This is a great park!! Lots of variety, dirt hills, V ditches, rocks from mild to way wild. Lots of areas to watch others as well. Just a super fun park and very easy to get to off I-20.
Bypasses all over the place, a real easy park to enjoy whatever type of obstacle you want.
Looking forward to this ride!
I'm in for this trip! Would like to camp, depending on weather.
lets hope we get a good week or so of dry weather before the 8th. This place can be a hot mess when it's wet.
Well I'm going to have to back out on this trip now. I had a surgery scheduled for after this ride but it has been moved up to Feb.5 It would be kinda hard to wheel one handed.....
For forming a convoy, I suggest meeting at the Crackerbarrel in Douglasville off I20. Plenty of parking.
If we all meet at Cracker Barrel Friday morning, what time would everyone want to meet? We need to consider traffic also. I know for me coming from Woodstock, traffic will be terrible getting over to I-20.

From Woodstock, you should head west on 120 and down 101 to Villa Rica and meet out there. Saves you a lot of time unless you just want to eat bfast.
You have a 1 hour time change going to MM.
I assume the times posted for Sat and Sun are AL time.
Maybe for me. Might rent a trailer and haul out for the dayThere is a goose next to me for sake if you got the money. Dont know the price.

Depends on if u prefer a smaller group and more exploration. Saturday will be more folks. I always like the Friday ride better if I can get there. I prefer riding ro watching others. If u like a big group more then Saturday.

I know some have said the weather will be the factor if they camp but who all is getting a room friday and where?
I saw that hotel in orbitz. I first wrote it off because I'm usually not a fan of older single story motels but after checking out the web site it's clear that this one has been remodeled and clean. What's everyone's opinion about this place? I reall just need a place to shower and sleep but with f'ing bed bugs running rampant, I'm pretty picky. Thanks for the input.I know some have said the weather will be the factor if they camp but who all is getting a room friday and where?
if the weather is just too cold or wet, I'll most likely stay at the America's Best Value Inn right at the I-20 exit 199 interchange. Only about 11 miles from their to MM
Oh BTW the weather next week looks awesome!
The high Saturday is in the 60's!!! And dry.

Too cold to camp? BAH! ;D Lots of fire wood helps. Seriously though, looking forward to riding next weekend.

Warner Robins jeep club, did you go on that ride with them?
Yes sir, I took that picture.
Weather is not looking good for this upcoming weekend. If it doesn't get better looking I will be out for this trip. No point driving all that way for nothing.
Still a newb (only two rides with the club) so I gotta ask... what's the problem with rain and Morris Mountain? Some of you just don't like to ride in mud? Is this particular location no fun or too difficult when it's muddy?
But my opinion is a nasty muddy day on the trails is better than a day doing anything else. That's what I like to hear! Looking forward to this ride. Weather is definitely looking better. Trying to clear my schedule to make this an overnight trip instead of a day trip. Hopefully some of y'all will still be camping.

There would be a lot of mud depending on weather. But the way the weather keeps changing since earlier this week, I think we will be fine. As long as it keeps changing in our favor. But my opinion is a nasty muddy day on the trails is better than a day doing anything else.

No night rides that sucks
The camping is primitive as are the showers. Just bring shower shoes/flip flops. It is more like a two stall out house with running water. I would rather take a bath in a puddle. Just my opinion though

Well, not quite that bad. Block building with two stalls. Flush toilet, sink, shower and electricity in each.
Man, night rides are where it's at though. Too bad. Some of my best memories are from night rides... And some of my worst ;)
Its all good. I was there not to long ago for the rbd event (pretty large gathering) and the facilities where probably not up to par. But they didn't look too nice by any standards. I thought you were asking a question. After re-reading I see you were not. Didn't mean to contradict you. It's definitely not nice.

They are mediocre facilities that is for sure...for some reason I think they don't have hot water, could be wrong on that one.
But yes, the RBD event is a full tilt deal, those bathrooms get pounded at that event!
High of 65 on Saturday with 0% chance of rain. Looking forward to meeting and riding.
Lets hope the mud dries up.

I was able to get Friday off so thinking about heading over earlier than I had originally planned. Are others still planning on arriving early enough on Friday for an afternoon ride? Also do you have a predetermined CB channel to use?
I want to wheel bad, but I need to finish painting and tiling this weekend. Too much to do that I cant wheel and do house stuff. We shall see.

Help you neighbor by taking him off-road ;D
I am not staying overnight but I got firewood for cheap for anyone who is! Got some pines that were dropped back in Nov and I started splitting last week. Anyone interested? I go some popular and a few pieces of black walnut as well but pine is cheap since that can't be burnt inside very wellJeremy, I just ran out of wood here at the house. Were you going to bring it? If so, I'll throw in for sure. How much?

Our children play sports but we would really like to come. Is there a way to come late and catch up or do you have to be there first thing in the morning? We should be able to be there Saturday by 3:30pm at the latest. We would like to ride some Sat. camp and then ride Sunday.

Oh yeah. I plan to be there by 1pm. If its not a wet mess, I'll set up camp and be ready for an afternoon ride.
Remember, AL is 1 hour behind. Not sure if your 3:30 is est or cst. Thanks for that reminder - I had forgotten about the time difference. I'm driving over Saturday morning, so that extra hour of sleep will appreciated.
Pretty sure GA time... otherwise ill be late. Should be rolling out of marietta by 8ish

Other way around. If you leave at 8 your time and it takes you 1.5 hours to get there, you'll arrive at 9:30am your time, 8:30 central time

So whats the plan on camping? Is everyone waiting to see what happens with the rain tomorrow or is it still planned camping at this point. I ask because if I dont take the camping gear and stay in a hotel it will free up LOTS of space in the jeep </LMAO/> I would however love to camp if its not bad though. I got some biscuits and gravy for sat breakfast for all that do camp if thats the plan. {letseat} {letseat}

well I got a room booked would rather camp to save the cash but with the chance of rain I don't feel like packing all the camping gear. I did enough camping in the rain when I was working for Uncle Sam
Just avoid the creek area crossing... That was the point in my offroad "career" that I began to truly hate mud. Never seen a bigger cluster F than that day.

According to weather dot com. the 24hour rainfall for heflin area = .2"-.5". I don't know how well MM recovers from rain but it stopped raining there about two hours ago and there isn't any more on the way. //SLAMIN//
I plan on camping still...little rain is not that big of a deal.

Just saw the radar in AL. Keep a watch on that system. There is a crap load of yellow and red headed in that direction.

Hopefully it stays to the north. Futurecast has the edge of green passing over the park.
Where is the parking lot that is being referenced? I have only entered through the camping area. Or is that the same?
Suns out homies! The radar right now makes it look like any new rain will pass to the north.
Positive vibes only from here on out...
will be heading that way in about 45 min ;D
Alright fellas, I am going to bow out. I just got a reply back from Randy when I asked if he thought it was worth diesel to haul from ATL or am I going to spend all day Saturday in the mud spinning on the rocks:Same here and I was towing further than you. Back to house work I guess.
"It rained most of the day yesterday andit was raining this morning, so the park is pretty waterlogged right now. It will be pretty muddy tomorrow".

I'm sitting in the parking area at MM all alone. It's still raining here and it looks pretty sloppy. Hurry up an get here so you can pull me out of the mud! ;DTony is in route and should be there by 1:30

I'm waiting on some condition reports from the guys already there. I hate mud. I can stand a hole or two but if the whole trail is a slop fest I'm out.
Sucks!
