Title: ARB Deal at JCWhitney - Am I reading this correctly..?
Post by: 94xjsport94 on January 20, 2014, 11:03:22 PM
Someone posted this on CF, but I don't think this adds up at all. The description doesn't seem right. I couldn't justify the money, but damn.

ARB's for $377?

The kit for the Ford 8.8 is RD81...which normally goes for about $900...but on JCW it is $377.  Unreal...

I am seriously considering ordering it and building another 8.8, then selling mine.  I can tolerate what i have, but being selectable back there would be awesome.  Then I would need a new truss, brake stuff, master install kit, etc = PITA.

What to do???

I am surprised this thread hasn't gotten any traction.  It must be a title issue versus content.

It just seems too good to be true...I wonder if they are rebuilt lockers after a return for failure.

I'm Def buying one if they're on 377 that's nuts. I had plans on building and 8.8 anyway. This makes it even better!!

What's the normal price for the D30? http://www.jcwhitney.com/arb-air-locker/p2028453.jcwx?skuId=3035314&filterid=d57148y2002g80j4

Is that a good deal? Also 377

$750 to $900.

It appears there is another 10% off if you use their code.

Order one maybe its stale inventory, but I doubt they even have them in stock. Their purchasing department would probably call and order them from ARB and the find out the price is way off and cancel your order and fix the price or call and tell you it will be more money if you still want it.

Those prices are nuts.  ALLSOUTH should STOCK UP.

That's what I was getting at, maybe that's the catch?
Order one for the lower gear and wonder what the price is?

I saw the carrier break issue on some axles...

Wish I had tons, I'd scoop these things up for em in a heartbeat at this price. ARB compressor ain't much.

For what you save on the arb you could get air and still not spend full price

People on CF ordered these. I'm worried they would be  Chinese copy of an ARB, but I don't know... I wish I knew what tons I was on a end up with.

I'm going to pass.  My rule, which I nearly violated, is that if something is too good to be true, then I should avoid it at first and then wait for it to come back around.

I'm interested in hearing from those who order under this deal.

My good friend and his buddy just ordered one for 60's.

I'm buying 2 and going to sit on them till i break my tj rubicon lockers. If they are not what they are suppose to be I will be returning them. I checked the policy and I have 30 days to get it back to them. I loose out on shipping but I'll take the gamble. The rd117 is what I need and those are on sale. Buy the compressor when I need to.

Buying 2 lockers is still cheaper than 1 at normal price. The tj rear rubi locker is know to be weak with the built in lsd function.

14B in the rear...so pull the trigger on that one at least.  Just force this to make your decision for you.  Go automatic locker in the front.  Then you can at least drive the XJ beast on the street comfortably.

Two pennies.

They dont have an ARB for a 14B with anything higher than 4.10's... Or the Sterling 10.5 rear. Only 60's... Damn it.

Front would be nice, but it has manual hubs so being welded shouldnt be a big deal. Oh well, life goes on.

Everyone who can should take advantage of this, I'm not even charging a fee!

You can't use the 10% with the ARB, I guess they figured they are discounted enough. LOL.

For the rubi locker, it says 373 and down ratio...it was too good to be true.

Use thick cut gears.

Use it with thick gears.  Done. Same trippy is doing.

Get RD117 for the TJ rubi. The rear locker is weak. The fronts are actually pretty good. Many people put the front in the rear. I bought 2 at that price. I could sell my rubi lockers and compressor and break even with a better set up.

You can get RD116, which is the bigger carrier, for cheaper than all other sites I found via google shopping ($624 vs $1K).  I like the idea of the smaller carrier with thick cut gears.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills, I can't figure the site out for the life of me. I want to order 2 for my xj but I have no clue what my D70 came out of in rear and I can't search by axle type only vehicle type. Also have a kingpin 60 front, but whenever I search 78-79f250 it just shows me D44 options. This is frustrating haha

Figure it out on ARBs site and then search for the arb part number on jcw.

I'm pretty sure there is some clause in their terms that they are "not responsible" for "price misprints" and I am 100% sure that if it was OVER priced, we wouldn't hear a peep.

They have encountered this issue multiple times before, based on a google search, so I think BW has it nailed.

HMMMM...

Every mail order/internet site has a disclaimer. Something about doing their best to make sure all information is accurate however they are not responsible for typos/ommisions/etc. Accidents do happen. This was not a deliberate trap set to catch gullible shoppers. I don't think they or you if your a business owner would eat $2-300 per unit because of a typo. Much easier to cancel the order, no harm done to either party. You all know how much these sale for and assumed this was probably a fluke to begin with, so don't be disappointed and think they owe you something.  //cheers2//

What I read on another site about a similar situation is that after some negotiation, the person was able to talk JCW into giving a 20% off the real price for the part ordered...which was still a better price than anywhere else.
