Also, I spoke to Tom and he is very excited to be our guide again this year. We had an absolute blast last time we were there!Awesome!
Never been to The Cove, just didn't seem like my thing. Might have to check it out this time.Last time it reminded a lot of AOP

The Cove for sale. This may be the last chance you get to ride this place with GATR.Which part? The cove has 1000s of acres owned by different people and companies. I know that about 600+ acres are for sale now.
Can someone explain this place a little? Ive always been under the impression that its one trail and if you cant make it past an obstacle then you have to turn around and youre done. Is that true or are there bypasses? Could a rig like mine make it through? skids, front locker, 35s, 2.5 lift, winch

I had heard some landowners were not happy with all the jeeps, running the Cove. Are these trails still legal?
Yes the trails we are taking are all legal. Our trail guides family has lived there since the beginning of time.
As for the trails, they are mostly mild with a lot of water crossings. There are really no big obstacles other than one short side trail and the cave opening. We will be trail riding and sight seeing all day. There are several caves that you can park and walk into. Very scenic for sure.
The last picture attached is the big caves entrance!!
I just realized that it's been 6 years since I went to the cove._----------
just saw that the #4x4king has checked in....going to do everything in my power to make this ride now.
Is this someone's property? How big is it?Yes, very.
Hello, new to the board(kinda). Been registered but didn't have a rig at that time but do now. Was wondering is there a dead line to check in for the cove event? Or can I just show up and tag along? I'm driving a tripled locked fj80 on 35"s. Looking forward to getting to know some fellow wheelers and exploring GA and TNWelcome, sure join whenever you can but let someone know so they are expecting you.

Center differential lockup (aka tcase) for the full time four wheel drive.
Cool thx. 3x locked is just factory center diff and front and rear diff electric lockers. It's a toyota thing..lol.
I have a few more things to do to b trail ready. Here's a poser pic.
I'll definitely check in the closer it gets if I can make it. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170425/225fe808357a064d54292b47877ddaa7.jpg)

29" tires and low, I might sit this one out. I know when I went with AJ the water crossings where up to the bottom of my doors on the TJ and I am on 35s.Dang. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't want to scare anybody off here. But that being said, there are 2 river crossings and depending on the amount of rain it can get really deep. I will post a video of my last trip. It was dry but you can see the depth of one of the crossings. There are some pretty good rocks to play on but open, open might be a little tricky. Last time in there was a section that could give open open guys a little trouble.

Like Ben said it depends on the rain fall right prior too the ride. I just saw a video where someone went last weekend and the creek crossings were very low. Now I'd imagine there flowing pretty good.
so im bringing my son, we want to come up late friday when he gets off work, any suggestion on hotel thats close to where we all meet up? where do we all meet up? what time?

Address is in first post and time to meet. It's a house. Local hotels are everywhere. I am staying in Jasper Fri night. Only 8 minutes from the spot. You can camp out at shellmound campground just off TN river as well.
Who is camping Saturday night?Did someone say beer?
I had a couple of thoughts (I know, dangerous). Would anyone be up for heading the Chattanooga (40 min) after the trails and hitting a couple of breweries and/or brew pubs? Then find a reasonable hotel nearby.

Got my room booked. love my wife. she is set me up at Hampton Inn Kimball , we are about 17-20 min from the meet place. Looking forward to this trip, should be nice.

Could we go in a 2017 4runner stock I have a lift on the way but won't be here in timeI think you will bang it around a bit and swamp it on the river crossing unless the water is very low.

This ride has alot of different things to consider. There are deep river crossings, large boulder fields, muddy sections and low hanging limbs and tight trails were scratching can occur. With all the rain we have had I bet it will be fairly deep crossings and muddy trails. If you are not locked you might want to pass as it might mean you have to get pulled around alot by a strap and that makes for a long day for everyone.

I was able to find this for the Seqatchie River which runs parallel to the Cove's waterway, Owen Spring Branch.
https://waterdata.usgs.gov/tn/nwis/uv/?site_no=03571000&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060
It'll give some indication I think of the level.

How will we know how deep the creeks are prior to next Saturday?

No they don't. But stockers do and this is an open ride so just trying to give everyone a heads up so they don't get in over their capability and the others don't have to waste a day winching or dragging someone around. I would rather put more info out there than not enough. I am sure some of you recall our open beasley knob rides and how much fun those were... NOT ;)
Well, im going to follow Ben, he is still got more belly clearance than me, but its close so if he dont sink, i should be ok.. maybe.. kind of... sort of... hmmm, going to pack some floats just in case. ;)

Kent we'll be fine ha ha. Just bring your arm floaties and you should be good.

Not an ideal place for a long bed full size truck that's for sure. Some spots are really tight and require good turning radious. Not sure your truck would work well here. Plus some of the drops and boulders might give that truck problems. Alot of big boulders and such.

We need to arrange a fall trip. Lol.Back to the cove? If so I like this idea.
Looking like I won't make it.....
Got issues from Coyote Canyon and Carnage Canyon
After I killed Coyote Canyon my transfer case is stuck
in 4lo and then broke the yoke on the rear drive shaft
at the beginning of Carnage Canyon.

There is a button for the later.
I'm still going. I can't get out of my hotel room and it's not 100% chance of rain so either way, I am down.
im unsure as to if my jeep is capable enough for the cove. As some of you may know, I have hydrolocked once and have been nerved by water ever since. Also wondering about capability on the trails. Can anyone shed some light for me?
I was wanting to leave most of the softtop at home, but i guess im bringing it, .. still all good. a trail is a trail. :)

If it rains it will be muddy in some spots but majority of trails are rock but that could get interesting in rain. If locked I would say you will be fine. I read your profile and locked in front on 35's you should be ok.

Thanks for the help. Should I be worried about water levels?
Still hoping to make it, but delays at Allsouth have me scheduled to be ready on Friday, so... who knows? Still hopeful, but a lot less sure than before. Will only check-in once I get my Jeep back.
Weather looking much better now. Will be a beautiful day on the river.
