anyone want to ride? Megan is out of town this weekend and I cant make Mountainside because of a camping trip so wanted to see if someone wanted to ride Saturday? I got the camera and ready for lots of pictures!
-
Gotta work this weekend. :(
-
I'd be up for it, but I'm breaking in gears.
-
Jerm, I will let you know. My wife is out of town. If I can get my Mom to watch the kids Saturday I am in!
-
you have not made the 500 mile mark yet? come on man!!! O well, when you do, let me know, Morris Mountain is not so far from this side of the city now.
Ben, keep me updated buddy. I wont be doing the extreme things you can do but ill take pictures likes no tomorrow!
-
Where is Morris Mountain?
-
Morris Mountain is located 10 miles south of Interstate 20 on Highway 9, just East of Anniston, Alabama. Halfway between Birmingham and Atlanta.
-
Hey Jerm, if it's not wet I think I'll ride with ya. I'll let you know for sure by Friday, but I should know tomorrow. Do you know what's going on this weekend?
-

No events on the calender but Ill send them an email to confirm. Friday chance of rain is 40%, high 90, Saturday 30% chance of rain, high 91. Figure if it does rain with those temps and sun it should dry out quick. To bad we cant do like River Rock for a day but I wouldnt want to pay $50 for a day.
-
Well, how about Beasley? I could swing that alot better being an hour or so away! $$$$$$$$$$$$ Never been there and I hear it is a good ride. Jerm, maybe a good tester for the rig too? Pack a lunch, then get some country dinner in town?!
-
I am down for it as well but it is a little further for me. I am about 80 miles to Morris Mountain, about 110 to Beasley. Not sure for Will but if he is in LaGrange I would think Morris Mountain is a lot closer to him as well.
On the flip side Beasley does only cost $5 where as Morris Mountain cost $20. But rain will make Beasley hell and forecast right now is showing 60% friday, 40% saturday.
-
You won't hurt my feelings if you go to the Knob. Just let me know if you plan on going to Morris Mountain.
-
Morris is $30 on the weekends! It will cost me a tank and a 1/2 of gas plus $30 to ride. I can get to beasley and ride on 3/4 tank and cost $5. I am doing the math here. It's only 30 miles more for you and cost is a fraction to Morris. Just a thought. If it rains friday I will not be going anyway. I am behind on yard work since my vacation. Let's see what Will thinks. I could show you guys a few cool trails near Dahlonega. Nothing real hard but there fun. Nice places to eat lunch near creeks. Just a thought.
-
thats $30 for the whole weekend boss! $20 for 1 day
Will can you fo' sho do morris saturday?

You know I've never been to the Knob either.... I'd have to organize the funds to see if I could make it up there, but it's in consideration. Yeah, I'd for sure roll up to Morris Mountain if some guys were gonna be there. It's an hour or so up the road.
-
If you guys are thinking of going to Beasley then let me know. I may be able to make it up there.
-
I'm, (my wife and daughter too), going to Morris Mt. next weekend, the 26th. First time back out since my "incident". Never been and looking forward to it. ;D So far the weather is "suppose" to be ok, no rain.
I'll post some pics when I get back.
I'd like to do Beasley sometime and Tellico before the end of the year.
-
I might be able to swing Beasley on Saturday. Got my niece's B-Day, but she's only 2, so I doubt she'll miss me.
-
morris mountain is a pretty good place Vince, ever been? The trail map lacks a bit but other than that it is good.
Fellas, sound like we have a decent following for Beasley... yall want to go there instead? Will let me know if you can arrange funds for it (remember it is $15 less to ride beasley so a little over 3 gallons of gas, lol). I guess lets just keep an eye on the weather and I will call the Ranger station Friday to confirm open or close. If not ill probably head to Morris Mountain saturday. It is still closed status online

Hey Krawler... Beasley is great and much challenge. But, I would not go if it has rained a good bit unless you like mud. It does have some great trails. I had a good time there last weekend. And a big $5 is very inviting. . Been thinking about going myself Saturday morning. Would like to get some trail riding in before my trip. I kinda would need to leave for home Saturday nite though to return home. Need to do a service and some work on the Harley before wife&I head out to Sturgis and Colorado. we plan to leave next friday. I just may meet you up there. Its only a couple hrs away for me also. There is a Best Western down the road a mile thats pretty reasonable, if you talk him down ;)

