Are any of the June rides tame enough for a stock TJ? I have all of the required equipment. Also, do you have inspections the day of the ride or would I need to get it inspected the week prior?
Thanks
Shannon

If you are on stock suspension with 31's, I am afraid you would be hanging up left and right at Tellico. At Aetna, you could get around, but there are several places you would be challenged as well. I suggest atleast a budget boost for anywhere we ride. Sorry, just being honest. :-[ As far as inspections, we do not have an inspection, but when the time comes that you need a piece of required equipment and you don't have it, it will be hard on you. While we strive to help anyone along, those who chose not to gather the equipment that we all ride with could potentially end up having a horrible time.

That is what I wanted. Thanks.. I will look into a BB.

I have a 2" budget boost if your interested pm me.
-
budget boosts are like suspension spacers right?
-
Yes
-
They are pretty cheap. I picked one up for $60. And some longer shocks for $40. Tellico might be harsh but most other places have enough to keep you entertained. We would love to have you join us.
-
Get some disconnects for the front and you will be able to go alot of places. Just pick different lines.

I can't comment on the disconnects because I haven't had a sway bar since June of '07, but lines are definitely key. A proper line will get you plenty of places.

Preferably around large bottemless trenches! :D

Exactly.. which, tires that clean themselves out rather well help out that situation as well.
-
Yes, they do.
-
Thanks everyone for the advice. I am saving up for an OME lift, but I may have to do a BB in the mean time. I have the BFG 31" AT tires. How are they about cleaning themselves?
-
Not as good as a mud terrain tire, but not too shabby from what I've seen of the people that have them. Kinda a good all around tire. So-So off road, real good on road and have a decently long tread life.
-
Has to be one of my favorite tires made. Great tread life and good offroad. I have owned 4 sets and loved all of them. Good on rocks. Mud... eh. But if you spens most of the time on road then it makes sense.

But when has offroading ever made sense? Most of us daily drive our 4x4s and we make them handle worse on road just to spend a little time each year offroad.
But for a good tire, I would go with a Copper STT. Aggressive design, but still very quiet and its suppose to have good tread life.
-
Ultimate setup for a DD would be to have 2 sets of tires and rims. One for driving, one for wheelin. I hope to have a cheap DD soon so I can get the Jeep off the road for awhile. But if I could do it I would have 2 sets ready to go.

I rode Tellico last year on 31" MTRs and a 2.5" BB on my WJ. I had a great time but yes it is much more difficult to pick lines. I would not try 31s without a BB, full skids and sliders/rock rails.
-
Also, Tellico is WAYYYYY more rutted and washed out than it was 1 year ago. Believe that.

I can vouch for that. My 33s and 3 inch lifted ass was dragging on everything.

Sorry to bring back this old thread. I finally got a 2.5" lift and disconnects. I still have 31s so hopefully I should be set to go on some of the rides. The only thing left is to install the recovery points in the back. I can't wait to go on some rides and meet some of you guys.

Sounds good. Got any pics?

your just $20-$30 away form having rear tow points. Couple of hooks and some grade 8 bolts and a drill and you done.
-
If your rear bumper has a receiver just stick your pin in it and your ready to go ;D
-
I have the tow hooks.. I just have to get off of my lazy butt and install them. Here is the before and after pics.

Love that color.

how do you like the RC 2.5" lift? It looks like a freakin bargain, and add a 1" BL and you can fit 33's. You'll be fine riding on 31s, I do. I've just made my priority armor, if you're gonna sit low, you're gonna bang on some stuff so you might as well be protected.
-
I like the lift. They gave me a really good deal that I couldn't pass up. I got the lift, stabilizer and quick disconnects. I still have to work out some things. I got some mild vibration so I will need to add some more washers to the transfer case. I really didn't want to use the 1" transfer case drop kit. Also, I had about 3/4" axle shift so I need to install the OME bracket to recenter the axle. Other than that I love the kit. The 2.2 shocks are a lot nicer from what I hear from their old shocks. I would buy it again. Let me know if you want to drive mine around to see if you like it.

I can't believe you had vibes with that little lift. I ran a 2" BB with nothing but each jeep is different. ;)
-
I have heard that some kits are 1 3/4" because at 2" you have a 50/50 chance of vibes, but it's very rare at 1 3/4". Go figure.
-
i've got some vibes with no lift...but thats because i trusted walmart to balance my wheels. i'll be getting that fixed tomorrow.

I just had tires put on 3 weeks ago by 4 Wheel Parts in Norcross. I left for a week and when I came home and opened my garage I seen something under my jeep. All of the stick on weights had fallen off all of the wheels. I tried sticking them back on but they just fell off again. And now because I'm movig to Miami I don't have time to take it back to them to redo, which I would be wasting my time if there just going to put more stickers on my wheels ::)

I got stick on weights. I prefer them. When are you leaving for FL? I am sure Albert would fix them if you call.

I prefer BBs inside the wheel {nln}

u got bb's in ur head

I always have my weights mounted on the inside lip. Never have any problems. Stick ons never last it seems.

Matt, I'm sure he would, but I just don't have time to go back. I'm in Miami now, wife is packing and bringing the u-haul an jeep down here on Friday. I did pay the few extra $$$$ for their no questions asked warranty and they said it was good at all of their stores, so I'm hoping I can just bring it to one of their stores down here.

Interesting reading the begining of this thread after I went to Tellico in November. No Lift, Stock suspension, Stock tires.
I had a great time. Scrubbed the belly a bit but I kept right up with a the1's JK X on 32's and Jeremy's JK Unlimited on 33's.
COME ON TAX REFUND!!!! Daddy needs a lift kit and tires!!!
BTW... No baby yet. Due date is 1/15/09. Antici... pation.
Maybe come June I can get out for a ride?
