I would really like to make a day trip over to this event. Just to give some support and check out the event. Light wheeling and just hanging for the day on Saturday. It will probably be pretty packed
Anyone else interested ?
-
Ill be there. Hopefully with some brakes working in the buggy. I discovered their weakness on this

October is packed for me, but I might be able to swing a Saturday ride.
I am evidently a beta user of Tapatalk 4 even though I paid for the software...this software is buggy.

While we are talking chocco don't forget about the santa crawl in december. I want to say its the first weekend. One unwrapped $20 toy gets you in

Might try and make it for Sat only. With GATR-FEST the next weekend it will be tough.

Heading over Saturday fir a day trip to support this event. Bobby is going as well, anyone else?
-
I am out. Got to replace drive side wheel hub assembly on the pig and I am going to do the ball joints while I got it broke down that far

I may be able to go. I'll know for sure on Friday. I'd like to caravan, if I can go.
-
Well see how the pinion seal turns out Friday night. Also might not have the spare change to go...
-
When will you guys be going over? I'd like to do this myself

We are going to meet up at the Raceway(I think thats the name) gas station at the corner of hwy 113 and 278 in Rockmart....probably at 10am and we'll head out from there. Chocco is about an hour from that location, give or take a few minutes.
-
Alrite I'll let you know for sure by Friday night at the latest, but I'm planning on going at this point. I'll be towing my jeep there, too far, burns too much gas
-
I'm 99% likely to go too. If I get the required stuff in time, I'll be towing also. I'll be at the gas station by 10 am.
-
Man, of all rides, I'd sure love to be on this one.

It's going to be pretty well jam packed, really not a trip where you can get in a ton of wheeling. But it's a great cause and a great park. Hopefully we'll be able to wheel a little and see some buggys get after it.
-
That's what I was thinking too. Wanna watch some buggys hit it. What is light wheeling for a Rubi JKU suppacharged on 37's with all kind of armor compared to a little XJ? Haha
I'd like to ride around with you as long as we don't accidentally go up some red hills like the night ride. Ha
-
I will be there Friday.

Yea. Should be there around lunch or after on Friday and staying until the raffle and dinner is over with on Saturday.

How did the pinion seal go?

Still thinking about trying to make this. Just not sure considering how packed it will be.
Either way happy birthday tony!! Hopefully see you tomorrow

That's my concern also...slammed. but I want to get out and I want to see the buggies go crazy!

Friday wasn't packed but how today will turn out I'm not sure.

Well, the jeep is loaded and I'll be heading to Rockmart in about 30 mins!

How did the pinion seal go?
Pinion nut wouldn't budge. Filled it up with oil and Allsouth will deal with it next Friday AM before GATR fest. I'm installing sliders then heading that way
-
Plently of parking at the top of the hill to the left. Right side is packed out.

Oh crap. That's not good one week before GATR Fest.
-
Yep and I've already started taking it apart. If I can find a windsheild frame I'll be there. The dana 44 with disc brakes will be under it too. Can't say enough thank you's to Bobby And Tony and Adam for getting it back on tires. Had a good time rite up to that point. Been working on a bottle of Captn and the jeep. Huntin parts now
-
Good day was good

Is Trip part of GATR? I want to know what tires he had on that jeep.
-
37x12.5x15 Red Label Krawlers
Stickies do work.

Was he running his BFG red label stickies?

I figured that was him.
Yep, he was running red labels today.

Glad everybody is alright. How did the roll over happen?

I'm on here. They are the famous red label stickies in the 37" flavor. Work like a champ. They did there best work down in bottom of hells revenge today.

Cheater tires are the way to go! I got them in the 39.5" flavor
Roll over sucks. Any cage or stock roll bar?

Ok, I didn't put it together that Trip was Mortalis! I kept wondering if we were going to see Mortalis. Lol.
I was so damn impressed with those tires...I know what I'm getting now. :) You would slip for a second and then just pull right up a boulder...awesome to see in action.
Some great driving also, of course. ;)

It was stock roll bar and windshield.
-
ok, reality has set in...I think. Do I have to run 37" or greater to get Red Label Krawlers? Can I actually buy them? I saw some stuff on the web about having to have sponsorship and be a competitor.
-
Look around on CL, every now and them they pop up. I wouldn't put 37's on a D30 though... Lemme look around for ya
-
And u can't run them on the street. ..

Yep, they'll be gone real quick.
Trip had 17's, my bad on that. The smallest you can get them in is a 35x13.5x15, so you'll probably want a 10" wide wheel.
Bring your spare shafts.
-
I saw blue label in the 35" variety on many tire sites, but not red label...based on reading stuff on pirate. I will not go to 37s any time soon, so if I can't get red label in 35s, then I'll be looking for another tire. I'll probably have two sets of tires, one for street and one for play. I only do about 4k per year on the jeep, so regular tires usually rot before i wear them out (kind of joking), which is why I'm not worried about tread life.
Where did you find red labels for 35s on 15s?
-
I saw a CL add for a set about a month ago, sometimes they pop up on Chattanooga or Knoxvilles CL's more often.
Looks like BFG wants to keep their red labels to competition rigs or with sponsorships like you said. Obviously you can get the Blue's...
I vote to try out the Maxxis Creepy Crawler stickies.
-
I would check the tire weight more than the size. I can say my 39's are just stupid heavy. If you going to reds might as well run beadlocks so that's even more weight. Pretty sure swampers, pro comp, maxxis and someone else makes a sticky so check there as well

There are a lot of posts about maxxis treps that indicate they are second in line to krawler RLs. I know they are a lot cheaper.
-
35" Red's are 80lbs each. I agree with the bead locks.
Go creepies!
-
80lb tire with lots of traction and the weight of beadlocks would be a lot on a D30 fo sho

As usual...champagne taste, water budget, and a 104 year old's time line.
-
They don't make the 35" reds anymore I don't think. They come in a 15" rim, and sometimes can be found on pirate. 37's only come in 17" and the same with 39's. They make 42 but they are 20" rim.
To get red labels you need to be a sponcered racer by bfg or else know someone. I can get new one's but they aren't cheap, but like jemery said they are a trailer only tire. Used ones can be found on pirate and hardline. I bought mine on hardline. These tires work the best at close to half tread and down.
Your drive train is in constant bind in a way. Yes, my 37's are too big for the rubi axles, but with the fact of having a trailer, chromoly rear, and rcv front I'm ok if something goes, but damn if they just don't make the jeep crawl like a mountain goat.
Another option are the bfg krawlers that you can find at 4 wheel parts and the likes, know as blue lables. They aren't as good as the red's but they way better than the km2. These are the street version of the red labels with the same tread design. The rubber is a little harder because they can be ran on the street but still pretty soft. They will wear quicker than the average mud tire. I bought a 37" blue lable as my spare.

Maxxis tires are heavy. They work the best over a red when it straight slop but any other day, a red will own it.
If your not driving much then buy the blues. They will make a difference over what you have. Buy a warranty with them due to the krawlers don't have the strongest side walls, and includes the red.
You can get away without beadlocks. Krawlers don't need single digit psi to work. I was 12.5 front and 11.5 rear yesterday. A nice aluminum rim will work to start with.
