Well, I got one good..err...great run in today: rock garden. I took what I think was one of the hard lines...low gear, slow, and it flexed like it should. No rubbing, no scraping, and smooth as silk.
Then I lost some steering control (once I was out of the fun stuff) because the hydro assist piston attachment on the drag link spun. That bent the helm on that end a bit so that it couldn't be positioned properly, plus the connection continued to spin. It couldn't be tightened enough because the Allen heads stripped out. The solution for this trip was to cap the hydro ports on the gear box, remove the ram, and I'm ready to wheel tomorrow, but with more effort.
I'll find a better solution when I get back to Atlanta. Mo problems, mo money.

Tough one Torg. Atleast it is wheelable. Jorge get taken care of?

I don't know, but I'm interested in the outcome. I think he drove it here, so I hope it gets taken care of. I can't street mine with the reds, so my trailer isn't a option unless Danny brings my 37s mounted on some wheels, which why not bring a new shaft instead.

The team really stepped up and towed off the mountain. Tony's trailer and Kevin with his truck. We worked on my the axle till around 11:00 but realized I that it needs to be towed in and worked in a shop. Many helped but special thanks to AJ for everything.

So you broke your assist cylinder's piston mount or what exactly broke? The little tie Rod clamp?

Why not just have it welded locally?

He said he had a welder. I'm guessing that thing is aluminum. Weld a bead on the drag link on each side of it so it cant slide up and down the tube. If it spins I'm not sure what I'd do. I've driven from the top of Gauntlet to my trailer without power steering once. It sucks.

I have no excuses for killing that poor tree. They call me treekiller. But the fact is I was staring right into the sun and with a glare on the windshield and I never saw that poor tree. I've heard of PETA (people eating tasty animals) but hope PETT does not hear of this. (people for the ethical treatment of trees). new tough heavy duty fenders probably in my future. Dead tree number two. First was at Mountainside.

I had a trailer tire blow out near Kennesaw. Luckily I had the floor jack, battery powered impact, full set of impact sockets, and keys to the cable lock. Took about 10 minutes of work to change, but sucks doing it on the side of a busy highway.
Many thanks to Wes for stopping to supervise...err, help.

Another awesome trip to Harlan! My upgrades proved to be functional. Fenders kept me off a rock in Your Turn, rear bumper drastically improved my departure angle. Here are a few pics from my phone, but I have more on my camera that I'll post later. Got home about 3pm today. Tow Piglet and new trailer worked perfect. Smooth pull up and back.
Great trip! Learned a few things as always:
1. RCV's can break
2. The trail on the far northeast part of the mountain, White Tail Crawl, is killer
And 3. Drunk Justin is hilarious!

White tail is fun. Not so much in the rain when you're changing out a tire though. What part of your RCV broke?

Best trails for me were Mason Jar, Your Turn, and White Tail Crawl. Also enjoyed the short Grapevine and Steel Hill obstacles. First time @ Harlan and not breaking something.

Mine are good. Jorge, canejeep, broke the shoe side at the splines.
-
Well, I got back about 3 pm. I unloaded the green machine and detailed the heck out of it. Then I adjusted the suspension, cleaned all of the coolers, fixed my CB, and cleaned a bunch of parts I'm putting up for sale soon. Pretty productive, I think.
Oh...sorry, that was in a dream I had during the nap I took almost immediately after getting home.
The jeep is off the trailer now.

Carnage report. Turns out I did sling a drive shaft weight on Whitetail. Pretty bad vibration at 78+mph. I first thought it was a rear end or tire but when I got home and really looked closely it was a weight on the DS. Front diff cover is now leaking from bashin several times and my bullydog tuner got wet from the rain and now won't turn on. I have placed in front of a hair dryer and it is now in dry rice to see if it will recover. Overall an AWESOME week! can't wait til next year!

