Driving on the beach is so much fun. I went down to Daytona back in 06 for the race and we took the Jeep.
Dodging little kids=not fun.
Pulling a stuck S-10 on airbags out of the sand=fun.

Haha meg is probably the same way... I got to talk to her. Normally we go to Country Fair that weekend but Country Concert < Beach vacation with Jeeps and possible wheeling spot. If anything we can go wheel and the women folk can go tan.

Ha, I understand. The LaQuinta is the sponsored hotel for this thing and they are having a pool party one night for all of the jeeper's. I think this is where we are going to stay if they have room.

Chuck- I am going to try damn hard to make this one. I would like to think I could prep the wife for this one, but its still to far in advance for me to give a green light. Hell, I would like to see just me and Dewild motorcade down without them but that would have disaster written all over it!! ;D I will keep you posted!

I saw Jeff (Rooster) while I was down in Daytona last weekend. He's the president of the mid florida jeep club. I know him from jkowners and met him at River Rock when they were here. He's been trying to get some of us to come down, but I didn't figure any of you home body's would stray that far from momma's cooking.
If you guys think we could get a decent group together, we could probably get involved a little and maybe get some discounts or something.

I would love to. Basically I got to decide either camping at Cumberland island in March or Jeep week. By the time I finish buying camping gear, pay the ferry, campsite and to charter our bikes I could afford the beach. Just would like an idea of who before I cancel Cumberland.

The weekend after Jeep Week we are suppose to be going up to Maryland for a cousin's graduation from college and work would not be cool with me taking off the Thursday/Friday for that trip AND whatever days I would need to Jeep Week... Turns out Megan's sister's graduation is the same weekend as the cousins graduation so if her sister decides to walk there will be no MD trip and then I can take off Friday and Monday to go to Jeep Week!!!!!!! {letseat}

Mike, discounts on what? Most of the motels in the area will give you a discount, you just have to make sure you tell them you are there for Jeep Beach. I already have a room at the LaQuinta Inn. They are the host motel and are having a pool party that Sunday.

Ok so here is a silly question for us non beach folks... How packed is the sand there? Don't want to go driving and be "that guy" who got stuck. But for all I know we might stop air down and put in 4wd before going out...

ok. Megan asked. She is good to go so we hinge on the whole graduation thing so sometime mid March I will let you know!
Also, going to contact the camp ground... it says $22 per person per night to camp but then a little further down the page it says price is for 2 adults. I will gladly camp for $22 a night with showers, bathrooms, pool, ect over the hotel price but if its $44 a night, not sure. I would imagine the ocean breeze keeps the place cool at night. It says avg high temps are 78 so not bad.

well after a picture of the beach Megan is pretty much sold on this one. She said for all she cares we can screw the Cumberland trip, save the money for Daytona and if need be she will go to MD on her own for the graduation. I will still probably wait till March till reserve but we will probably do the La Quinta.. I mean $57 a night, 10 minutes from the beach and right by the race track... cant beat it. Mike you gonna haul down the camper or hotel it?

Anyways, trying to plan ahead. What days to folks plan to take off work and possible caravan down? I was planning Friday and Monday since registration doesn't open till Friday afternoon (I think) and Sunday is the Jeep parade and don't want to miss that.

From what I can see on our map program at work it looks like 6.5-7 hours with a 30 minute break. I use to work in Jacksonville so the time sounds about right.

Not gonna drag the camper down. It's too far. I would use enough gas to pay for a hotel. I'll either tent camp or get a hotel. I may be up for splitting a room with somebody if I don't have any pax.

Megan said something about splitting a room to cut cost down. Not like anyone will spend much time in a room that weekend! I am still trying to push camping for $15 a night... They got showers, bathrooms and a general store... Come on, can't be easier than that!

I spent every Spring Break since I was 16yrs old in Daytona Beach. Looking back I wonder why I never understood that you get arrested for an open beer, even if it is in a dixie cup..... Oooooooh the memories!

