Awesome park. Super dry, traction for days. We were just discussing that the park is pretty amazing for the 35” etc tire rigs. Big tire rigs didn’t have the same amount of tough trails for their liking. We did several level 4 trails that with 35-37” were a great challenge. Big dry rocks were great. Some fun/tough level 3 trails too. Big park, good facilities, cabins onsite, had food for sale etc due to the SXS event.
-
Not enough hard trails for the big guys but pics of 2 of the baddest big rigs needing repairs? Sounds nice.

Only one was related to a trail, rob's hi-steer arm. John's was a wear and tear item, hose had been rubbing on the pitman arm bolt. I did 75% of the park with my driver front hub unlocked

Don, you'd have probably made it all weekend without breaking!
My assessment: freaking awesome. Great management, well maintained, great creek bed trails, well marked trails, well mapped, easy to get to trails, tight for big rigs, great views, lots of ticks, lots of poison ivy, great but small camping area, easy to haul to (similar to going to Chocco for me)....I'd come back.
There is some hard stuff, but I'm not going to do it before the Colorado trip.

I enjoyed the hell out of the park. Really enjoyed all the trails I was on. I blew a hydro assist hose but had a spare (thanks to Scott for having one with the ends on already so we just swapped parts).
-
We had a great time but could have done without the intense heat & all of the horsefies.
BIG thank you to all of the GATR crew that helped out today with my batty issue.
Thank you Scott for baby sitting my son for a few hours. He had a awesome time.

Wouldn't be a fun trip without a good night ride. Finished out the trails on the opposite side of the park, and realized Clark lost his cooler. Cooler recovered, and then I proceeded to break the hub on my good side. Thanks Warn for lifetime warranty hubs...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180610/ca960a33047471382d919563083abb27.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180610/f25d9ee619622f6cd23d51c809a03429.jpg)

Crazy Train did fine on its first trip. Just a few minor things ( loose bolts, and a poorly positioned air line). The new parts worked great.
The synergy skids got a proper testing. Thanks to Jeff for letting me borrow the OX locker trail fix plug. I should have ordered one when I ordered the locker. The trails were very good, park is very nice, the heat and humidity were horrible.

Did y’all get any rain? We had some loud thunder but never had any rain. Just plenty of humidity.
-
Waiting on AAA to deliver diesel to me on the side of HWY 411 in Cartersville. They called the local wrecker service and worked out the diesel delivery....hope they are right.
If I still had the Toyota tagged I would just take it off the trailer and go get some...looks like I am 1.2 miles from the nearest diesel. [help]

AAA told me they would not deliver diesel. Only thing they would do is tow me to a station.
Hope you are getting what you need.
-
Made it home. AAA brought me 2 gal of diesel.
Had a good but hot trip!
-
I'm home. Right at 6 hours for me, no traffic delays and was able to keep the cruise set for the whole return trip.
Fun trip, even if I was having a heat stroke Saturday afternoon lol
-
That heat was unbelievable. I'd been riding around in ac almost the entire trip, but the floorboard was radiating heat like a jet engine. Then one of my "friends" decided to play a joke on me after moving my jeep forward while I supervised John's repair from a distance. The joke was to slide the temp control to the heat area..and it was funny, but it got not funny when the slider wouldn't move back to the cold section! I had to ride all of the way back to camp deciding between hot air flowing, or no air moving through the jeep. I don't know how you gays and gals without ac did it. Oh my.
The fix was really easy...I should have tried it on the trail. Stuck flapper control on the air flow box.

We brought wash clothes from the hotel & dipped them in the cooler water. It worked great!! This will be our go to in the heat.

I really didn't take many pictures;but we had a great time thanks again to Big Dave and Jason and it was nice meeting Sam. It was hot but good to see some other people I haven't seen in a while.

