Ok I pretty much know I'm in the minority
on this! The recent tow pig wheel post got
me wondering if it falls strictly along age lines
or just random. What is your preference?
Chrome or Black????
I'm having my hummer wheels mounted today
and they will be left chrome. I will post pictures
later when I can.
I altered these photo's to show the difference
on Tony's and Jay's wheels.

Chrome.
-
As you can imagine, I go both ways: Chrome for the pale vehicles, black for the dark vehicles.

I used to prefer chrome, but matte black grew on me. Hides dirty wheels too.

Something your jeep never had to be concerned with.

Kevin, do you want to delete this nonsense that is derailing your thread or do you want me to do it?
-
Depends on how you want it to look. Badass go Black. Grandpa Stay Chromes. I do like the Chromes on Darker vehicles. Chrome on lighter vehicles just looks normal. But maybe that's what you want? Chrome takes more work to keep clean and shiny.
-
I don't like black or chrome most of the time.
Chrome is too flashy and black doesn't show the wheel design at all.
I like a gray or dark color depending on the vehicle.
I say this, but my Jeep came with black wheels and I just put polished wheels on my M3... //BEER//
-
I've never been a fan of Chrome. In a non-black wheel, I prefer a machined or brushed metal look. I do like Black/machined combo and graphite.
-
I like both and, too me, it really depends on the color of the vehicle.
In the two pics, I really like mine as chrome but Jay's as black.
I also learned that I don't know how to pump fuel....WTF, looks like diesel is running down my fuel filler. haha
-
I'm not a huge fan of black wheels. I only tolerate them on my jeep since the rock ring is aluminum.
I also don't care for "chrome", but I prefer an aluminum wheel over a black wheel. I dislike the blacked-out look

Now that Jay's truck is lifted and with decent tires, I hope to see him on the trail soon. Its been too long for him not to have a decent off-road vehicle.
-
Yes I should clarify that I basically like anything
beside the blacked out look....

One step ahead of you my friend. Finally get to join the 8lug crowd.

Looks sharp Kevin, best bang for the buck on those wheels for sure.
-
Unless you use really good paint, it will come off eventually.

So HD spray paint?
I don’t mind touching then up or repainting. Worst case, get them powder coated if it becomes a pain.
-
I've painted countless sets of wheels and unless you are using an abrasive cleaner or something harsh to rub them with you will not have any issues. Just prime them properly and set. Humidity is also a very important factor in painting.

On the H2 wheels, I have gone through 4 or 5 sets over the years. Use to get them as new takeoffs with tires. Wore them 1/2 down one sold for not much more than I paid.

About 4 years ago, I painted the passengers side alloy wheels to see how long it lasted. All's I done was Widex 'em down, let 'em dry & shoot it with black spraypaint.
Still holding.
