Randy owns Morris Mtn and we are good to go to Morris Mtn.
Awesome, Morris it is.
Just re-booked at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Anniston. $84 AAA rate.
@PHANTOM - yes, same one. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bhmfo-fairfield-inn-and-suites-anniston-oxford/ (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bhmfo-fairfield-inn-and-suites-anniston-oxford/)Awesome, Morris it is.

There are several right on the same street.
I've never ridden Morris, is it as good as Chocco?
Just to clarify. I prefer Morris over Chocco but its more different than better. Morris is small with short trails and lots of obstacles. It's very conducive to mixed groups as every obstacle has multiple approaches. Anyway its a fun park and one of my favorites. Facilities suck though.I've never ridden Morris, is it as good as Chocco?
Better to me. Unless it's really wet, then not so much.
Fairfield or Hilton garden so far
I stayed at the Indian-owned motel in Heflin, and it's above average as such places go. The owner is a wheeler.native or east? I don't think I've ever observed either wheeling.
my favorite, of the two also. Kell references the place by how bad the bathroom was the first time we went there.Just to clarify. I prefer Morris over Chocco but its more different than better. Ah, the ole banana in the tailpipe trick...good one.Crap.. i called and got a hotel last night.. I cant do Friday ride, wont be arriving till later in the day, and we dont like the crowds. Theres always Hale, but there are not really any close hotels. Im down for wherever, already had the weekend off.Hale...now that's an awesome idea! I'd sleep in the truck, with it running of course, to ride Hale.
and i would plug your exhaust just make sure you stayed good n warm.. ole buddy ..
@tjsahara00 just a suggestion.. and Clark, Mrs Peggy said we are welcome anytime, as long as they were in town she could just meet us and open the gate.
The guy that owns the hotel is east Indian. He's about 4 foot tall. He also runs a gas station at the 199 exit on 20.He's a good guy. Talked with him a while last year. Never stayed at the hotel.

New to site and wheeling. Don't know what to expect. I plan on coming Saturday.Expect good times, horrible bathrooms, and some damage to someone's vehicle.
I think I might come out and join y'all. Girlfriend is out of town that weekend and I need something to do.
No idea what trails I can do in a long bed truck, maybe just find a spot and watch.
Are people camping? Bonfire?
Is there any reason this was changed from Choccolocco? I think that park has better camping...maybe a better ride come spring time.

If you are new to rock crawling/wheeling you will probably be better off at MM. Coccolocco has a lot of loose rocks and vertical hill climbs, where MM is easier to navigate and bypass the really hard stuff.
If you are new to rock crawling/wheeling you will probably be better off at MM. Coccolocco has a lot of loose rocks and vertical hill climbs, where MM is easier to navigate and bypass the really hard stuff. After spending this past Sat at Chocco. There is still lots of loose rocks on several trails (Tee Pee being the worst) and it's crazy how much a line can change after each rig.

I will say that overall Chocco has improved from the last time I was there last year. Better signage and they are also now using the Avenza PDF map application so you can track yourself via GPS on the map.
Good point. So for future reference if you want to play on what being said as the Ledges leave base and go out Forney Rd toward Boatramp when you come to big clearing go left out toward the swamp n muddy hill take the path that's marked swamp it's a uphill climb then follow it toward the left at the top and they are on your left a little ways outthe sign on the ground stated, "Rock Ledges"

Campfire or party at the hotel?

YES??? Definitely a party at the hotel area. Do I need to bring any firewood?
We'll do a fire in the lobby of the hotel...I guess. What is the plan for Friday night?

I'm so confused. //???//
It looks fantastic right now. @Doug , may need to cancel hotel...what's the cancellation policy? @Jeepson33s , fyi

@Doug or @tcdawg...can sombody link the GATR required trail gear...next of kin paperwork etc.
Weather is looking great! Short week...won't be there Friday, but can't wait until Saturday!I'm still going to try to make it. If I can manage to get the Jeep on the trailer, then I'm likely fixed enough to come out! I want to give GBU hell with the stickies...plus that weather looks so f'n solid.
Clark, wrap your back up in some copper fit and suck it up...that worked for Brett Favre. That, and a handful of Percocet and you'll be right as rain and ready to roll.
See you all soon!
GBU dry with stickies = cruise on up
GBU wet = rev limiter
V-notch should be your challenge now.

Looking forward to the possibility of dry trails this weekend after our slippery time out there last year. Temps look great too.
I'll start loading some firewood for a fire Friday night. BYOB and trail war stories!
Ok, watching those videos convinced me I'll be coming out. I'll have a ton of pain pills, just in case! Pray nothing breaks, because I may not be able to get out of the jeep to fix it :)

Don't worry 'bout it, you'll have help.
A bunch of us locked crawled up all of GBU years ago, me in my old TJ on BFG 35s. Have not been on it in years. Has it changed that much? Or just always wet?
Years ago when we were in drought everyone complained about dust. Now we complain about mud. The Good part of GBU is fairly easy when dry. New members can start with that to see how it goes before trying the harder lines.
Well let's hope I can make it locked front on 33s

You can always try it in reverse.
You could look at having wood delivered if it's a issue just a suggestion been there with other clubs that have done this

What time are you guys starting on Saturday Morning? Were coming in Friday evening and staying in Oxford.
What time are you guys starting on Saturday Morning? Were coming in Friday evening and staying in Oxford. We always have a driver's meeting at 9 AM local time, but get there before then to air down, disconnect, and whatever you need to do to get ready to wheel. See you then!
I may come out on Friday morning...I had already scheduled the day off, so I may use it to come out. I will probably stay in a hotel, but that will be a game-time decision. If you do decide to come on Fri, happy to help you unload or move gear so you can take it easy on your back.

yes you will
I'll be there early as well if you need help; or at least I won't laugh at you.

whoa...when you clear an obstacle that denied me, I won't be able to blame it on the vehicle...and it will appear as if I don't know how to wheel...can't have that. It's ok for people to think it, but to prove it is crazy.I may come out on Friday morning...I had already scheduled the day off, so I may use it to come out. Do it! We got you covered. I'll even drive your jeep on the obstacles if you want //letseat//
So the park website says $30 for the weekend rate but didn't I see somewhere that now that it is private rental only now the weekend rate is $40?
@PHANTOM
I spent two hours trying to get my door open, I failed. So, if you see me crawling out of the driver side window, (I'm Practicing for nascar)or out the passenger door, this is not something I normally do.
Great way to make a first impression.
Plan on leave by Atlanta around 12-1.
Is it obvious where to set up camp?
Does anybody that's already there or is coming up tomorrow have swr meter? I have radio shack and Walmart.i found my broking and to replace it.going up there blind.