I had a trailer tire blow on I65 Friday morning right before Cullman, so needed a 60 mile detour to Huntsville area to get a replacement. I decided to just buy a second spare wheel and tire to avoid this type of problem in the future. Got to HP early afternoon and had a fun easy ride with Jason leading.
Saturday joined up with John's group and all was good all day until John broke and I was about to have heatstroke. [skull] Headed back to camp without waiting to supervise repairs. [rolleyes] I was very happy to get back to the motel.
Since we had 8 rigs in the group we didn't stop for any of the harder potential obstacles. The trails were still reasonably challenging as far as needing to pick some lines, but nothing that one was worried about getting through. At least many were in the trees for shade. I'd consider going back in the future with cooler weather; with an audiobook to listen to on the way the drive isn't bad.
Found a surprisingly good Japanese restaurant in town, and ate dinner there twice.
I found that my winch battery was dead again, but luckily never needed to winch. Also the Painless controller seems bad as the indicator light never lit up showing charging the batteries. I'll need to attend to that before the next ride. I could link the two in series, but if one battery goes bad it drains the other; so the switching idea makes sense if it works.

series would give you 24 volts. Parallel is what you want.

Had an awesome time, the trails were tight but dry rock and traction for days. Thanks to Jason for leading the way all weekend, enjoyed meeting all the folks I hadn't before. Maverick and Merlin were my favorite two trails, all the Top Gun named trails were fantastic.

Looks to be a great park. I am already gonna plan a cool month trip later in the year. I really wanted to hit this place . Trail riding in the southeast in the summer months is brutal. Makes me think about buying a carpet set for the front of the TJ. Like Clark said, the floor just radiated heat plus it being 90+ amazon humid makes for a long day. Plus I still have not fixed my AC since the engine swap [phantomskull]

I’m sure to catch flak about it here as-we’ll-as at home and on my other forum, but I have maybe used the AC in my JKUS 4-5 times?
Even when we were midday Friday and Sat I didn’t turn it on . After hearing someone mention it( maybe @clark123456 ), Cadence & I tried it for a few miles on way to Nashville Sunday but turned it off and agreed it felt better with windows down. I just never got accustomed to ac in automobiles, even bein’ bred-n-spread in the deep South.
Weird, I know....
-
You're weird!

Same way. I have used the ac in the Jeep very minimally over the last 18 years. Raised in the south... you get used to it ha ha. Even in my old sub I barely use it.

Wife drives that ‘95 XJ around nashville in this heat. After 375k , the blower + two of the 3 ac comp clutch plate spring/tine things are cracked ,so we don’t have ac in that heat generating inline6 , either. [help]
Thus why first criteria on this truck we are shopping is AIR CONDITIONING, per the missus ...heh...
yeah, I’ve a few odd traits , admittedly ... ;)
-
My wife would melt if the ac went out on her sub. Just recently fixed it too. Momma ain't happy... nobody is.

I’m the same way. My a/c only gets turned on when my daughter or wife are riding with me. Maybe in a torrential downpour. I just like windows down......

Those of us with JKU's have an excuse. The engine actually runs cooler with the A/C on due to the electronic fan controls. The cooling fans on the JKs are so slow to come on and I have seen 250* on my temp gauge witch is no bueno on an aluminium engine. Running the A/C makes the fans run all the time keeping the engine much cooler when wheeling.
That's my excu..I mean reason and I'm sticking to it. LOL
-
I run the ac all the time. I don't really like to sweat.
-

Trust me, we know when it's hot and Chris hasn't been running the AC.

After this past weekend, I'm going to price getting my A.C. converted to R134.
Heat didn't bother me as a kid. We never ran the a.c. in the house- ever. But as I get older I seem to be more sensitive to it. Plus, my wife requires a.c., 24/7.
-
yeah, and the 3.6 runs even hotter than the 3.8l ; I circumvented all that by slappin one of the best upgrades I ever did in the form of the UPI aluminum shroud with a Spal 18"https://www.universalpartsinc.com/shopping/productDetails.aspx?i=751005 (https://www.universalpartsinc.com/shopping/productDetails.aspx?i=751005), over-the-top CFM ( h20 proof) fan in the four door.
I have my FlashPaq set to fire that step-voltage divider on at low -regular = 188 degrees and high at 198 degrees; that's why my JKU sounds like the Concord taking off pretty much constantly. But, i do not think it's ever reached over 200 degrees F .
Don't get me wrong ; I keep the house so AC'ed that my kids wear wool sweaters inside in July ; I guess growin up with farm trucks done somethin to me... [oldskool]
