What's up with those MTZ's?
-
For Sale man. You know the cycle. Was about to list them tonight. You want to save me the hassle.

But I may wait to see how the mtr tire does. Anybody have reviews on this tire

They're the older Goodyear MTR's, like 07 is when they came out IIRC. Always heard good things, especially from west coast guys. I'm sure people here have run them. I have a buddy who might want the MTZ's.
-
Did you get the BFG spare also?

Larry had them on his white TJ and they were as close to a sticky tire as you can get without actually having stickies. In Moab you could literally hear them sticking to the slickrock

Sick set up!! Love the rims!!
Tony, with that being said, it sounds like a trail only tire and not a DD tire. Is that correct?
-
The mtzs can be for sale I will just learn to like the new tires I guess. Just let me know will
Big Dave I have not completely passed on the spare yet. Not sure if want to try to find another matching tire or not.
Glad to hear they have a good review. Thanks Tony
Thanks Aj. And no worries for me dd, it hardly leaves the garage other than rides.

Text me a price and I'll pass it along the way.

Nice buy. Those things are sweet!
And congrats on the quick sale RockJock!

Would anybody have any idea where I could find a original MTR spare. Or is that just out of the question since they are obviously not produced any more. //popcorn//
-
Idk locally. Every now and then one will pop up on CL or a forum that's not too far, but you'll have to watch the interwebs. I just listed them on CF. Might spark some interest from some guys there.

I have one for my spare. Its has great tread. I would trade for another 35" of comparable tread.

Thanks Will for keeping your eyes open.
Matt I don't currently have a spare to trade for yours. I might possibly be interested if you wanted to sell. Just let me know.
The other option I have is buying a new tire ( say the new MTR) and just keeping as a spare until I get new tires down the road and then throw it in the rotation. //???//
-
I just thought of something.... You can get one of those military surplus tires that have the same tread, but they are 16.5" I think.

The 16.5 hummer tires are inexpensive, but very hard. Probably not the best for offroading.
-
What I am going to do is get the km2 as a spare. And whenever the time for tires comes I will reassess the situation. That way I am not set with a specific tire choice in say 2 years or so
