I'm planning to do both.

I'd like to plan a work trip around something like this for an easy way to get out. Wonder if I can find some accounts looking to hire people out there.

That is always my plan.  Work some, and then play some.

Don't forget 3 seasons of clothes and the sun screen.

I always avoid this because of the crowded trails (meeting a 16 year old coming over the top of a hill WFO - can't just pee anywhere - so on...) but, if I actually knew someone running in the event I would go across the street and watch.  I could gather my Johnson Valley crew and form a cheering section for GATR racers.  If we have members running the Hammer how can I ID you.........rig description.......number?  I guess the other thing is do you want a bunch of desert rat drunks calling attention to you?

Jeff from Allsouth hopes to be running again last I heard...
Jeremy at RockKrawler is running
Larry at Poison Spyder is still planning to run.

I visit twice a year.  Usually a little later in the spring but Feb is doable even though cold and windy (too cold for frozen Margareta's - not Ga windy but desert windy....you need to stand at an angle to keep your balance).  I have not discussed a date with my California buds but will float the idea of coming out the KOH week.  Anyone want to join us?  I know of some great trails to run.  3 days and 2 nights to get there.

Is there a SRRS vs KOH on back door again? I'll be watching on the computer when not at work.

Tony, if you have some spare time when you're out for the KOH, we will always have a spare seat in a jeep, sand rail or on a dirt bike.  Bring your piece....last time out we saw plenty of large cat tracks out by the "spooky house" where the petroglyphs are.  Never heard of the "back door".  Is it off one of the three "hammer" trails?

There are a lot of extra seats available on night rides too.   It is cool to look out at night and see the head lights up on the rocks in the runs.

I should be there with a buddy/associate that used to run the baja but had a nasty wreck he won't talk about.  Don't think he remembers anything.

He has a dually and a fifth wheel that I hope to set up Sunday.  I'll probably work Monday and/or Tuesday.

For first timers, you can call the rv companies and they will have your camper set up on the lake bed when you arrive.  They come by and service the lp and generators too.  It can be really cold at night.  Guys go around seeking firewood too.
