Fuel pump (I think) went out while I was in the worst spot possible. That was an interesting recovery. Thanks Chris, Mike and Mike (flimflam man) We got it to the parking lot put a little gas in throttle body and it died right up then died when that ran out.
I'll see what I can do tomorrow
-
Drop the tank or cut a hole in the bed to replace the stock pump.
Can you put a electric inline pump on it? It would save you a lot of work.

If so, get a genuine Walbro and do a pre-filter. A few of us have been through several parts store pumps.....

Justin from Columbia was there as a solo, and I rode most of the park with him while others were setting up camp. He's a friend of Will Herndon. Nice built jeep buggy on tons and 43 stickies.
No damage to report.

Me recent repair for rear track bar bracket didn't hold. Sheared at axle weld. Also high oil pressure with leak. Getting the JK towed back to GA. Catching a ride with Chris.

That stinks, but it's part of playing the game.

Not what I heard.
Someone told me there's a video floating around of the truck hitting those culverts. Then, a split second later, the sound of horns playing "Dixie".
-
I managed to bounce off a tree during our night run (and my head off the b pillar //WTF// , which unbeknownst to me at the time had knocked my front end alignment WAY out of whack. I discovered it come morning. I appreciate everyone's help with the parking lot alignment attempt, but unfortunately it failed.
Thankfully, there was a Firestone about 30 minutes away that could get it lined back up. Big thanks to @kvom Kirk for letting me put my rig on his trailer to run it out there. Saved my ass.
The tree also broke my stock side mirror and fender, but that is/was the least of my worries.
That was my first night ride and I gotta say that was damn good fun regardless the outcome.

Great pics. Looks like you had a good time.

Are you fricking kidding me!!
I was about to either lift bed or curbs hike in bed of truck so I could have access to the fuel pump in the tank. As I was under truck, figuring out the best option, I noticed a fuse holder near to top of the tank and the frame rail, with a blown fuse in it. Replaced fuse and truck fired right up!
Looked like someone had added it, but I don't know why, it serves no purpose, there is a factory one under the hood. There is a bare spot on the wire, I'm assuming it grounded out on the frame and popped the fuse.
I took it out completely and butt spliced and heat shrink wrapped wires.
Took 5 minutes to fix!
I crawled under truck at gulches, but didn't see it.
Damn do it yourselfers!
At least I found it before I replaced something that wasn't broke!
-
Good resolution. Did you have it towed home?
Edit: maybe it was their anti theft device.

Yes, Sam ( new member) trailered his rig there, towed me back, his fiancé drove the jeep back.

We had a good time meeting up with everyone and getting a day worth of wheeling! Didn't mess the Jeep up to bad besides a rock that got in my way and ripped out my old bumpstop. But nothing to major.
It was great meeting you all!

Yeah that was some serious rookie action going on there. //;D// Thanks to Chris and Mike for patience in guiding me through.
I aired down to 18 but maybe my gauge is off some. I could probably go down more since I have those E-rated Ridge Grapplers...

Thanks for posting the pics and videos, Chris. Though a stock rig gets around pretty damn good, a lift and 35's helps take it to the next level (builds confidence as well)!

Go down to 12. Big difference between 12 and 18.
Looks like you had a blast. Gulches is a great first park to get your feet wet.

Add a soft top and don't worry about busting the hard top. It can happen easily...

Gulches is fun.
If your sidewalls are REALLY still even after airing down, drive down the road at 45 or so for a few miles. I did this to mine at Morris and it seemed to softened up the sidewalls a little bit.

Oooh... never thought about that. That would really suck. Definitely adding that to the priority list.

I have an acquaintance who found one of the nice soft tops for a JKU on Craigslist (my suggestion) for $450 from a guy who swapped to the fastback top. She did have to buy the bracket for the hinge function, at a cost of $120 to $160 (she couldn't remember if they were 60 or 80 each). Compared to the cost she was quoted at fortec, she saved about a grand. I'm thinking she owes me a meal at capital grille!

Definitely scroll through CL each week for soft tops. I think there were 3 or 4 for sale over summer in the 4-600$ range at a time.

Now is a good time to look too. Lots of people start jumping to hard tops when it gets cold.

I drove the bright green tj and I ran 10 psi on non beadlock. I had no issues and I worked them pretty hard at that psi. Lower will help a lot.

The times I have run 12 psi at Morris. I popped 2 beads. Too much skinny. ( might have been less psi than 12) I have a better gauge now. 15psi is comfortable, but 10 -12 really hooks up.
-
I used to air down to 11 psi before beadlocks
only lost 1 bead.
Now I go down to around 6 psi with beadlocks

I run around 10 front & 8 rear on steel wheels. The XJ weighs 4k empty.
-
My sidewalls where super stiff and for the first 7 rides I ran 3 psi with the beadlocks. Now that the sidewalls flex much better I am running 6-7 psi with bead locks.
I used to run 10 psi with no beadlocks and lost two beads in 4 years of wheelin.
