Title: How to check flex and bump without a forklift?
Post by: BigMike on August 11, 2017, 05:40:08 PM
Need to check it this weekend while working on the Jeep. Thinking of finding a 45 degree wall.  Other ideas?

True...maybe check it first at a mall curb, then get on one of those rugged ridge parking lot ramp things, then go to a culvert...

A mall curb should be fine. I've never seen him on a rock much bigger that one.

Find a deep ditch and go at it side ways angled.

@BigMike   I know of an RTI ramp you might be able to use, not too far from you if you want me to ask.

Head to your local industrial park and go to a loading dock.

Find all the other jeeps parked at Wal-Mart and drive on someone's tire?

How much bump do you have now?

3 pucks in the front, 2 in the rear (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/e3bbabc223e754899180f806823e32df.jpg)

So how much up travel do you have now? Looks like only about 3" from that picture.

It looks like you have way to much bumpstop up front. Are you high steered? If so need to run around 3" of front bump. If not you can probably take a lot of that out. On 37s in the rear I ran 2.5" w the poison sounder fenders so you can probably do less with the metalcloak

When I had only one puck up front there was a 2" gap at full compression. So I added 2.  I think the shock bottoms out limiting travel.

Shock bottoming is not good, will destroy it

Mike, what does metal cloak claim you should run for bump stops and shocks?

I think Mike is laying the ground work for backing out of gatrfest.

Ouch. But that front setup looks wrong. Not enough travel even for a good bump in the road. Shock bottoming out... bad news.