My wifes family lives in Orange Park, Fl. just out south of Jacksonville, Fl.... Drop the kids off at Grandma & Grandpa's house and wala.... BeAcH pArtY hErE wE cOmE...
From Dacula, Ga. to Orange Park, Fl. is 385 miles and Daytona Beach, Fl. is another 40miles or so. When I drive w/o the kits to my mother & father-in-law it takes me aprox. 6hrs and with the kids aprox. 7hrs.
I would like to take back roads and stay off the hwy. Leave Friday early morning and drive down to Daytona Beach, stay Fri, Sat & Sunday then drive home on Monday. It's a long ride for just one day.

Anyone want to take back roads? No hwy to Florida, 441 is a nice road to drive then cut over on I-10. Also could drive toward Savanna then down I-95 to Daytona.

Not sure when we will head out. A friends uncle has a condo in New Smyrna Beach about 20 miles south of Daytona. If the price is cheap enough we will probably head out Thursday after work so when we wake up Friday morning we are on the beach! That's the plan anyways...

Sounds FUN! My husband and I are new to the Jeep world...We wanna have some crazy times! We are right off of I-95 exit 6 in GA. About 2hrs from Daytona Beach.
I have to talk to the hubby and see what he says. Money's tight but we might have to make miracles happen and swing it!

Alright so we are a month out on this... Who all plans to make this? Megan and I will be there unless I magically get a job between now and then that doesn't let me off. I saw somewhere the rates for the laquinta go up April 15th and registration goes up May 1st.
Anyone want to share a hotel room with me and meg or anyone camping? Got a friend with a beach house but it's like a 30 minute drive... I plan to stay Friday night through Sunday night.

Sounds to me like you need register online and once you get down there you check in on Friday or Saturday morning but you probably should email them for sure. I know registration goes up may 1st.
I plan to head out of Atlanta Friday morning. Just got to decide if I want to go early before traffic or late after morning after traffic. Probably will end up going early to get max beach time.

As host of Jeep Beach™, the Mid-Florida Jeep Club has developed a fun filled weekend geared for all Jeep® owners. With the setting being next to Lake Lloyd in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway and the all new obstacle courses, this will be an event to remember! Don’t miss the opening social, obstacle courses, vendor fair, Show-n-Shine, Jeep Beach™, Night @ The Plaza, beach parade and pool party.
Pre-registration deadline is May 1st. Pre-registration has several benefits: prices are discounted, allows you to pre-order your collectible event shirt, guarantees your entrance into Jeep Beach™, Night @ The Plaza, and entitles your group consideration for the group incentive.
The 2009 Jeep Beach™ beneficiary charity is Hospice of Volusia County. Below is the Jeep Beach™ 2009 activities schedule.
Friday – May 15th
Registration and Opening Social:
2:00 PM to 8:00 PM: Registration will be at LaQuinta and the Reception at Wing House on International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach. At registration, get your Jeep Beach™ schedule and event credentials. At the social, check out the 2009 Jeep Beach™ merchandise and grab a bite to eat!
Saturday – May 16th
Registration:
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Daytona International Speedway at the Turn 1 tunnel off of Williamson Blvd. Registration will close promptly at 11:00 AM.
Obstacle Course:
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM – Infield of the Daytona International Speedway. There will be obstacles for all types of jeeps – from stock to modified. The last Jeep® will enter the obstacle course at 3:00 PM, no exceptions. **SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW
Show-n-Shine and Vendor Fair:
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM – Infield of the Daytona International Speedway. Bring your Jeep® for the Jeep Beach™ Show-n-Shine and vendor fair!
Show-n-Shine awards will be announced at 3:30 PM. Participants will be voting on the People’s Choice award. To encourage participation, all participants who place a vote will receive a ticket for a special raffle prize.
The Jeep Beach™ vendor fair will be set-up in the infield. There are several vendors signed up to attend the event: Rusty’s, Jeeper’s Den, 4Wheel Parts, SuperChips, Sloppy Holes/Mud Hunnies, Airbrush Factory, Wilson’s 4x4 and Tina’s Noveltees, More to be announced.
Reminder – there are no coolers allowed at the Speedway. Food and beverages will be available through the Speedway vendor. We are working on a meal package especially for Jeep Beach™.
Kid’s Activities:
There will be several activities to keep the kids entertained during the day at the main event, including a bouncy house, an inflatable slide, and snow cones.

