Title: Looking something that the wife will use.
Post by: kent10sne1 on March 25, 2014, 07:36:17 PM
Looking for something small, under $100 - $150 (not a 22) that i can let the wife use while im away, she's not found of the 9m  its just too big,
she wants something cheap.  something for defense she can keep by the bed.  maybe a derringer of somekind.  38cal.  but im not
sure what they go for.  wanted to post here before i went to the gun store.

Is the goal to flash a gun and hope the perpetrator vacates, or is the goal to kill the perpetrator?

Hammer less 38. Or a good 380 Taurus, s&w, etc..... Misty carries the Taurus 380 and likes it. Very compact

You can get a Taurus Model 85 which is a .38 special revolver. You can get it in a Ultra Light Edition. I can get you hooked up new for $269. Its a Bad Ass Pistol

Unless she is a solidly sure shot, in the dark, while scared, I'd try to talk her into a pump shotgun.

38 special revolver. Pull the trigger and it shoots no jams no stove pipes no problems for her to think about but bang.    //popcorn//  //popcorn//

Get on the outdoors trader there are usually some decent deals floating around on there. Also a pump shotgun is a very good home defense, it is what I use. Also that can usually be gotten for a decent price

What ever you get or she gets make sure she likes holding it. If she doesn't feel safe holding it and working it she won't ever pick it up

Its probably easier to get a good 20 gauge pump or 410 for the price range than a good automatic .380, not sure about .38 revolvers.

She doesn't like the heavy 9mm, so she isn't going to want to pickup a shotgun.

Any of the pocket .380s but I feel a revolver is safer for the wife so she has the model 66 357 close by.  She only has to pull the trigger as long add the hammer strap, is loose it fires.  I don't like an auto laying around loaded and she would forget to chamber a load.

so im wondering if i should sell my 9mm and get two .380 one for me to keep in the jeep and one for the wife.

my 9mm Ruger http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=11657.0 (http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=11657.0) just too big for the console, need something
smaller but with some pop.

should i keep the 9mm or sell it and get two .380 instead?  thoughts?
