I will be trailering as usual, looks like I may have to leave my truck and trailer back at Wal-Mart, so I will more than likely go to the trailhead and unload my Junk, and head back down. So maybe someone would be kind enough to give me a ride back to my Heep. :hlp

You can slum in the Hummer from Wally world.

Is there anywhere to camp around there?  Anyone want to camp Saturday night?  Drink some beer, or a lot of beer?

Larry or someone will chime in on that, you know me if I'm staying in the area it will be at a Hotel, especially if Donna is with me.

I'm planning on making this one for sure,I've never been there so this will be good.I am under the impression that there is no rig and trailer parking so where do we park them? And do we have permission to park there?

This place is huge and has something for everyone.

 We camped last time I went and we found one of the best campsites I have ever seen, you can see for miles from the campsite, If I go I will be camping.

I have to talk with the wife first. We've spent a lot on the house the past week & going on vacation next week. Sounds like it wouldn't cost too much.
If we go, we'll be camping

Do you have insurance and a tag? If so no problem, park at Wal-Mart and drive in. In my case, mine is a trailer queen, I've talked with Larry and he has told me that there is still some parking at the trail head but not much, and you have to be there early. I'm looking at going and dumping the Heep and going back and parking at Wal-Mart, then catching a ride back. Sounds like a pain, but all in the fun, right?

Just curious.  What does having tag/insurance have to do with being able to park or not park a tow rig/trailer at Wal-Mart?

It's illegal to drive a vehicle on the street without insurance and a tag, if you unload a trailer queen at Wally World then you have to drive on the street to get to the trails.

My cousin just HAS to get married that weekend in Washington DC.   :fu(  Found out just now.

My parents want to spend the latter half of the week at the Smithsonian and other places again.

It's still up in the air, but I'll know for sure later on.

I'm debating on this pretty heavily.  Worst case scenario, I might have to stop and pull my driveshaft and my CV axles out and get tugged back out of the place...but I love me some Aetna and would like to go again.

I think my CV axles are going out, they're popping and all that good crap pretty bad lately.  And being broke has kept me from buying a replacement.  My driveshaft constantly spins, whether I'm in 4WD or not, so if one breaks, I'll just have to pull it and the driveshaft to keep it from spinning the other one... I guess.  Stupid IFS...

Why would he do that? he would still have to upgrade axles and it would be a down grade in vehicle quality... {nln}

Well I'll definitely be out due to work.  I was actually hoping to make this one, too.  I like me some Aetna.
We know you aint coming because Ben is out. Just fess it up big boy! ;D

No, the main reason I was coming was because Ben wasn't going to be there.  And see, since he's not going and neither am I, I'm leaving the state entirely.  Just to limit the chances of bumping into him on the roads.

Besides, I would kinda enjoy watching you try and run over "dead" trees again.  It's been a while.

You need to get out more, I almost always hit a tree, usually it's backing up, you just happened to show up on one of my better days.  ;D  But by the way a eased around RR for 5 or 6 hours Saturday without hitting any trees, I guess that means Fall Crawl might be ugly  :(

Well sorry I've only been on... 2 rides with you I think.  And I've only seen you hit one tree.

But congrats on the cruisin' around without any hitches.

I plan on going!

Aetna is fun, as was mentioned, I took my stock TJ (worn out 30" GS-A's) thru there. The hardest part was the first section, going from the path up to the actual mountain, the big holes and stuff, without some basic flex ans grippy tires can be tough, but other then that, there should be no problem. This place is one of my favorites.

My TJ is still stock to many, 1"BL/MML, discoed and 31" M/T, yet it totally transformed it off-road, made it rather capable, actually I found this setup to be fun, atleast for me.... keeps things a challenge but lets me keep up. Next mod is a tummy tuck, which includes oil pan skid - i don't know how many more bashes that thing can take.

Will someone take some pictures for our GATR Myspace?  Or someone just volunteer up their pictures.  Gotta keep it updated.

Thanks guys.

I am signed in for the ride. Guess I will lead folks around. I will parking on the lease side. Can somebody get the group up to the power lines or do I need to come down and get everybody.

I've only been there once before and that was a couple of years ago.  I don't know if I could find my way over there or not.  Hopefully someone else can step up here.

I've never been there, so I'm like you Seth, can somebody that has been there a few times step up and get us to the powerlines?
Seth, you still gonna run a shuttle for me to the tow pig? Looks like Richard may need a ride also.

Yeah where do I need to pick you up?  I am going to have my neighbor riding with me and we might camp.  I don't know how full of gear my rig will be but anyone that needs a  ride is welcome if I have the room.  What time are we going to try to get on the trail?  I was thinking around 9:30-10 would probably be reasonable.

Ok guys, here is the deal. From what I have read and found out from what I consider a reliable source, with the weather we have coming in starting tonight and go through Thursday, Aetna will be messy and very slick to say the least. I would like for us to run Aetna in more favorable conditions, maybe do more riding than winching and pulling rigs out of the mud and off trees. I have decided to postpone this ride for a later date. We have not had great luck this year with Mother Nature, look at how many times it took to get to Beasley. Would anyone be interested in doing a meet and eat Saturday. Maybe a Hooters, eat some wings and check out some local talent.  {toast} {letseat}

Just found this late....

I have been up a few times and know my way around *a little bit* better yet, last time I was up, I marked some way points off on my GPS including (IIRC) peanut butter hole.

But, I see it was postponed. Alright, they wanted us to work this weekend anyway (I was going to call in for the trip tho) so it works out... for now.

Well, looking forward to making it up again sometime.
