Thoughts?  Too loud?  Good to have around?

What's the intended use?

Edit:  house power outage, camping power, going off grid in your primary house, temporary 220v for a welded/plasma/air compressor, deer camp power?

It's for his blowup doll that he sleeps with.

3200 running watts is not a lot.
What are you planning to do with it?

Thread derail... Kent is on fire as of late. I applaud you good sir. As for the generator, always good to have but this one would be loud. If you want it for power outage than cool but not around a campground. I want to invest in one of those small quiet suckers that cost a fortune... but too rich for my blood. This is a good deal for backup power.

What's the decibel rating on the expensive "quiet" ones?

Honda EU series is between 49 and 60. Even the 7000.  Not a huge difference

Don't know the numbers but we have a honda here at work we use for shows and it is super quiet. You can have it next to the table and talk just fine over it. Definitely worth the money for that and portability. Does not weigh much at all.

I believe so. Powers 4 lit model display cases, TV/dvd combo and trailer lights inside no issues.

I just did a quick search and man, I might just buy this one today! Be good for camping.  CHEAP!  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sportsman-1000-Watt-Inverter-Generator-CARB-Approved/55484475?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227071739105&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=182433824626&wl4=pla-315195346684&wl5=9011108&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=55484475&wl13=&veh=sem

Pretty good deal. The HF Honda knockoff is about the same price but its 85 db.
If the Wal mart gen could run my a.c. I'd like to get one.

I'm gonna buy it. Too good a deal to pass up. Even if it gets used for simple things like powering lights in my camper and fridge inside I will be happy.

My Rigid 7500 is rated at 71db...and I promise you it is significantly louder than my Honda EU2000i.

My 16HP V twin Briggs and Straton 8000w sounds like a train lol

I didn't think 10db was all that much from my sound measuring experience.  Maybe its also tone.

Significantly < HUGE

The db is fairly misleading. To our ear an increase in 10 db sounds twice as loud therefore something that has a DB rating of 70 will sound 4x as loud as something with a db rating of 50. Still probably quieter than the generator I have sitting in my basement.

Interesting... we recently tested compressors for our new building and 10db wasn't that much different, based on their specs.

I know it takes a heck of a lot of watts/power to double the db's in a sound system.

I have a db meter I'll bring to camp next time for comparison.

There are also DB apps you can download. Not sure on their accuracy though.

I downloaded two of them and they are both VERY close in the measurements of an active conversation I have occurring on a conference bridge.
