It was slick. Required 2nd efforts and picking good lines. A good training day for all.

I didn't get to say bye but to a few as I had to get on the road to home and repack and get on the road to the lake and pick up 1 if the girls from a friends family. Seems they were dining at the Ritz at Lake Oconee Reynolds Plantation so I'm not sure she was ready to go.

But had a great time with everyone.
Was great to meet some new folks.
We should do introductions before we ride as we are growing so fast and have so many new folks. We are so glad to have you new folks and I hope you all felt very welcome.

Post by: Skandalous on April 06, 2013, 10:38:01 PM: That place is really nice, especially when it dries up. After the morning sun and breeze hit the trails they were so much better. It was my first trip to Gulches and most certainly wont be my last. Was able to tackle I think it was called TnT or something like that. Every time I take a trip with you guys I am more and more amazed at what these rigs can do. I cant wait to see everyones pics from Saturday. Sadly I had to bail around 5pm due to family issues and missed the backwards night ride. :'( :'( :'( Oh well next time fo sho.

Thanks so much to all the GATR staff that set these rides up. It sure beats riding alone.

Got a few vids will have them up when I get a chance.

This trip became more about getting my son comfortable with being on the trails. I didn't even get to run Palmetto Crossing! But I had a blast with him and the night ride on Saturday was great.

Glad to see the group is growing. Amazing how many rigs we took on that night ride...!

Wish we could have gotten you up and running better, but now you are going to be all set when you get the propane up and running.

Had a great time, it was good meeting more people and seeing those again from last month.

Since the wife wasn't there I couldn't take her pics and claim them as my own. I looked after I got home and realized I only took two pics and they were not even good ones.

Not a hard fix, I just need to figure out if anyone makes a high steer tie rod for the JK. It looks like there is only a D/link flip but no Tie Rod flip so I will most likely go with a RK Tie Rod.

I was thinking... what other vehicle besides a Jeep (Wrangler) can you buy, get strangers waving at you as soon as you drive off the car lot, wheel it for days and drive it back home and still get 17+ mpg. Man I love my Jeep!

Couldnt put it better myself. I had a little bit of carnage as well. Pulled a little rod out of the firewall attached to my clutch. Easy trail fix was to put a "limiter strap" on it so it cant pull out of the firewall again. Thought about replacing it when I got back but under further observation its fine just broke the silly plastic piece holding it on the firewall. Silly jeep engineers.

I was close to that when I pulled off the lot with a stock JKU last October. With the lift, 35-inch tires, heavier bumpers, and winch, I'm now getting about 14-15 highway, but averaging 13.5 city/highway combination.

You can get the one off a grand cherokee (I will double check this) and it is a direct bolt up. It is a solid tie rod. Suppose to be a very good upgrade for a fairly cheap price. I will get more info for you though.

AJ, It is hard top beat the RK Tie Rod. Solid Aluminum and will flat out take a beating. Mine has flexed all the way to the pumpkin on more than one occasion and it pops right back with no permanent bend. There are a number of others that are Chromoly; synergy and currie. But I am completely satisfied with my RK.

No true high steer conversion for the JK until you go with a totally different axle. The high steer that most talk about is the drag link flip.

I have given away all of my spare tie rods and sold a HD Rugged Ridge tie rod (back up spare for my sleeved tie rod) to someone on a ride. This did not cost me anything but time. I would like to flip it soon, but I dont see replacing it anytime soon.

Computers lie. What's the hand calculated mileage? Did you change the computer set up for tire size and if you did a regear? Otherwise the computer won't be right.

Did you change the computer set up for tire size and if you did a regear? Yes, Superchip adjustment for tires (still has me 5mph fast, speedo 70 = moving 65). Did not regear still running factory 4.10
Otherwise the computer won't be right. - Slightly off but not 7 mpg

AJ, It is hard top beat the RK Tie Rod. Solid Aluminum and will flat out take a beating. Mine has flexed all the way to the pumpkin on more than one occasion and it pops right back with no permanent bend. There are a number of others that are Chromoly; synergy and currie. But I am completely satisfied with my RK.

No true high steer conversion for the JK until you go with a totally different axle. The high steer that most talk about is the drag link flip.

Thanks Tony! I already did the d/link flip so going with the RK Tie Rod sounds like the best option since Chromoly will bend and the RK springs back. I just wasn't sure if there was an option to raise the Tie Rod, I didn't find anything on that unless you have different knuckles.

Did anyone take some photos of us going up I think it was Radical Ravine the one beside Shipwreck when Ben went to check it out and we kept on straight, after lunch on saturday? I had my doubts about making it up without pulling line but I guess I will no longer be doubting myself or my rigs capabilities after this trip.

Actually most of the stabilization is done by YouTube. It was pretty shaky before the auto stabilize mode "fixed" it. All of my shots are with a Gopro. I have started using a monopod and extending the camera out over the trail in some shots. Part two will have a few more of this type of shot.
