Title: I think someone stole a package, what to do?
Post by: Jimmy on August 07, 2008, 04:46:19 PM
So, I ordered a t-shirt from www.rock-wear.com on July 20th, and yesterday after wondering where my shirt was, I called Matt at Rock-Wear. After some research, we found out that my shirt was delivered on 26th. I asked my neighbor, and she said she remembers seeing a package leaned up against our door that day, but didn't pick it up for us since she knew we were just out running errands. So now I am really pissed off, the shirt was only $20 but its the principle of the whole matter.

What I've thought about doing, is borrowing a trail camera (the kind you put up in a tree and takes a photo every time game walks by) from a buddy and setting it up on the dash of my Jeep (which faces my door) and putting a fake package on my door. Of course I would leave a witty message in the box like "smile! you've just been caught on film committing felony mail tampering" or a picture of my middle finger.

Also, I've got a bit of a moral dilemma. Matt (who's awesome to deal with, btw), shot me an email asking what he could do to ensure that I have a satisfactory dealing with his company. Now, I want my daggum shirt but its not his fault my junk got stolen.

And since I know the Macon jokes are coming, I don't think some "democrat" would wear a Crawl Mag t-shirt. Well, maybe, but this one isn't 2XL, super duper extra ultra long, its a size medium. There is thing 10 or 11 year old kid that always is just kind of wandering around the apartments, but he's always seemed like an ok kid and always talks to me about my Jeep when he sees me. Maybe I'll ask him if he knows any other kids that take packages and see if he gets squirmy.

I hate fuckin thieves....

Yeah, I sent him an email back telling him that if he felt inclined to send me one, I would greatly appreciate it, but if not thats fine and I'll order another one.

I hate it when somebody steels my package. You sure it wasn't the girlfriend? Tell her to give it back. A man just ain't a man without his package.  ::)

I can't come up with an other jokes that have not been said already. That sucks. I suggest rigging up some sort of sling/swinging tree limb of death like in predator. It works every time for those ankle slashin shirt stealin winos! ;)

Did Dirty Jobs really go to Gray?  What there could compare to the LA sewers, or the butcher house cleanup?

It's your choice how you want to handle it, but the fact is the package was undelivered.  You're not responsible for it until it's in your hands.  The seller should step up and send you a new one.

Have you ever dealt with UPS, USPS or FEDEX?  I deal with them daily and unfortunately, it doesnt work that way.  It is ok for them to leave a package unattended UNLESS you specifically state "SIGNATURE REQUIRED".

Only issue I ever had was 1 package went missing but it was a little different. Jimmy’s neighbor at least saw it by his door, I have no clue if mine was actually delivered or not.

Basically status said Delivered and when I got home no package. I waited a day cause people make mistakes, whatever, its just a rear sway bar for the car so no big deal. Next day, nothing, so I call Road Race Motorsports and they say not their problem so I call my CC and stop the transaction. THEN RRM calls me back to be helpful and they tell me to call UPS. Well after 5 or 6 phone calls from UPS folks they send the driver out to get a form signed stating I did not receive the package. After that I got my money refunded from RRM.

O and the UPS driver tells me, no lie, “man I remember brining it here, I left it with someone walking by your house. They stopped when I pulled up so I figured they lived here”……

Call and process a claim with the shipper (UPS, DHL, USPS). It is the only thing you can do. Once it leaves the seller it is no longer there responsibility. So that will be a dead end road.

I'm beginning to think that 4wd tricked me  >:(  I bought those neoprene seat covers only because you get the rear for free (saves you like $100). So they send me the fronts only, and I call to ask about the rear,

"Oh, they're on backorder they'll be there in a week"

Next time I call,

"Well, they're gonna be a few more week, it's not like you paid for it or anything..."

The guy really said that! "It's not like you paid for it." I wanted to b*tch slap the crap out of that dude. "No, i didn't actually pay for that, but I would have never bought the fronts if I didn't et the rear for free, so I want my seat cover!"

So, yeah, I feel robbed too Jimmy. It hurts. Been over a month. I want my stupid seat cover.

We have parts that stay on backorder. All customers want a specific date which you cant give them or they will hold you to it. The manufacturers wont give you a specific date just a time frame that they just keep pushing back on you. So you tell the customer two weeks. They call back. Tell them we still havent seen them they are due in anytime. They call back again. I will have to check with the manufacturer we were supposed to have these weeks ago. And you just keep going until the customer cancels or they arrive and make the customer happy. Its a sorry process but it all goes back to the people making the product. Some place wait until they have X amount order from the retailers then they start making them. They have to change out tooling and what not. ITS GAY!!

The fronts already have my greasy hand prints all over them, and I bet they would want them back since those are the ones I actually paid for.

What are Iggee's?

Worth every penny.  $245 for all 4 is a deal, and they fit like they are new seats, not covers.

No need, vinyl seats in great condition now.  Had them in a 90 and in a 94.  It's like having leather weather proof seats.

Have you ever dealt with UPS, USPS or FEDEX?  I deal with them daily and unfortunately, it doesnt work that way.  It is ok for them to leave a package unattended UNLESS you specifically state "SIGNATURE REQUIRED".

The delivery service is a different service.  They're not going to do jack, because they'll lose out on the situation.  I've dealt with this type of issue countless times over the years.  You call the company that shipped them and tell them they need to take care of it -- of course in a polite and professional manner.  Most of the time it's not a problem and they take care of it.  Occasionally, they don't.  At that point you tell them that you will be disputing the charge with your credit card company.  The next call is to the credit card company.  You explain the situation and if it's a larger junk of money you have to fill out a form (cannot remember what it's called) and they take care of the rest.  It's worked the same way with different credit card companies I've used over the years.
