Choccolocco Mountain is located in Jacksonville, Alabama just one mile from the town square. Restaurants, parts stores, and hotels are only minutes away. Every type of off road vehicle is welcome, including: ATV’s, side by sides, dirt bikes, four wheel drives, rail buggies, and rock crawlers. The park is 450 acres of forest covered mountains with a vast trail system. Most stock four-wheel drive vehicles are capable of traveling throughout the entire park on the easy roads. There are also moderate to extreme trails for the more advanced vehicles. Some of the most extreme off road obstacles in the southeast are located here in Jacksonville, AL.

RIDE PLANS :

FRIDAY:  park opens at 8am...members will arrive throughout the day to set up camp and wheel.  There will be no structured Friday rides.  Get together with those that are there and work out wheeling plans.  Camp fires and what not Friday night at sundown.  GaTR ride rules apply to all that come Friday and wheel as a GaTR club member. 

SATURDAY:  9:30am(Alabama time) riders meeting.  We will break into groups of like wheeling capabilities and head out to hit the rocks.  The park is not too big so lunch can be back at the camp sites at 1pm.  After lunch we can re-group, stay in the same groups, make bigger groups, smaller groups, whatever may seem to make the wheeling better.  Wheel for the rest of the day.  Camp fires and more what not at sun down.  Maybe a little night wheeling if a group feels up to it.

Really looking forward to this ride, it feels like forever since I've been here. And every time I go it seems to get better.
This may be the only time I can say rock bouncers have actually improved trails. They've kicked out all of the loose rocks lol

go up the hill
to the left is parking and zip line

And be prepared, you will think you may be lost as you come into the park through a neighborhood.  I know the first time I went to Chocco I was sure my GPS had gone haywire, but sure enough you will find the entrance if you follow the GPS.

Don't speed when you come into the town of Jacksonville. It's a small college town and real low speed limit areas

I missed the entrance last time... you'll be looking for an address that doesn't exist. Instead of a driveway/mailbox with the number on it, it's a short road that goes by another name which looks like it dead-ends, but the park entrance is just beyond the end of the road.

You can use the address on the website.  It takes you to the house on the corner of the road you turn on to get to the park.

Unless you have a duramax. If so just drive as you normally would and all will be ok. JK I put mine in 4hi when we went in june.

Yes in my old Powerstroke found out my 4 wheel
drive didn't work on that hill.....started sliding
backwards. Truck, trailer and Jeep had to be pulled
up.

I am hopeful that my new ORI strut will be in just in time for me to install it so I can go on this trip.  I should have the front end fixed later this week and I'll figure out the caliper bolts sometime this weekend...that just leaves the strut as my final problem area...I hope!  I'll only do a day trip, and since i am getting in from a trip to Asheville on Friday evening, I might be late so I'll catch y'all on channel 7, if that happens.

I was standing in front of the tree as we had just attached the winch line to the tree saver and it seemed like things went into slow motion as that tree started coming down.  Remember it like it was yesterday.  So thankful that noone was hurt on that one.  Crazy day for sure...

I've never seen luck like Chris had. What are the odds of his tire getting stuck between two branches. That was a good 100+ foot roll if it didn't get hung up

We break up into smaller groups depending on who shows up usually something like Hard Core, Intermediate, and Easy then we ride and meet back for lunch and then do it again after lunch.

@marc72  there is usually a small group that camps and sits around the fire at night with drinks, telling tall tales and such. The warmer weather usually results in a smaller number of campers or no campers (day trip and/or hotel instead).

I am a regular camper but I am on house arrest still so I can't comment on the next few rides.

We will be camping Friday night.  We will head to allsouth around 8-9am and head out from there.  Hopefully it's just paying and hooking up the trailer.  We should be pulling in around 2 depending on traffic.
