So I am as much a weather nerd as I am a history nerd. I have been watching Gustav closely as a tropical storm develop, looks like it could be a good one but its headed into the gulf, not good. As long as it doesn't hit the Gulfport, MS area I will be happy. My family lives about 90 miles off the coast and Katrina jacked them up good last time. I headed down there right after the storm, hope I don’t have to do that again…

Yeah, looks like it could be a big one! If it starts that far away from land it will probably be a big one for sure! I know it is pooring again at my house and my sunroom is flooding again! Man! >:(
-
Yeah - Gustav could be a nasty one... already projected to be a Category 3 when it makes it into the warm Gulf waters...

My lawn will not complain if we get anything from that one. I'm gonna need to sod a few spots after this year. >:( >:(

I'm supposed to go to Florida this weekend.....
-
My parents are too. Not gonna happen! :-[

I'm going to PC Saturday.

Looks like predictions are showing it headed towards the New Orleans/Gulf Port area and to be off the coast Monday morning... GREAT. I have already planned to be at my grandparents this weekend and coming home Monday. Now I am torn on what to do because IF it does hit that area and hits home pretty good I will be turning around and making the 400 mile trip back to Mississippi...

good thing I got a 4 door. My uncle called and would like for me to bring the 2 generators down with me to leave with them. They want to be a little more prepared this time incase things get bad. He said all the generators with in 3 hours of them are sold out.

You need to check the weather channel. There is another one coming! Headed for the east coast!

Well there was a tornado that hit Clemson campus 2 days ago. It hasn't stopped raining in 3 days now. My jeep is never going to dry at this rate. I am tired of getting soaked driving it.

so looks like my family missed a good one. Spent the weekend getting things ready for the storm, moving the loose items from the yards, getting gas, food, water, checking fences and trees near the fences and when I left this morning around 11:30 they had steady 25 mph winds and rain but nothing worse.
On a side note, did get to wheel 500 acres of land but no rocks or hills, just mud and tractor rutted trails. No pictures though except one on my phone of the storm moving in. Ill get it up soon
-
Yeah, my parents were vacationing at port saint joe which is east of destin and they were told to evacuate. Storm surge was movin in.

Kinda late but here a picture from my phone as the outer bands moved in the night before land fall. Taken from my grandparent's front yard....
