What kind of shooting and distance are you trying to do. That makes the difference on optics

Honestly, anything over 150 yards, at this point im not interested in.   this is for home defense, mainly, and maybe some hunting..   at somepoint i may want to go 200+  but at this point, not any time soon.  im guessing...

Your in the middle. Under 100 yards you can use a red dot over 100 my opinion go with a scope. You can use red dots but you would probably want a magnifier. My opinion on that it is something else to add bulk and then you also have to rely on batteries for everything to work. Look at scopes 1x4x24. Vortex makes a nice Viper PST. Also make sure you know what your buying if the scope is set up MOA or MRAD. All that depends on how good at math are you to use the scope correctly.

I like that the reddots are small footprint on the gun, as most scopes seem to be large.  i will look at the vortex viper PST.  would be nice to have it where i can use red dot under 100 and then move to some scope type for over 100..  with a switch or something.

yes.. :)   i wonder if i could get an red dot for close and later get a scope.. i guess its something i can attach easy if needed.   at the pawn shop they said if i get a red dot they would barrel sight it for free and install it.   i guess that means put a lazer in the barrel and sight the dot in to the lazer?

Bore sight just gets you on paper at that distance. You have to fine tune it shooting. Also depending on brand and grain weight of bullet your adjustments will change if you don't always shoot the same bullet. Even with store ammo it will very with the same brand some.

I've got a bore sight for an AR.  Not sure what distance my holographic sight is setup for.  I haven't messed with it since buying from my buddy.  I do know it shoots very accurate small groups all the way at the end of the indoor range at Sharp Shooters.

I noticed u can get a red dot, and have a magnafier (i guess that allows you to see it better or is it like a red dot with a low power scope?)

Also, anyone know of a good range (out door would be nice) where i can take my new toy to play? thats close to snellville.

I a have a Vortex 2-7/32 on one of mine an its a great piece of glass for the money, I couldnt fork it out for a good 1-4, but im super happy with the range of magnification on the 2-7. I went with mil dot, its a little simpler for me.

So looking at the Aimpoint Pro and EoTechs. My question is weight. Looks like the Eotechs weigh a ton but looks are deceiving. I like the compact size of the aimpoint. I want to be able to use my flip sights if need be with the sight turned off but still mounted in case battery failure etc. Any issues with seeing sights thru it? Aimpoint is a better price for sure.

Nice vid. Mine are flip ups so no issue with them in the way with a red dot. Just wanted to be able to see thru the lense and use them if needed. Looks like I will need to get the correct height mount to achieve this. Don, do the aimpoints come with built in mounts for the rail?

Shot my PSA AR I put together yesterday. Took my mom to the range and ran 200 rounds through it, 200 through my 9's, and she shot 130 .38's. Ar's are Fun guns for sure.
