- If you do not see a new event or ride for the upcoming month this means it is a Core members only ride.
Core member rides are generally smaller groups and very organized (We still break off into smaller groups of similar built rigs)
- There is more information about becoming a Core Member at the top of the forum under the "Core Membership" button.
- The "Profile" button at the top holds all of your information.
GEORGIA TRAIL RIDERS : FORUM RULES
1. You must be 18 years of age or older, to be a member of GATR. Most parks require this age to ride.
2. We ask that you behave like you would in person.
3. Please keep all profanity or "flaming" in the Mud Pit. If you do not have access to the Mud Pit, then please refrain from posting any profanity in your post.
4. This club has a zero tolerance against arguing, slander, racism, and name calling. That goes for on the trail or openly on this forum. You will be banned if you are found in violation of one of these actions. Please settle your differences through PM or Email, if you cannot please contact a Moderator through PM or Email. If you cannot be civilized and find a solution to your problem without dragging it out on this forum, then you do not belong.
5. Only GATR CORE members can post rides on Georgia Trail Riders forum :
- Do not post a ride or an event unless you are a Core Member of Georgia Trail Riders!
- No ride may be posted that conflicts with a GATR ride.
6. We ask that you do not bring any ATV, Dirt Bike or UTV on any GATR ride, unless a TRO or Mod approves it prior to the ride.
7. If planning on attending a GATR event, make sure you have all the required gear. We will not be responsible for your vehicle on any ride.
8. When selling an item in the "Classifieds" section, you must post a DESCRIPTION, PRICE, PHOTO, and LOCATION, and it must be your item. If you post best offer, or for a friend, it will be deleted. Please remember that the classifieds section of the forum is for our members to sell used or unwanted parts.
If you bought the part with the intention to resell it for a profit then it shouldn't be on here. If you have a "new in box" part, but you do not need it, it doesn't fit, or a similar circumstance then you are fine to sell it.
No Soliciting!
9. No flaming in classifieds. If you make a comment, suggestion, or opinion on a classified ad, good or bad, true or not, your post will be deleted. A respectful bump or questions only. Use a PM for your opinions to the OP.
10. No advertising new products, unless you are a vendor or sponsor of GATR.
GEORGIA TRAIL RIDERS : RIDE RULES
1. You must be at least 18 years old to attend a GATR ride unless your legal guardian is a member and present with you.
2. No alcohol allowed in the rig on the trail. Passengers may not drink as they could be asked to spot, assist, and even drive. Save it for camp at the end of the day. If you are caught drinking and driving you will be asked to leave the park. If you do not leave, you will be escorted by local law enforcement.
3. We ask that you do not bring any ATV, Dirt Bike or UTV on any GATR ride.
4. Tread lightly and respect all posted signs & markings while on the trails.
5. Do not leave your trash on the trails. Take out more than you bring in.
6. Do not use any language on the radio or in person that is sexually explicit, vulgar, obscene, racially, ethnically, or religiously offensive.
7. Your front facing lights are way cool, but you cannot use them on the trail unless you are the lead rig. They blind the rig in front of you.
8. Always keep the rig behind you in sight. If you lose them stop, and the rig in front of you will stop, etc and the group stays together.
9. When you clear an obstacle, clear the trail ahead far enough, preferably to the side so traffic can pass, so that every rig can clear the obstacle and have room to park.
10. Arrive on time at the posted meeting location ready to ride. Fuel, food, non-alcoholic beverages, tops and doors off, aired down, everything you need. Respect the others that came to ride and not to wait on you or work on your rig. Sounds harsh but that guy you are asking to help on your rig spent $100+ to be there. If you must, arrange it privately and don't expect others to help. Be fueled with all forms complete and permits in hand prior to the drivers meeting or riding time. Standard GATR Driver Meeting or ride time is 9AM. Those that are ready will depart and you can catch up later. Sorry.

GEORGIA TRAIL RIDERS : CABIN & CAMP SITE ETIQUETTE
With so many of us hitting the trails lately, it's important that we use proper etiquette when we leave the pavement. Tread Lightly has a great article on trail etiquette that talks about the various aspects of sharing the trails. Remember, we need to share these trails with many others.
While you're out, don't forget to clean up your trash and bring a bag to grab those stray cans, bottles, etc. you might find along the way. Don't forget: If we want to keep our trails open, we need to respect them, keep them clean, and respect other users.
Often times we talk so much about trail etiquette we forget about the campsite or cabin areas. As a reminder you are not just representing yourself on these rides you are also leaving a lasting impression of GATR as a group. Since we frequent these areas we want to make sure that the impression we leave will be a responsible and well liked one. Some of you may find this as common sense and some of you may need a refresher course.
Proper Spacing between Tents
Everyone wants a like privacy when they camp. If there are going to be multiple tents in your camp, think about your tent placement and how it will provide you and the other campers with some privacy. A good rule of thumb is to pitch your tent out of "snoring" range of the other tents....especially if you are the one that snores.
You were never there.
To practice "leave no trace" camping:
1) Choose the most durable surface available for your campsite. Rock, sand, or dry grassy meadows are your best options.
2) Always select a heavily impacted site over one with little or no signs of use.
3) Set up your tent out of site of any trails and at least 200 feet from water and game trails.
Obvious Camping Etiquette
Here are some obivious camping etiquette thoughts. Please protect our great backcountry.
If you carry it in, please carry it out-this will eliminate litter.
Camp in a designated campsite within the campground, unless you have obtained a special backcountry camping permit.
Protect water sources from contamination.
Be a good neighbor - control your noise and your pets.
Be respectful of the natural environment -- keep the trees and shrubs alive and growing.
When hiking, stay on designated trails. This keeps damage to vegetation and erosion in one place.
Barking and not cleaning up after pets leads to many complaints from other campers. Campers are responsible for their pets at all times. Do not leave them unattended. Pets should be on a leash 6 feet or less, in length.
Quiet Hours are typically from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.. Voices carry far at night. Moderation is essential.
One of the main reasons to camp is so that you can enjoy the peace you can only find in a remote place. So you may not want to bring your boombox, especially, if someone else is going to be in your camp. When in doubt, ask others if it is OK to listen to the music or the ballgame.
Nails and wires should not be used on trees because they can cause serious damage to trees. It is illegal in some states to put nails into a tree, unless you have permission from the landowner. Burn damage will permanently scar or kill a tree.
Before leaving the campsite, clean your fire pit for the next camper.
