I don't really need another but at this price... ?
With its lightweight 22 oz. polymer frame, thin profile, and ramped 3.2 inch barrel, the newly designed Millennium G2 is the ideal concealed carry handgun.
—PT 111 the Millennium G2 features
accessory rail,
high-profile sights,
an aggressive,
textured grip and
melted edges for added comfort and easy concealment.

That's about the average price. For Fathers Day, I got mine @ Academy Sports for $299 but it came with a "free" Heritage .22 six shot revolver.
-
That is a lttle less than I paid for mine I believe at Cherokee.
I really llike this gun.....it's a lot better than a few years ago when
it was first introduced. You can read all the reviews. This is
what I carry everyday!

I wouldn't buy a striker fired Taurus. My personal preference based on my experience and the advise from knowledgeable friends.
Thanks Don, what does striker fired mean? Vs pin? School me.
-
No hammer. It has a spring loaded pin that fires the bullet.
The gun feels great in the hand, good capacity & small frame. Good shooter to boot.
-
If you have a failure to fire (we never have- yet) all you need to do is pull the trigger again to fire it.
-
And then they issue of its in TN.
Can I buy there with a CCP? Probably have to pick it up or pay a local to receive it, right?
Why doesn't one of us (means one of you) have a license?

You can't pick up a hand gun out of state. Would need to come to a local FFL.

Doug I just looked back and saw where I paid $249 at Cherokee Gun and Pawn
-
That was the handgun my daughter used in her video
she posted of first time shooting. She first used my
Ruger LC9s then the Taurus. She wouldn't put the
Taurus down after that.....LOL
-
There was a guy from TN in the Gainesville Academy buying a shotgun. He had a CCP.
My question is
Why is a shotgun acceptable but a handgun not? Both go BOOM!!
My question is in relation to having a carry permit. I wounder how many folks with a valid carry license commit any type of crimes? Police excluded.

Doug, any hand gun from out of state has to be shipped to an FFL and transferred by them. I do this pretty regularly. However if the above price at Cherokee is still good you couldn't beat that when you add the shipping and transfer fee.
I know several of the guys at Cherokee and they are stand up folks with great prices that I can't get due to their buying power split between 3 shops.

Shotguns and rifles can be sold to an out of state or non-resident. Handguns cannot. Stupid ATF rule......

I tried to buy a pistol in Florida with My conceal carry license, they said I had to wait 24 hours to get it. Basically you can't buy it on the spot. I was on a road trip so I passed.

If that was the case then the dealer there in Florida was about to break the law. Not saying they did offer to sell but I'm just saying they were wrong. Like in my previous post, Stupid ATF rule......
Licensee refers to an FFL holder. I have held an FFL for 13 years and follow these rules very carefully. I quit selling to non-residents with North Carolina drivers licenses 10 years ago when I found them to not be able to speak english.
May a licensee sell a firearm to a nonlicensee who is a resident of another State?
Generally, a firearm may not lawfully be sold by a licensee to a nonlicensee who resides in a State other than the State in which the seller’s licensed premises is located. However, the sale may be made if the firearm is shipped to a licensee whose business is in the purchaser’s State of residence and the purchaser takes delivery of the firearm from the licensee in his or her State of residence. In addition, a licensee may sell a rifle or shotgun to a person who is not a resident of the State where the licensee’s business premises is located in an over–the–counter transaction, provided the transaction complies with State law in the State where the licensee is located and in the State where the purchaser resides.

Kevin has/had the slim. He likes the G2 better. It also holds more ammo.

I have the Taurus 740 slim
Be willing to sell it....

I would personally stay away from Taurus. For a little more money you can get a better gun. Just my opinion though.

have any of you guys actually had a Taurus that had problems or is all this hate on a manufacturer coming from hearsay and internet commandos?
ive had 4, three new in my name, and i can honestly say ive never had any of them hiccup, fantastic shooters and reliable. the 4th was a pawn shop purchase that unknowingly had been home-gunsmithed to death, but even then Taurus warrantied it and it wasnt even originally bought by me.
now I say all this and i carry either Kimber or Glock, but not even Kimber anymore because it would hiccup every now and then. I do still have the other 3 Taurus and would trust them anytime, face it guys, we are not having to carry them into battle and put tens of thousands of rounds through em, even if I were, id shoot that sucker till it wouldnt run anymore. JMHO. now flame on.

I've had 2 Taurus semi-autos and still have a Taurus .38 revolver that is probably 30 or 40 years. I never had any problems with them but I always considered them a Tier 2 firearm - meaning there is a reason their prices are lower than other top brands.

I've had the same viewpoint as Mike. I think more highly of their revolvers than other lines but even their revolvers aren't on the same level as a Colt. Doesn't mean they are bad guns.
Not like they are hipoints... //poke// //poke// //rere// //;D// //;D//
Exactly. Or Charter Arms. Taurus got their start copying Smiths and Berettas making them in Brazil. But they've come a long way.

As a matter of fact I have had a Taurus, I actually purchased it as my first pistol years back. It was never an accurate pistol, pain in the butt to strip down, didn't carry well and did I mention how horrible the accuracy was. Other than that it was a fine firearm, my dad actually still keeps it around his house for a backup. I personally will never own another Taurus semi auto though. The revolvers on the other hand are another story.
-
Bought my wife a Taurus PT145 about 12 years ago took it out to the range and less than 20 rounds fired the trigger broke. Did a bit more research and found there were a lot of other issues as well with the PT models up to and including the frame cracking.
Sent the pistol back to Taurus and had them repair it under warranty and when I got it back sold it and bought here a Glock G19.
Maybe they have addressed and corrected the issues from the past but I will never buy one again and have it for a personal defense weapon.
On another note the Taurus 1911 frame pistols I've heard both good and bad stories. They would come to around a 60/40 mix with the bad leading the good.
In my personal opinion I would not go less than a S&W, Glock, Sig, FN, or H&K for a duty/PDW for everyday carry. For a cheap truck gun it might be a consideration for someone though.
-
I noticed most of the issues you all experienced was years ago. They've had time to make improvements.
I bought a Ruger P95 years ago. It was useless unless 10 feet or less than the target. I sold it & then went and bought a Ruger SR9. One bad apple didn't spoil my view of Ruger.
-
I had the Taurus PT809 but felt like it was to bulky
for daily carry (17 rounds) Bought the G2 and feel it
is a better size for me to carry compared to my Ruger
LC9s or my Taurus 740 slim.
These are my first handguns so I don't have the pleasure
of firing the better name brands. Hell probably would feel
like y'all if I did try them....just my limited experience.

both of mine are steel frame PT 92 styles, the ones modeled after Beretta, and the third is a revolver thats Beths. I have no doubt that a young company would have problems with a new product or material, but overall itd be hard for me to fault a company with such a good warranty.
On the point of accuracy, every guns shoots different, ive had folks say that one didnt shoot for shit and i could pick it up and it would shoot fine. Then again, ive had guns that pulled or pushed and i couldnt shoot, IMO its mostly user usually, myself included.

The quality of the PT92 today has to be pretty good. They've been making that gun for over 30 years.
