All depends on what the end goal is and how you plan to get there. Rubicon is worth it for the parts it includes... if you plan on 37’s and will wheel it on more than dirt roads.

If the plan is to use it for daily driver and some leaf looker trails... Rubicon isn’t needed.

If the plan is to put tons and 40’s there’s no need to buy Rubicon just to take the axles out from underneath it.

The hard part is knowing for sure how you’ll eventually use it and the timeline ($$$).

I’d say that Rubi makes sense in almost every case for someone that has plans to wheel it — and that doesn’t have immediate plans to go 40’s.

I thought Dana 44 were in all the ones I mentioned? I knew 2 dr had different from just the Rubicon. My x had 35. So the jk model axles all suck for medium trails? I had to put in HP in front and Dana 44 axle in my old 2005 Jeep x.

Not sure what the new JL's are doing but, only the Rubicon gets the D44 in the front. Everything else comes with the old D30.

I like what Jared stated, it all depends on your future plans.

Dana 30 is fine for 35" tires. The JKs have beefier axles than the older model jeeps

Rubi gets the front 44 and the better transfer case.

All JK’s got a D44 rear. Only Rubi has 44 front and 2 lockers from the factory.

Zack if you can swing it get a Rubi and make sure it’s a 2012 or newer so you get the 3.6 engine. And the D44 front axle and Lockers. Otherwise you’ll just be doing it later.

I think a big question is deciding how much you want to spend up front vs later. Are you buying new or used?

Used, rubicon I’m looking for and second is a x because I know the under protection is there. Just keeping my eye out for price now.

I'm pretty sure the x, Sahara, sport, and Rubicon all have the same skid plates on the bottom. Rubicons will have the rock rails, but they should be the same other than that.

Except for the Rubicon's front axle, lockers, and rock rails, the only difference is the level of interior trim

Correct.

Except Rubi also get you electronic sway bar, 4:1 tcase, 4:10 gears.

Sporticon route:
4:1 case - traded a shop that does LS swaps ($500 plus my case)

Sway bar: antirock (couple hundred)

Axles: major variation, stock to tons.

Really cool Rubi sticker - priceless

Should all come with gas tank skid and transfer case skid, just need to add an oil case/trans skid if it doesn't have one. If you find one with out sliders, you can have my old sliders, they need a new home.

Looks like it’s a white 2014 unlimited rubicon this Saturday . I can’t get away from white color jeeps lol. Think the first three mods are front bumper, winch and lift. I’ll have a hard top for the first time. I know I’ll grab soft top sooner then later.

Dido, I got to wait fourteen days for my Jeep to come now. It’s a 2012 red unlimited rubicon. Found it 8,000 cheaper with little bit more miles but nothing Me and two master tech friends can’t fix with new engine parts or just buy a warranty for motor and power train.
