If you’re involved in a legal shooting, they will provide a lawyer and pay all legal costs. Having a lawyer that knows gun laws will give you a better chance from an over-aggressive prosecutor. It’s about $150 a year IIRC. Go on their site and read some of the stories of people they’ve defended. Lots of videos or real people they’ve helped.

It's sad a cop can unjustly shoot and kill a "suspect" & only suffer a 2 week paid vacation. Yet a law abiding citizen can justly shoot & kill a legitimate threat to themself or loved ones & it could potentially ruin their life financially or get rewarded with a prison sentence.
Only in 'Merica.
