Title: Moving to Denver... but not with Seth
Post by: jc79 on September 28, 2014, 10:09:44 PM
I could basically just link to Seth's thread, because oddly enough our situations are almost identical.  I've taken a new role with my company that allows us to move to Colorado!   //letseat//

My wife and I have always talked about living out there.  And last Saturday the opportunity started to become real.  Within a week it was official.  We figured that if we were ever going to do it, this was the time.  We also figured that if we didn't, we'd be kicking ourselves down the road.  Life it short, carpe diem, etc, etc, etc.

We'll also be renting initially, and are looking in the Parker area.  Our timeline is very quick, and we will be out there by December 5th.

As for the Jeep.  I had been toying around with the idea of selling and doing something different.  I'd decided on an LJ build before the LJ threads started popping up (well, not before Larry's).  Since the Jeep is basically paid off, we are going to sell it and bring in some cash.  Unlike Seth, we are on the hook for the move.  I'm going to bring the JK back to stock and sell it that way.  Work on that has just started and will add up given the sheetmetal damage I've incurred.   //no//

If all goes well, I'll start a new build in time for next season.

We're really excited... our families a little less so. A little bittersweet for us for lots of reasons... one of which is the great friendships in the GATR group.

Looking forward to GATRfest!   //cheers2//

Congratulations on the relo!

Damn, selling the Jeep...I sure didn't see that coming!  Good luck with the conversion, but at least they will not be able to complain about mileage being too high.

I'm going to be a passenger at GATR fest actually!  My friend Don just bought a JKU (white) with an exceptional parts list and this will be his first ride.  I'll be shotgun with him...

Great memory, Kevin!  It has been a great 3+ years.  And yes, we've seen and been through some stuff on the trails together.  That and the campfire time afterwards is what I'm going to miss!

Sucks to hear your moving Jared. But get it while the getting is good. You need to make sure you make some time for us and plan a trip back, at least Harlan. Hope everything goes well for you and the family on the move. Also if it would help with the ease of the move we could just trade jeeps, at least you could stay in the WJM then.  //LMAO// //cheers2// //SLAMIN// //popcorn//

What would help with the ease of the move is a stack of cash to "trade" for the Jeep!  :-)

I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving Jared, but excited for you! This seems like a great opportunity and you're jumping on it. Just don't forget us lowly east coast wheelers when you get out there with the big boys! Best of luck to you and your family. And remember, you always have (GATR) family here; don't hesitate to holler if you need anything.

I finally sell the never finished Bronco and buy a new JK to take out and you leave... man... anyway, Hate to see you go brotha but happy for you and the fam.  Better get that LJ ready and scout the trails for us to visit!

Haha, you should have ditched the Bronco a little sooner. Looking forward to grabbing a seat at GATR fest. Yours is going to be built better than mine, and with no dents or dings!

//cheers2// you better be ready for Moab in 15' - or we could do a Colorado ride. I took my wife to Grand Junction for the night when my rig died in Moab last year and it was beautiful!

I was telling Don that they try to get 2-3 families on that truck. With the holiday this week we may have it to ourselves.

Post up some pics when you get the stuff on.  I'm afraid of what your rig will be doing on bigger tires and some serious armor!

Did I read that right that you left yesterday for CO?  Drive safe!  We left on a Friday two weeks ago.  We didn't get out of Atlanta until 1:30.  This was during the time Kansas City was expecting a lot of snow so we decided to go through Memphis/Little Rock/Tulsa/Wichita.  We made it to Little Rock the first night, Colby Kansas the second night, then into Parker Sunday around Lunch time.  I should get a F'n medal for getting down I-70 through Kansas safely in my Jeep.  The wind was ridiculous!  I was getting 15mpg all the way to Wichita, then MGP dropped to 11 through Kansas!  Had to keep my steering wheel turned to 2:00 to keep my jeep on the road.   We are loving it here so far.  I'll only be in CO for about 10 days total in December.  Let's shoot for meeting up after the new year.
