Kent that is a SKS 7.62x39 they are selling for about $400.00 for what you have. If you have the bayonet  and cleaning rod you could get as much as $550.00. I just hope is was cleaned after it was shot. Do you have the original stock and 10 rd clip?

if i can take a picture to help let me know, i have no idea on how to identify what kind it is.   been googleing this all day, the value's are way over what i thought.  anyway, sent you a PM back.  because its so old, im looking to take it to a gun dealer to try and figure out exactly what kind it is.  all i know is it was old when my granddad used it, over 50 years ago, i used it, its got a really long barrel.  side by side, kicks like a mule, and pretty much downs what u aim at.   i was never allowed to use it to hunt Squirrels , cause there was never anything left.   //LMAO//

So, found a price on the SKS.  $300 for Members, posting on GunBrokers end of this week for $375.   having the shotgun looked at by a dealer, will know more about the age,and model soon.

This is for my regear/lockers.  going from 3.21 to 4.88  if nothing else, no one wants to see a JK or any Jeep with 3.21 gears.  //no//

If you pull that fore grip down while the barrel is closed it will pop off and there should be some numbers or writing under the barrel. If you open the barrel while the fore grip is off the barrel will come off two. What ever you do don't clean the patina off. Just wipe it with some gun oil. If you have to you can use some chalk to rub in the engraving to read it. Or use a pencil and paper and do a rubbing of the engraving. Good luck I hope this helps.   //popcorn//

Post high resolution pictures...zoom is better than normal eye sight.  As suggested by Mr Mike, the easiest way to ruin the value is an old firearm (or really any antiquity) is to 'clean' it.

I am seeing lc Smith. Also take it to a reputable shop. If they offer to buy it at all tell them no, because they are always low balling. Walk out of the store with the gun. Get a second opinion

well there is no stamp on the barel, that LC writing is faint, its on a metal part but not the barrel.   like i said, its my granddads, and it was old when he had it, he used it for bird hunting mostly, i would shoot pretty far , i stopped using it when i turned 16 and got a 12g pump.

i wish someone in the club was really good with these things, as much as i want to sell it, i would rather let it go to someone in the club that would give it the love and respect it needs, he also has a .306, im NOT selling that, its old too.   its what i use for deer hunting now. it has a scope, and im keeping it.

I think its really old.  confirmed its LC Smith.  F grade.   hopefully Wed the gun smith can give me a value.

i was looking online.  these range from 1200 to over 4k  ?   now mine is in poor shape.  but it needs someone to love it.   i dont really hunt that much, went deer hunting a few years back with the .306 , i have a 9m and a darengar .38

thinking of selling the Ruger 9m i have 2 15 round clips with Black Talon bullets.  not sure the worth.  will post a new thread when i get some pictures.
