Just yesterday I was looking for information on it.  It took forever to find the dates on their website.

I'm planning to go as long as it doesn't rain.

i used to go. The trail rides are really crappy. The harder parts of the obstacle course are pretty fun though. I am skipping this year though unless @cru9 or @Raisinhead wants to let me ride passenger in their jeep for the "R rated trail".

Go walk around the vendor area. DO NOT go on any rides  //no//.  Obstacle course is OK too.

What is the R Rated trail?  Equivalent to a bunny slope at Harlan?  I'm game to hit anything they have (except the mud puddles).  Unless the R rated trail is code for some grab assi'n with y'all.

most likely that is jays meaning of r rated but who knows. If you end up going holler at me and i may meet you down there as i would like to check out the "tough" trail.

Can't wait to see some JKUR w/37 AT's on 20's, 3.73 gears and a winch.  Too funny.

I understand why they're trying to keep the non-capable rigs out but those requirements are just silly.  Pretty much need someone that knows something at the trail head pointing ..... Yes, Yes, No, Yes, LOL No, No, Yes ...

It may not be some people's idea of a jeep event, but in the end it's for a great cause and brings like minded people together. I agree the trail rides are pointless they pack so many people on them, but the extreme part of the obstacle course denies a lot of buggies every year.

It is fun just to go see all the different Jeep. My wife absolutely loves going & I'm slowly getting her to go to the OHV parks.
The trails are tame but still fun just to cruise them. I went in my Jeep one year & the font end was gutted & no driveshaft. Went on the trails no problem. Last year the worst part of the extreme trail was a really steep hill covered in leaves/ pine needles.
If you go, the best time to go is Friday morning. There is zero traffic. Saturday is a different story.

I've been the last 4 years and it is a great cause. The vendors are great to check out and it's also a blast to just check out the jeeps. I avoid the trail rides after the debacle 2 years ago when I had to tow someone out after he broke both front and rear axles.  I plan to swing by if the weather is good.

Last time I went Gatr had a trail El Presidente or something like that. One of the local clubs put together a ride on Sunday that wasn't very technical but still fun. I might ride over there for the day check out the vendors. Sunday was a good day to hit up the vendors

Was that 2013 or 2014? Did anybody at the jeep fest go down El Presidente? I think the only folks to go down it was when we built it.

I love the vendor area. You can find some good used parts on the 1st day and get some good deals on  new stuff on the last day.

I went out the day it was raining and watched Scott get stuck halfway in.  Took some effort to winch him out as I recall.

I was at Jeepfest the past couple of years; will likely go to AOP that weekend.

Well just realized what weekend this is on.  I plan to be in the middle of the Gulf fishing that weekend already.
Good choice. Deep sea fishing will be a lot more fun.

My nephew has a football game otherwise I would also. I do remember the traffic was horrible last year in the AM but it cleared up a bit after lunch. I'm guessing most couldn't handle the heat.

There are a ton of parts & food vendors. They have several bounce castles & such for the kids.
It's worth checking out. The proceeds benefit 3 different children's charity's.

At trail fest he explained to me he buys them from Bartact and he pays tax on them. So he sells cash with no tax added. If you pay with plastic they have to be mailed to your house from Bartac. Some crazy BS like that.

Channel 7 had LOTS chatter.

I'll be hanging out at homebase all day tommorow. Kevin and I hit all of the obstacle. After he left I tried going up the buggy hill climb. I got 1/2 way up & it started sprinkling. So, I got off of it.
Today was a dust bowl. If it rains tonight it will be a mess.

Got a late start and arrived around 11:00 and checked out the vendors, rigs and watched the obstacles until about 2pm.

I saw Tony and Scott up there.  I was going to leave and then come back but the line of traffic on 53 was backed up for miles so just headed home around 11:30.  Took my boy Moose.  First really long ride for him but he did great.

There wasn't much to do after a couple hours at the home base.  There weren't any crazy deals going on but talked to a few vendors.  I bought a Bartact console cover and flashlight holder.  Great stuff.  Only $20 off to order the seat covers so I'll just wait.  Talked to Crawler Concepts about full side armor (rear corners, rocker, rock sliders, and fenders).  The price was about the same as Metal Cloak.  Poison Spyder doesn't have corners for a 2 door until next year - same with ACE.

