If you need a car now I wouldn't necessarily buy it as a "college" car.  Until you know which college and what parking situation is, car selection is premature.  Since my daughters both attend Ga State, they don't need cars when at school.  Even if they did, the parking garages there can be tight.  Both prefer small hatchbacks.  Older daughter bought her first car, a Scion.

If student is going to GCSU in Milledgeville or Kennesaw State or UGA, then a car with good mileage is a big plus.

Madison may stay home for all of her college, and post-college, life to ensure she gets access to the Jeep.

I have a white 96 Ford Explorer with 150k miles thats in EXCELLENT condition. It was actually driven by a 67 year old women for the last decade. Ford serviced the A/C and water pump. I had no use for it when it became available but I'm a sucker for practically anything thats been taken care of. My wife has a company car and her personal car. I have several Broncos, my tow pig and my bigger tow pig. As soon as I got it I flushed the trans because the last time Ford did it was in 2007 but it was still clean. I put new bearings in front just because and replaced the sway bar link bushings. Everything works like its supposed to and its immaculate on the inside. Gray cloth seats look like an old lady has sat in them...very plush and even have power side bolsters. Power seats on both side. Looking for $2500. Only thing it could use is tires.....still some tread left on them, they're just old. Wasn't driven often. I know Explorers are plentiful out there but the 95-97 4.0's are incredibly resilient and this one is just so damn clean.
