Just taking a poll to get a sense of the club. I drive the F250 so I can't rock crawl....but would if I could! Went to AOP and had to stay on the bunny slopes. Would have done more but WIDTH of the truck kept me out of some places...and rocks on the intermediates were too big for my breakover angle. Sadly I guess I will have to leave AOP to the jeepers.

Kevin @Cannonballkev has a Full size truck and wheels with us. There are several trucks and Full Size rigs in GATR. There are times the longer wheel base is advantageous.

F250 crew cab, 4.5 inch lift 35s.....If I thought I could safely go on more at AOP I would be in for the next ride. Any full size rigs do AOP?
-
It's could be possibly do able but you do increase your chance for body damage and getting high centered.

a longer wheelbase is good to a point. at 118"ish a 4 door on 40's has a tough time on the really big stuff. A full size truck is 150" or so. Thats really just too long for any real rock crawling unless body damage doesn't matter.

what if you are 118" and just on 39's?

I didn't really expect I could. I will do Gulches the next time it rolls around. Maybe I should volunteer my services as the tow pig! //:o// //:'(//

I have seen full size rigs at Chocco, Beasley Knob, Gulches, and Golden. However, body damage may occur. You have a tow piggy go get something to pull behind it.

I have been to Morris Mountain, Beasly, Gulches, and Golden Mountain in my long bed Chevy. I know my limitations but I have fun, I have taken my truck over sone rocks that I never thought possible. It's a challenge for sure, only had body damage once, about the size of a 4 year old! I'm only on a two inch lift and 33's.
I have fun, met some great people and enjoy the woods.

Mudding is at zero... guess @BigPrince hasn't seen this thread

Yeah, I'd save some pennies and get a toy. But in the meantime, come out and ride with someone to get to know the club and the experience to see if it's something you might really like. We usually have at least one seat open in the mild to wild categories, so you can pick your poison.

I am looking online a choccolocco. Looks like there is a lot I can do there in the truck. Might be worth the road trip.
-
Chocco has a lot of loose rock. I hope you have lockers.
The great thing about Morris & Chocco is they are semi close & its a flat(ish) drive there compared to AOP & Golden.

true tracks front and back. The truck is REALLY good at crawling slow in 4 low and I have to work hard at getting stuck so this sounds like fun. I have had no complaints yet. Will have to wait for the bumpers and winch (January) but I see it in the future.
