About Morris Mountain
The park was created from a lack of places to go wheeling.  It started as a pastime for Kris and Randy Morris and quickly grew into Morris Mountain ORV Park.  The park now has obstacles, trails, mud pits, canyons, and a primitive camping facility.

Our experience trying to find places to ride kept leading us to areas that forced you to pay for full weekends, camping facilities, or required reservations, making a spur of the moment one day wheeling trip impractical or unaffordable.  As a result,  MMORV has flexible hours and low fees to allow the average joe to take a half -day wheeling trip or a weekend long outing.

Morris Mountain ORV park will be open on the 2nd and 4th weekends of every month only.  Note this does not apply to privately rented events.

Not sure how many are left that were on the ICE BREAKER ride of 2010 with 14 degrees as the low, maybe it was 2011, but we can call Morris in January the Ice Breaker for the 2018 calendar.

I'm down for cold weather. I'd rather bundle up in a sleeping bag than lay there sweating in misery. The may ride this year was pretty brutal at night

Was looking at the requirements for entry to Morris Mtn.. see that straps and tree saver are required.  How serious is that? I don't and won't have a winch so I wasn't planning on getting the tree saver...

After looking at the trail map I'm thinking this one is a bit beyond what I can do with my factory trailhawk anyways so no worries!

Most of the trails we ride are doable by many 4x4 vehicles. You will get scratches and you will get good at 3-6 point turns. Last time we rode Morris we had a stock Wrangler with us that did many of the trails. There are bypasses for the obstacles that you are not comfortable with. I am not familiar with your vehicle but if you plan to wheel it I would look into skid plates and some mud terrain tires. And tow points front and rear, if you do it right, you'll get stuck, eventually.

I'm right on the edge of either tearing my dash out and riding shot gun or holding off till after this ride. Definitely not missing MM. Always a good way to start out the wheeling year

I'm thinking upper 30s-low 40s. Not too bad. I've got a couple tubs of wood to get us going on a fire. Might have to scrounge to keep it rolling hot, but it'll be a good time

This may be just a day trip for me...or I might camp.  Camping might will lead to me violating Dry January (https://www.self.com/story/dry-january-health-benefits), but luckily I'm not morally obligated to follow Dry January...soooo, I'll see what happens between now and Friday afternoon.

i only drink when i camp at wheeling events.    Prob wont bring much beer, mostly vodka and apple Jack.  ..    cold nite, camp fire, whiskey and good friends makes for the best kind of nite.   the best stories always happen with the smaller groups anyway.

It's built into the 4WD system on a Land Rover.  When you put it in "rock" mode, pedal travel increases and takes more pedal for acceleration.

This one has shift on the fly + Eco, City, Sport, & Sport plus modes. I had to lower mine to 1-1. It felt like it was going to spin the tires when I accelerated!!

Explained better here :
What is Pedal Commander?
Pedal Commander is a throttle response controller. It removes response delays on your electronic accelerator pedal. Effectively, it allows your engine to respond faster. As a result, your car can accelerate faster. You paid lots of money for your car, but when you press your gas pedal, you feel like you are pressing a sponge. Have you ever noticed that old cars were more responsive?

We have a solution for you!!

Pedal Commander has 4 different control modes:Eco,City, Sport, and Sport  . Each control mode has 8 different sensitivity levels which you can choose. These 36 different parameters, in total, is what makes us different than others. Pedal Commander is programmable according to your desire within your car’s specifications.

I don't think reprogramming the pedal sensor is going to help me when I already have a high octane superchips programmer on it and my foot on the floor shifting at redline and can't keep up in mall traffic.
Is there more power after the floor board?

The reasons I don't already have one is almost 100,000 miles on the engine and I would rather put that $ towards 8 cylinders.

2nd that! I had my pretty stock geo tracker out there with only 29" MTs and open diffs. Had a blast, and there is still plenty for you to do. Plus it's always fun watching some of the extreme obstacles be completed.

MM is a no go for ya, I assume February is a stretch to get it done by, CFR in march with the traffic jam on the trails probably won't rush to get it done before then. So that leaves hale mountain in April.

Money for the park, if that isn't on the required checklist.  I'd bring food, drinks, snacks for each person in the vehicle.  Depending on the weather, maybe a poncho, sweater, towel, etc.

I want to come and ride with you guys on Saturday at least. Is it okay if I don't have everything on the recommended gear list yet?
What are you missing?

This park is small, so it's not a huge risk, but sometimes things goo wrong and we're stuck on the trail well beyond sundown and dinner time...be prepared for cold and late evenings (rather than being surprised when they happen).  Hot hands, jackets, blankets, etc are good to have.  Toilet paper, bags, etc can't hurt either.

Unfortunately, I am out due to weather.  Rain Thu/Fri will make the park a little slick on Sat.  Pack your recovery gear!!  Have fun!!

A few years back there was a crew camping under the "pavilion". It's a decent sized covered area, should fit you all.

The rain should be done before we get off the trails Friday. A little water(and mud) never hurt anyone. I'm just ready to build a fire in the woods and drink some beer

I think there is a wood stove or bbq grill thing under there too. It might put out more heat & conserve wood.

They had it all wrapped in plastic or tarps or something, if I remember correctly, though.

Still planning to make it.  Looks like only AM rain tomorrow (at least at the moment), but anyway, I just need some trail time!  Sloppy or not, I'm pumped!  Need to get my sh*t together, but I'm pumped!

It's slowly been transitioning from raining Friday through the night to now just am rain. Hoping it'll be done by noonish tomorrow.

...  Please keep all discussion in the discussion thread.  Hope you feel better, Jimbo!

Thanks @RedDragonATL  I am so over this. The Doc has released me to exercise but I have to keep my leg elevated above my hip when seated and I'm not supposed to stand in one place very long. I have actually been using my elliptical which I think is aiding my recovery, thanks @BigMike  I am very hopeful that by next month I am able to go wheelin' again.

Just got off the exit. Eating at Hardee's then headed in to camp. Rough morning getting out of town. Got hit before I could even get to the interstate. Luckily no body damage. Just clipped the tire and took out the valve stem on the driver rear. Had to run by allsouth to get new valve stem thrown in so I didn't hit the trails without a spare. Thanks @allsouth for the quick service. They always take care of us.

I'm in as well.  I set up my tent right at dark and headed to civilization for food and to try to pick up some stuff I forgot to pack.
I'm off in the pine trees.

We are the other ones camping. Swing by. We've got more food than we know what to do with and just got done wrapping the pavilion in tarps to build the second fire in