Well #3 Harlan was awesome for me!! I had a blast! I added a couple more dents, but they will be covered up when I put on the armor. I somehow popped out my LR tail light on Your Turn. No damage and it went right back in. Short of my concerns that I had a transfer case failure on Friday, which ended up being a bad front driveshaft. I had no issues. My rig wheeled fine with the "clicking" CV joint on the driveshaft. Bonus, Bill (Kevin"s buddy) has a stock spare he's giving me. That should get me by another 3-4 years.
Things to note:
You certainly do not need a steering stabilizer. With my new RK LCA's and RK massive steering I was rolling at 85+ over bridges and bumps with no wobble or shakes.
White Tail Crawl is freaking AWESOME!!
Jay whines when you wheel his rig at night.
The deer are cool to watch

I have to admit I was a nervous wreck about my truck until I pulled in the driveway finally this evenin, it had drank/leaked about 3qts of oil just from the house to Harlan, had to fill it up on the way home, it pretty much finished the turbo off and was wayyyy down on power on the way home. My motor guy should have the new beast motor finished in the next couple weeks and get it in soon, so thatl be a relief before the next long haul.

I had a great time with my new TC (thanks to Danny @PHANTOM and AllSouth team), was able to do several trails i never did before and felt much better about my crawl speed. still need some seat time, im still young in wheeling unlike many others. kudos to all the great spotters we have in our club. could not have gotten thru much of white tail/or mason jar without several folks helping.
I may be missing someone but wanted to give a few special shouts to Bobby @cru9 (working like a dog running up and down trails to spot), Tony @tcdawg for doing the same, plus leading a group with me in it, Jay @Raisinhead for some much needed spotting at several critical spots, .. Marc @ranier1315 and Don @BigPrince for putting up with my Odd behavior, Kevin @tjsahara00 for the encouragement and Todd @tazstoy ! for the Much needed pep talk to get me onto that White Tail trail, spotting and not beating my ass when i hit him with my tire.
Thanks to AJ @gint2 for some advise on future mods i may be looking for, and to Jonathan @jgerhard for the encouragement and advice on helping me understand some much needed things on my rig.
All around, glad im with a great group of guys. thanks again
//cheers2// //SLAMIN//

I had a great time......
I'm one happy old man. After a complete rebuild on
my Jeep then have the first trail ride at Harlan and
not break anything!! Did not have ONE issue with
Jeep (other than not bringing a top for the flood).
The pay off for after all the time and money was
when after 3 rigs had to winch up a nasty ass spot
I was the first to make it and I started hoot'n and
hollering (felt like a kid). I am 100% satisfied with
my build....thanks Bill vonsclick (beanie hat)
Thanks to Clark clark123456 for letting us use his
nitrogen to dial in the rear ORI's. Thanks for all the food
which was awesome! As always great club effort and
fellowship.

Had a great time with the group, very intense park! My new suspension and shock upgrades and the hydro assist were big increases in capability plus airing down alot lower. I really learned alot watching the guys pick lines in the rocks and I was able to see lines myself and stay on them. I'm only just now starting to see what the rig can actually do. The JK rode perfect driving home so the hardening I've done to the front end has made a huge improvement.
Great conversations, great food, great scenery! Thanks Marc for the spotting you did for me. Will post pics from my camera tonight or tomorrow, got alot at the white tail crawl.

Todd's work at the end of White Trail Crawl was legendary. He deserves many cold drinks from lots of the guys for that.

I know it was a fun trip. Always is. Glad everyone made it home and no issues on the drive back. Sorry I missed it //ballnchain//

No....Kirk said he would do it if we all went. The day was dragging real slow
and everyone decided to go ride more trails and Kirk was fine with that.

Given that it started raining shortly after that, it was a good decision.

Yeah it would have sucked big time with someone trying Lion's Den in the rain. Monster street cred if you had done it though!

Any attempts at Lion's Den?
I really wanted to do it, but I was concerned about breaking down there and the recovery.
We watched a exocage Toyota run it: winched to get to the entrance (pegged between rocks in front of front diff and behind the rear diff), dropped in fine, winched to get past the 90* right turn after the tree, then had to winch to get over the next 90* left turn, then crawled out fine. He broke his wake tower speaker off, but everything else was good to go.

Yup, I actually handed the camera to Jonathan to snap a few pics on that spot for us. So he gets credit for those. All I did was move the rocks around for you so you could make it. :)

I shortened the amount of the slow mo portion. Also, posting compresses the video, so I can send the full to you if you want.
