Title: Cherry Dual Purpose 1999 XJ Sport
Post by: Metro on August 08, 2011, 04:16:24 PM
I hate to sell this because I just got it where I wanted it but I just purchased a JKU Rubi and don't have room for three cars at my house.  All parts listed below were new installed between last October and now.

99 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport with ONLY 46K Miles.  99s were known as the best year for XJs because they had the High Pinion Dana 30 with larger U joints and the 29 Spline 8.25 axle in the rear 4.0L, and AW4 transmission.  This XJ has Cloth seats, full gauges, tow package, power windows, power locks, and power mirrors, Ice cold Ac.  I daily drove this jeep for the last 10 months while doing the buildup.  It is very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to Moab tomorrow if I could.  It's a great family car as it has lots of room for taking your gear with you on camping trips or vacations and it rides great with the long arms.  It's also shockingly capable on the trail.  I've taken it to Harlan, Beasley, Gulches, and Durhamtown and I'm yet to find the limits of what it can do.  Even though it's been used, I never abused it and took great care not to do any body damage on the trails.  It does have a very small dent in the passenger side back door, and then a small dent in the front driver's side door.  Other than that and a few scratches that you would expect from a 12 year old car, the body is nearly perfect.   I get compliments everywhere I go with this jeep and you will too.  I have over $12K invested in this jeep and I know I am going to kick myself for selling it but I just don't have parking space for it.  Located in Atlanta, title in hand, $8900 OBO.

Good luck with the sale Seth, I know what a bummer it is to sell a rig you worked so hard on.

You know what the new Ruby needs...a rear currie antirock!!

I can personally vouch for this rig. It is very well maintained and did superbly offroad at Harlan. Good luck and hate to see it go. {toast}

Well, I think I am going to pull a Seth and sell the XJ.  I am really wanting a 2012 Rubi, so probably going to sell the XJ and trade my 2010 in on a 2012.

If anybody was interested before, here is your second chance to buy one of the nicest (if not nicest) XJs on the planet.  Seth did a great job on this build.  It is extremely capable but still rides great on the road. {toast}

Let me know how that trade in offer makes you feel. I told the dude to shove the offer up his bass.

I got a pretty fair trade in offer from Palmer Dodge.  Don't get me wrong I am losing more than I want but I also went in with reasonable expectations.  Did have to do some haggling though. ;D

Well, I did it.  Traded in my 10 JKU on a 12 JKU.  Now I need to sell this sweet XJ to fund my mods on the new JK!  Wanted to offer it here first since you all know the Jeep.

Will take $8500 for everything.  And I just put a new starter on it!

Only 1400 miles so far and still stock but I LOVE it.  I really wanted an automatic after driving several.  If I had an auto in my 2010, not sure I would have pulled the trigger but glad that I did.  Drove down to Ocala this past weekend and set cruise control on.  Jeep never had any problem pulling any hills and never really geared down.

Had an offer of $7500 cash from another forum member here but just can't lose that kind of money!  $500 is hard enough to swallow for putting a little over 1K miles on this thing and paying over $100 for a new starter!

Alright, here it goes...If someone can buy this XJ tomorrow or Friday, I will take $7500!  That is $1K less than I paid Seth!

I am scheduling some work for the new JK and could use this cash.
Several people have said $7500, so let's see if anybody will really buy it.

If you would have taken 7500 when I offered it 3 weeks ago it would have been long gone! I have bought 2 more vehicles since then. Sucks...I would have loved to own it.

As of now, the XJ is NO longer for sale.  Think I will just keep it for that kind of money.
