This will be a "Bring the Kids" run open to any class of vehicle. The run is a scenic ride in the mountains, probably similar to the Holiday Run. So pack some food and we'll have lunch on the trail. Andy (rabunjeeper) has graciously agreed to lead on this one too, so this should be a great event for families, bring your spouse as well.
Date: 6 March
Time: 10AM check-in, air down, pull out by 10:30
Location/Directions:
The meeting place will be at the Lake Burton overlook/picnic area, on hwy 76 west of Clayton, east of Hiawassee. If you are looking it up on a map its at the intersection of hwy 76 and Vickers road. Also its at the end of a bridge that crosses Lake Burton and there is a sign there that says, Georgia Power Jones Bridge Overlook. It will be all the same trails as in the holiday ride and the nov ad hoc ride. Around a 3 - 4 hour ride

Equipment:
This is not an "Official" GATR run, so no mandatory safety equipment, but it would be good to read the GATR safety equipment checklist anyway. At a minumim, I would higly reccomend having a CB radio as this is how we all communicate on the trail. We will be on Channel 7. Im looking for a 91 up. Dont want it to look great cause im gonna beat the crap out of it. Not wanting to spend over 2000 on it. I would like to find one that has a small lift and 31s-33s. I don't want one too tall cause I will just roll it.

if i dont have to work (like always) i will try to make it. i need a break from all this overtime and wedding planning anyway. i doubt the fiance will come with me. she doesnt like to get cold and the heat in my old jeep isnt the greatest. i may try to get some of my club to come.

Where exactly is the meeting point. This is up GA400 till it turns into 2 lane road. Left where the BP is and continue on towards the lake? Make a right and the 'overlook' is a gravel lot on the right?
And this might be my first ride with this group. I believe I have all the required stuff but this isn't an 'official' ride correct?

I'm really interested in making this trip. Just depends on if I can get a few things fixed on the XJ, as well as emissions, tag and insurance...(bought it not too long ago). What type of terrain will this be involving? I asked my g/f and she would like to ride, but has her sister's baby shower the same day, but I might bring the 3 spawns anyway. I'll have to swap off days with my co-worker, but that should not be a problem. Gotta break the jeep in somehow....

It's really nice and easy trails, no obsticals, a few water crossings (not to deep). I only used 4x4 on time on the ride I made up there and it was on a slick red clay hill. Very relaxing and great scenery. Check out this thread, there should be some picture links in it.

well as of tonight, it looks like i wont be making this ride. my work posts up on wednesday if we have to work overtime on saturday or night. im scheduled to work. again......... i have only had 5 saturdays off since the big flood, and only three of them were holidays.....
i might just go for a ride on sunday instead.... grr.

Howdy - I'm a newb that found his way over here from ExPo. Is this an open ride to newbies? I would love to come out and explore. I hope to have my 1976 FJ55 Land Cruiser rolling by then.

I have been up there and had no problem, although my tires are upgraded. There are plenty of with winches, jacks, etc.

It's just your Bubbling Personality! Actually you do a great job and a lot of folks don't want to go out and beat there junk. Everyone should go up to the mountains at some point and ride for a day and enjoy nature. {toast}

We rode the Abe Gap (C32) and Charlies Creek/ Old Coleman river Rd sections Sat the 13th Just after our Big snow and it was great!! 4 inches of Snow makes it a little Slick. I am looking forward to meeting and seeing all yall again. Heres a few Pics. The Green YJ is bone stock.

Nice to see a lot of new members have signed up for this ride. Andy is a great guide, and he has a good assistant guide too. {toast} This is a great Forestry Trail ride as it has a lot of water crossings.

Most likely rifles(MAYBE handguns). I don't think we'll be taking the shotguns this trip.

im planning on attending with my fiance and possibly a few of my guys from currahee jeeps club.
they did not post the schedule for overtime on saturday today like they normally do and the workload doesnt look like we should have to work saturday, so as for now, count me in plus definately one other guy with his wife and son in his jeep. i will post up if i find out that more are coming.

A big bummer for me - I have to work this weekend. I was really looking forward to meeting up with everyone but will get to future events.

But it still a good ride, a lil snow left. I done it all in my stock 94 xj country, mind you I did have to call on it a time or two but did it all on street tires. Hope to see everyone in the morning, be safe.

Thank's for having me guys. That was the most fun I have had in a long time. The durango did good I was shocked its bone stock. That was my first trail ride but definately not my last.

Had a blast today.the wife's first trail ride- she loved it.

I wanted to thank everyone who set up this run, as well as our trail guide. The kids and I had a lot of fun. Jimmy and I made it up to helicopter and I thought it was well worth the battle up a few of those hills. The view up there was awesome. Somehow I managed to drop my phone on the trail while holding up a few large branches so Jimmy could get by, but we did manage to find it. I had a couple of doubts about my stock XJ making some of the hills, but once again it surprised me. I enjoyed meeting you guys, and look forward to going out again. My girlfriend wanted to ride but had to go to her sister's baby shower. She says she will make the next one though. I'll see about posting up the few pics I took as well here soon. Again, thanks for having us. ;D
