Title: 5 gallon gas tank
Post by: clark123456 on May 14, 2017, 09:15:12 PM
I haven't bought one in a while, but I'm planning to buy two more.  I keep running into poor reviews of what's on the market.  Y'all have any recommendations on what to buy?

I use this style with the double handles

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0007M4VRO/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1494812407&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=gas+cans

And install these for a fast flow

Am I really bad at math (serious question)...how do they get an average of 3.9 stars with only 45% of reviews being 4 stars or better?  I saw that one earlier, but the 1 star reviews made me stay away from it.

I have 2 of those & the seam is in the middle of the handle. Both are separating there. I bought one from Wal-Mart but when I got it home noticed the nozzel cap does not attach securely. I returned it & bought 2 from Ace Hardware. The cap is a twist lock design. I think they are around $18.

Thanks, guys...I ended up ordering 4 Sunoco jugs due to reviews on Amazon.  The VP lead put me onto them.  I did see some negative reviews on the VP stuff, as well as the Summit brand stuff.

Expensive, but duck it...I'll scrimp somewhere else.

What was the negative on the VP?  I've been using them for over 10 years with no issues.  Pretty standard.
Leaking..just read the reviews on Summit...reason varies.

I will, since I'm reducing my jeep to trailer only add much as possible.  I have the generator, too.

You guys are probably fine on the Colorado leg since we'll drive past a bunch of fuel on the trip, but I'm assuming I'll run 10 gallons per day with HVAC, so I'm taking no chances, plus I figure I can use them for Harlan and other trips.

This is my first time to Moab.  I assume their is access to a gas station to fuel the jeep up each day?

I was thinking not when we are camping.

How far is it again to a hotel that night?

JC do you have a link to that google map with all of the trails and road travel?

We will have daily access to gas stations.  We will want to fill the Jeeps in GJ on Tuesday morning. Holy Cross is not an issue on a full tank.