Moose is a good lookin dog! We got there around 11:30 and left around 2:30. Came in the back way and traffic was light. Ordered some Bartact Front seat covers to replace my Coverkings. Was good to talk to those guys and know I'm supporting an American company and American Made Products. I also spoke with Crawler Concepts, I am interested in their tailgate spare tire arm. and a stream lined rear bumper. Saw some friends had lunch came home to watch Georgia. And now watching the Tide. Good games today.

Yes. He was on the hunt to find an axle shaft.

The diff cover was off for several hours. I'm sure it was full of bearing loving dust. It had a Dana 35 in it.
Hit some trails with Kevin on Friday. My daughter hit the obstacle course & trails on Saturday. My wife needed some Captain Morgan for inspiration. This was the first time  we have ever went back on Sunday & we had a blast. No alcohol needed for the wife.
We hit a few trails & then the obstacle course. The wife was freaking out on the homebase trails. But she had fun. Told here she was gonna have to drive on at least 2 obstacles next year. And she said sure. I asked if she was ready to go back to AOP & she said yes.

I rode by Jeep Fest today on the Harley and it was all but abandoned.  A few rigs were there which looked like someone had to come back with a trailer for them.

They had a race on Sunday. Discount Tire gave away a set of 33s & 35s. I was going for a set of 35s. Unfortunately, I placed 3rd. First place was 4 seconds faster.

Headphone warning : my wife's a screamer!

If you have never been, its worth going , lots of vendors, jeeps.  very impressive.

It really is a good time. There will probably be 2500 Jeeps registered. I personally feel that its getting to big to be hosted at such a relatively small place. I'd limit the number of registered Jeeps to XXXX amount & raise the price $25. People will pay it. Too many folks like to spend money to feel exclusive.
This may be our last year due to my above statement & the fact the funds raised on registrations alone contradicts the total amount they claim was raised. Not to mention the food, shirts & whatever else they profit from.
I understand there is some overhead but I believe ALOT of the stuff was donated/strong armed.
Just seems odd or I'm totally off in my thinking.

I used to go. I agree with the above statements. Crowds are too big and the trails just plain suck. I won't be back

Its fun to mingle. The trails are not difficult at all but 4wd is needed in some spots ESPECIALLY If wet. A 2nd with a locker would do ok.
The best wheeling is at home base. Seriously.
The best day to hit the trails is on Friday, while no one is there.

Well, I will be attending that as well. But I thought this would be a cool little set up to go to. I am trying to see how Jasper can handle that many Jeeps. From the videos it looks like everything from Rock Bouncers to "a lot" of pimped out mall crawlers (Jeepfest that is)

I don't live to far away, so I can go back and fourth no problem. I will be there Thursday night, Friday and Saturday. If anyone is going to be there on Friday let me know, we can meet up and chill with no big crowds apparently.

I just go to mull around.  Never hit the trails there because I can't imagine they are worth getting on with a bunch of people that are putting their Jeep in 4WD for the first time.  I know that everyone has to start somewhere but I don't have to be there when they do.  They did have a ride last year and had some stupid rule that you had to have 37's.  So a mall crawler with 22's and 37's could use the trail but a Rubicon with lockers and 35's couldn't.  Again, not that I would have gone on the trails.  Just goes to show the thinking of the event hosts.

It costs $-0- to go park, walk around, watch.

You only have to pay to ride so they may have 2000 jeeps and 500 pay.

Yea, I saw that stupid rule. It was like "R" rated for "Rough" or some shit. I am like, cool - so some dude with a D30 up front and 37s on 3.73 gears can go. But I can't... okay.  //no//

They had a trail like that when i last went 2 or 3 years ago. We talked them into letting our small group going on it, and it was nothing but a steep hill with loose dirt and small rocks. It required some speed, but I made it open/open

Its just a way to scare the noobs not to go on it. I went on it with my "33s". You went thru a tiny creek then immediately up a long, steep hill covered in pine needles.

Its a traffic jam on road and off. The vendors area is cool though. I got my Bartac Seat covers last year 10% off and free shipping.

Just like Atlanta traffic, don't travel during peak times.  I usually get there early.
