Title: 88 comanche in Griffin runs and drives (on a trailer) $600
Post by: Huntingman2706217 on October 10, 2011, 11:26:57 AM
I bought this MJ Sat... then got a txt excepting another offer on another MJ that was already what i wanted... so now im selling this one... supposedly another guy that was gonna buy it has my number and wants it still but i havent heard anything yet and im a first come first serve kinda guy...

I paid $600 for it sat and i wont take a dime less... ive now owned 4 comanches and 9 cherokee in the last two years...  im also a moderator on cherokeeforum.com mainly over the for sale section... i wouldnt have paid this if i didnt think it was well worth it...

Its a inline 6 2x4 automatic... dana 35 with 3.55's... bench seat... plastic bedliner... solid back window...

The interior is pretty clean and nice for its age... the seats not in bad shape although a couple seams are starting to pull apart... the paint is really good... its a macco OEM color job and body work so its not high quality but its rust free and its definitely something to start with... im pretty sure the glass is good but ill have to double check...

the bad is the motors knocking like crazy... to the point i wouldnt drive it but up on a trailer (i did and it was fine)... theres no milkyness under the oil cap but there is crud... like from lack of changing the oil... it may just need the top end but no telling until the head is pulled off... he said it overheated and started the knocking... i havent pulled the valve cover yet... I was going to put a brand new autozone motor in it myself... the trucks in good enough shape to do that with to me anyways... its also got new tires and wheels are painted black from a ZJ but to me the wheels look like crap... pics will have stock wheels on it but im swapping them with this other MJ i just got yesterday because i want to keep it restored and stock...

also not every dent was fixed when painted... has a couple waves and dents and the back pass corner of the bed has a pretty good dent (post paint job)... old mirrors were taken off with screws left in the holes when painted... then ole chevy mirrors or something were screwed on... anyways the pics will show for themselves... Also i swapped the tailgate with my other comanche... it still works fine but itll be white and slightly pushed out like they all seem to do...

it works... i never said it was worth $2k though... lol... but id sell it for that! trailer prices dropped like crazy since they are the first thing people try and sale when they loose work... you can find a working car trailer all day long on CL for under $700... i remember when they were all up around double that... ive got around a K in mine but ive completely rebuilt it so its like new...

I agree 100% that's what my comment was about, mine aint for sale either, but I would consider it for 2K.  {toast}

someone wants a comanche project! everyone that ownes a jeep wants a comanche project! lol...

I didnt get to trouble shoot the engine issue much but i ran it with the cover off and everything moved like it should... rods spun around in circles freely while it ran so they couldnt be bent that bad if any... everythings tight... but then it quite running and wouldnt start... tested the CPS and its bad... gonna try and swap it out this week so i can do some more work on the motor... oil looks good... everything looks good so i dunno... has a little rattle but its not that bad and may be fine but like i said still workin it... ill update as i can!

So the price goes up if its not blown even though you are still selling the same Jeep as before with no repairs.  {ehm} {no}

What? $600 was what i paid for it being told the motor was blown... And i was gonn   stick a new one in it... I got a deal on another one the next day... So i was selling thiz one for the same $600... Then i went to confirm the blown motor and havsnt been able to do so yet... so if it doesnt need a motor and only needed a cps ghen its worth more then $600... And ill be adjusting the price for a running and driving comanche instead of trailered comanche... Make better sense?

kept it running long enough to warm up... thermostat opened and the motor started steaming from every possible hole... not firing on 2 and 4 but has spark, fuel, and air so believe the pistons are fried...

$600 firm price ready for a new motor!