**We are partnering with the track designers at the speedway. They have committed to allowing us to use the dirt that they keep for the Supercross races. We have been collecting items for the last six months including timber, concrete poles, concrete light stands and 120 yards of broken concrete. Together, we are building dirt hills with off-camber type activities, dirt mounds for articulation, dirt hills, dirt and concrete hills, concrete crawling sections and timber sections. We are in discussions on a mud pit, but that has not been finalized to date. These items will be arranged for stock to modified Jeeps and possibly an extreme section.
The final development will not occur until the week prior to the event. This is not a guarantee of the courses, but insight into what we are working on right now
5:00 PM – all Jeeps must be out of the infield.
Jeep Beach™, Night @ The Plaza:
7:00 PM – Pre-registered participants are invited to a Cocktail Reception at The Plaza Resort and Spa on A1A. A section of the pool area at the hotel will be reserved exclusively for Jeep Beach™ participants. The hotel will provide heavy hors d’oeuvre. At 8:30 PM, a kid-friendly movie will be shown in the pool area at the “Dive In Theatre”.
Sunday - May 17th
Jeep Beach™ Parade:
Ever see 100s of Jeeps® cruising down the beach at once? Join us in turning heads on the beach, and don’t forget the cameras. Final parade details to be provided at registration.
Jeep Beach™ Closing Party:
Immediately following the parade, our closing party will be held at the pool at the LaQuinta on 2725 International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32124.

I ran this trip past my daughter since I'll have her that weekend and she has a concert with the choir from school so she can't go.
She gave me the nod to go without her if I wanted. Now I just need to see if the ex will switch weekends with me.

awesome awesome. I have an interview with the panel Thursday so after that I hope to get an idea of how long the process can take to get in and should be able to clear Jeep Beach easy.

JEEP beach is right around the corner!!
If my husband can get off work I'm going to make him go. He's mad because we haven't been able to get anything done to the jeep. We wanted to put a 4" lift on and paint the hood (the clear coat came off) b4 jeep beach.
We bought it in March and NAPA has had it since today!! SO MAD! LOL
We haven't registered yet because we weren't sure if we were gonna have the jeep back & we're still not sure if he's working or not...

I'm prolly gonna be heading to Panama City Thursday to pick up my brother. We'll leave early Friday from there and hopefully be in Daytona around lunch time.

Looks like we are getting an earlier start {toast} Leaving in one hour. I hope we get lucky and the rains go around us. It's raining here in Miami and looks like rain all weekend, but it only 20% chance so we'll see. Will post pic's Sunday night.....................hopefully not of broken parts ;D

Well it's been a hell of a weekend. The event was great and pretty well planned out. I heard there were a little over 300 jeeps at the speedway Saturday. Obstacle courses were fun and Mike showed everyone how GA boys crawl on the rocks.
Pictures later, meg and I are staying down here tonight but it looks like most everyone else has headed out. We went down to the beach today and wow folks can't drive or recover. Tide came in at 2 and pushed everyone to the soft sand. I had to keep 4x4 and several trucks/cars got stuck and people got stuck pulling them out. Kids these days....
Anyone heard/seen matt? I thought he was suppose to be down but never saw him or heard from him.

I hate you guys. I need a vacation real real bad. Obviously We did not get to go. I am heading to Colorado on May 30th (Which I did not even realize, was this months ride), pretty much a long road trip, sight seeing, etc. Unfortunately the wife has said no to me driving the jeep. She cant handle the shakes & noises for that long. So all my money has decipated for this trip.

You know where the Jeep parade started at the beach entrance at the end of Intl Blvd? I had a patio room on the beach at the hotel on the right.
I missed the parade because I was still passed out from the night before lol