I am watching the weather. If it stays good and is open I am for Beasley. I need to be home round 6 or so to get my little ones. Let's see how the weather turns out. At this point I would love to do Morris but I can't drop the kids off early enough to make the trip worth it. I also can't leave them at grandmas till 9pm either. SSSOOOOOO we'll see.
-
crap. I have no CB so this is going to SUCK! I gots to get me on the ASAP. I probably swing by HD Friday and pick up my fire extinguisher.
-
It'll be alright. Just start practicing your hand signals! :D
-
I am in for Beasley if no rain. How long does it take to ride the trails. From what I know it is not much. If they are closed I may head up to some of my logging trail roads for a 1/2 day of riding.
-
distance to both is only 7 min differance for me, lol. mind if i tag along guys?

Not sure. Only went once and from what I remember our big group rode most everything and still left mid day. That was including lunch, air down/up and having some issues with Matt's Durango over heating.
Lets start talking about meet up times. It will take me about 1.5 hours to get there and if Will comes it will take him like 2.5 hours to get there. I was thinking if Will does come maybe like 9:30, if not we could push it back to 9. Opinions?
Best I can remember there is a Waffle house not but a mile or 2 down the road from the trail so we could plan to meet there, but not eat unless yall want to go earlier. For you East ATL people once you come up 129 you have to take a loop ramp at a stop sign to get on to HWY 515 and Waffle house should be on your right.

Well dang, my luck has been awesome this weekend. My mom's water pump went out in the Chrysler so I'll be shuttling her around this weekend. Not gonna make it up to the Knob. You guys have fun though. :P

:hlp No kidding. Got to pull the gas tank out now. Found out I broke two of the tabs off it that hold it down. No more riding around without the cooler, tool box and other stuff strapped down.
-
Yeah, he has a nice lawn ornament now. :D Jerm, let's get a head count. Maybe post up a sign in for the ride to Beasley. I will see how early I can drop my kids off. Hopefully I can get them over early. Is a 10am arrival too late? I can't drop my kids off super early. :(

Cool. We will be set for a great day of riding! NO RAIN EVEN MENTIONED! I took the top off this morning and putting the bikini on this afternoon. Bringing the half soft doors only on this ride. It has been way too long without the top on. Every ride we have gone on has had a chance of rain. And when you have a hardtop there is no in between. I am looking forward to a fun easy day of riding. Not to mention somewhere new! ;D
-
should be a good day out. The guy from Jeep forum said he is going to come, might be a few minutes late but I told him to call because we like to be on time. I have not been to Beasley is over a year so I am excited
-
is beasley about as difficult as aetna or do they have harder trails?
-
Not sure. Aetna was easy and fun. From what I hear, Beasley is a bunch of hill climbs and not much Krawling action. Bummer there but it should be a great day! Jerm, is there a town circle that you go around , then turn? Been to Blairsville but not in a long time. It is telling me 2.3 hours which I know I can beat. Just gotta go by Vogel state park and that road is forever! My sister is coming to get the kids by 8 am tommorrow so I should make it by 10 or slightly after.
-
mainly hills, very little crawling but there is some.
Ben, coming up 129 into Blairsville you will go through a "round a bout", take your second Right (staying on 129 as if in a straight line going through the circle and then you will come to a stop sign. I think its a 3 way stop, you need to turn left to get on 515/76. The waffle house will be on your right hand side once on HWY 515. Make sure you got my number from the member section and call me if you are running late. I think you can beat 2 hours, I can get to Murphy from Lilburn in about 2 hours
-
Yeah, they are conservitive on times. I go atleast 10 over the limit. You sure I turn left? Map shows a righ turn. after the round about. I got your # so if I have any issues I will buzz you. Cell service is hit and miss after cleveland. Mountains cover that area.
-

I am pretty sure it is left. I think I remember taking a left when I went that way with Matt. The map program at work shows the round a bout in blairsville (think church is in the center of it), go straight through it, then there will be a road on your right named Young Harris Street (not at stop sign). Maybe your directions are taking you that way because it does go down onto HWY 515/76. Just not sure if it comes out before or after Waffle House though. If you go past Young Harris Street there will be a stop sign and then you hang a left onto the on ramp.
-
Either way I can sniff out a waffle house from a few miles away. mmmmmmm.... waffles. :P
-

I did, but you got the message anyway and started another thread. I saw it was a Morris Mountain Thread, and y'all are going to Beasley, and didn't want somebody heading off the wrong place, but there are folks there too! ;D Have fun!
