, I ended up having to take the long way back, because the Jeep developed a shimmy at above 45 so no interstate. I'll upload my pics after I get some rest.
-
Just twisted my driveshaft pics coming soon
-
How the hell did you do that Richard?
I got a nail in a tire on the Dodge. Its not leaking air so I am going to leave it since I am putting new tires on next month.
We have had more carnage in the past 4 months than all of 2008 I think, lol.
-
I just made it back and unloaded a little bit ago. I had a blast, and it was great meeting some of y'all finally! ;D I'll have to work on the pics later tonight! Hope you made it home ok Richard!
-
That was awesome!! Got some carnage and had a ball doing it nice to meet all of you guys, ;D
-
Here's the link to the few pics I got
http://s371.photobucket.com/albums/oo153/georgiaboy_88/Spring%20Crawl/
And here's a pic of my carnage
(http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo153/georgiaboy_88/Spring%20Crawl/DSCN0290.jpg)
On the left is what a normal motor mount should look like. On the right is all of the pieces of mine that I could find.
Also I finally figured out what was causing my shimmy. The joint at the top of my trac-bar is completely shot.

I had a great time this weekend also, I hung out all 3 days, cruised the bypasses and watched lots of climbs. Kind of sad not trying them and it took a lot of restraint not to hit a few in the YJ, but I didn't even get mud on my tires until I let Will drive it over to Steve's shop (LOL). I have to thank Will and Steve for letting Will take my daughter out in the TJ today. I will get pictures from Friday and today posted soon. None took Sat. because I wasn't smart enough to bring my camera. Great to meet the new guys and see old friends.
Two green XJ's tried to make the powerline hill, the one with a girl driving made it, Great job Nicole.
-

My wife and I had a blast this weekend. Although I broke several items. We enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Those of you who didnt come you missed a very fun and exciting weekend/day.
I would tell everyone about it but I dont feel like typing that much.
So I will tell you what I broke.
First I bent my tie rod on the hill beside Tie rod hill. This happened within the first 10 min of riding Friday.
Second Came my Pass. axle u-joint on the hill beside the rat hole. This happened Sat. About mid day.
Third was my driveshaft and that happened around midnight Sat. On the same hill beside the rat hole although it was in a different spot from above.
I wish I could say I broke it from horsepower or torque or that it broke when I went through the rat hole but the truth is It had just rained and we thought we would go night riding well them rock get very slippery and I slid off one and landed on the driveshaft ending my riding and the start of recovery and getting my rig home.
Thanks Jimmy for getting me a ujoint in less than a hour.
Thanks Mike(GusaGus) for helping me get the axle fixed and hanging beside me the whole time.
Thanks Mark, Will, Drew, Ryan, Kevin,and David(Ramit)and anybody else that was there for getting me out of the hole/home . I will return the favor. {toast}
And last but not least all of the outstanding members of Georgia Trail Riders and their wives/girlfriends that made my wife's first time out a wonderful experience. Despite sat night. :o
Here are some of my fav. pics.

Did Kevin make it? If he did I am going to have to try it again next time because I'm the jealous type. ;D
I got my mirror back in place and managed to convince my wife of the need for sliders and some fender trimming, so I'll get something in return for leaning on that wall. ;D

haha, I had a great time! Thanks again for everyone that came out, and for eveyone who let me bum a ride throughout the weekend! It was a good weekend; everyone got their junk home safely, and we had great weather besides the little rain on Saturday night. Mark, that was super cool of you for letting Richard use your trailer. We'll see you guys next time! :) I'll have my Jeep back so it's gonna be on! {woohoo}

go fix your red turd already! ;D-- you think you could use the frame brace?
-
Here we go, Mark ;D
You know what it was, it was the hydro on that thing. Normally I would have noticed the resistance in the steering wheel. I didn't even know I was climbing the wall til I was looking at the sun. Not like my Jeep would have hopped up there like that though :D

i made it back to the house in one piece although the jeep is a little wet seems i drove through all the rain till i got to the house. all in all a great weekend, wish i had stayed, my flight ended up getting delayed till close to 7:00 PM, and didn't get to the hotel till after midnight >:(.
hopefully next trip i'll be able to stay for the whole weekend.
edit: for got to mention the carnage that i know about, side marker poped out, broke an air line, caved in rear diff cover and a busted shock mount. might be more once i get the dirt and mud out of it when i get back.
-
AWWWWWWW- your poor little side marker-- {toast}-- glad you made it back safe- cant wait til we all can ride again! {popcorn}-- ill post up the pics of your breakege tonight.

This is a great picture. Too bad y'all missed the obstacle {nln} Just kiddin'. I didn't see anybody make it up carnage this weekend. Saturday night the locals hopped on it and ragged their Toyota's out on it, but it was just a little too wet.

The three behind the samurai made it and then there were a couple more at the end of the line that made it. It did claim two victims though. {letseat}
-
yeah there were few that climb it sat. But a guy in a little yellow toyota buggy with some 33 a/t made everyone look dumb {salute}, he crawled right up it with no prob {toast}
-
Sweet, wish I would have been over there. The best climb I've ever seen up was Mike (Rotorhead)'s JK going up it with absolutely no spin. It maybe lasted 7 seconds from when he lined up to get to the top {toast}
-
Thats about the same deal with that Toyota buggy ,dowork114 aka Roger ;D, is talking about. He just pulled up to it toke a totally different line then everyone else and walked right up it. He made it look so easy that I almost wanted to try it. {whack3} {hardlaugh}
-
yep the line is the key to crawlin ;D i still cant get over he made it up it on a/t street tires {no} :fu( {eek}
-
looks like it was fun, wish i could have come. i planned on being there but my grandfather has had a stroke and we dont expect him to hang on much longer so i am trying to spend time with him and the family as much as i can right now. i wanna show off the tacoma so bad and see what it can do but seems i never can get to any of the runs hese days.
-
sorry to hear about your grandfather, we will pray for him.
