Title: PBR
Post by: Inavacuum on October 09, 2008, 01:40:04 PM
Okay, need some input.

Yesterday in the shop, we all got to sitting around and shootin the shit. It was pouring rain outside and nobody felt like working. We got on the subject of PBR. For some reason it is hard to find PBR in a lot of places, and some places just don't even know what it is. So one guy says that Miller Lite is the most comparable and another says that Bud Select is the most comparable. Which of the two, if either do you guys think is mos comparable.

PBB makes me think of the smell that would come from a vigorous scratching of my sweaty nuts and finger stirring a glass of Perrier after a hard day of landscaping in the dead of a Califronian summer.

I definitely appreciate a good beer, but I'm in school so I drink whatever is in the fridge. And that's usually the cheap stuff. Stones and Natties.  ;D

I'm in a similar situation but unless it is ice cold I cannot drink a Nattie. And I mean if the beer is above 32 degrees Fahrenheit, I cannot drink it.

I think Natties are a Troup County thing, I have a friend from there and that's all he drinks.

Nothing like some Natty light when you are poor. When I use to visit my brother down there in Milledgeville thats all they drank!

Just for the record: Bud Light and Nattie have the exact same ingredients. The only difference is that one is brewed a little longer than the other. And believe it or not, Natural Light was supposed to be the premier light beer from Anheuser Busch but due to marketing concepts people associated Bud light to Budweiser and so it became the popular light beer instead. So if you like bud light save yourself some money and drink Nattie lite's.

I'm not 100 percent sure about this but since Anheuser is being purchased by a Belgium company I think PBR is the largest American owned brewery now...............................

Personally, nothing beats a good swig of Gentlemen Jack {toast}

Bud Light still tastes worlds better than Natty, but Bud Select trumps them both. Natty is the oldest light beer, but Bud Light is the #1 selling for a reason!

I really couldn't tell you as I don't drink AB products. For some reason I get the worst headaches from there stuff. Not from a hang over either, I tried drinking bud light a few times but after 2 or 3 drinks my head starts hurting. But, I can drink Miller Lite all night long with no problems, and usually with no hang over. I have tried the Bud Select and it was like drinking ice water with a hint of flavor.

1.  If you hate PBR, you hate America.
2.  Natty Light is an acceptable substitue for PBR.  Miller Lite if you're feeling "uppity".  :)

See, to me, Bud Select has more taste than Bud Light. But, after a few, everything tastes the same anyway.

Richard, if you want to be a true Maconite, you need to chase your Colt with Steel Reserve!

Jimmy, bud select is a mighty good beer. I like Coors over BL though. Mountains turn blue, you know what to do! ;)

I've never liked Coors, I am a little partial though.....Bud Light was the first beer I ever drank. Oh, and Beth's grandfather used to own a huge Budweiser distributorship.

I don't know.. I guess I have standards.  I'm a Killian's man myself.  I have been known to down some PBR, but that's just because the cash was low.  It's either Killian's or Newcastle for me.  I know they're not American but.. I'm just supporting global friendship... and whatnot.

Mike let me try this stuff, Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse, at River Rock. That stuff is heaven.

I agree with Ben, Coors over Bud. But it's all about what you're brought up on as far as American light beer preference goes. Drink Coors light for 2 months and the first Bud Select you have is gonna taste like piss.

I also agree with J-dog, take any Natural Light and any Bud light, and the Bud is gonna taste better, everytime.

Not only does Coors make a great beer (both Light and Heavy), they are great innovators. Both the Blue turning mountains and who doesn't love the vented wide mouth can?

But its hard to beat a good ole Yuengling.

It doesn't matter AB, Coors, or Miller are not American beers either! AB belongs to Belgium now, Coors is owned by Molsen Brewery from Canada and Miller is owned by a brewery in South Africa. PBR is the only American brewery left other than the small town breweries like Sweetwater.

Yeah, I know that.  Dave had said if you hate PBR you hate America.  I can't drink certain stuff.  Like most Flying Dog beers, Sweetwater.. it's all a little heavy for me.  Real stout.  I just can't drink those like I can Killians.. Red Stripe is good for me too.  It's a little sweeter than I remember it being though.

Oh, I also got hooked on Cabo Wabo and orange flavor Rockstar. Sorry if I pirated your PBR question. {btt} PBR? I guess, if thats all you have to drink. ;D
