I have to change my front pinion seal, straighten my steering wheel, and adjust my parking brake. Nothing fun. :-\
What are you trying to get wrapped up before friday?

Well, I need to reinstall my gas tank and try to get the rear bumper back on and new brackets welded as well. :P
-
Buy me a tank of argon mix and I will burn those on for you... ;)
-
Yeah, I bet it's cheaper to have my buddy do it then pay for the gas! But thanks!
-
oh there is a list of stuff... get my new rear bumper and put it on, cb, parking brake only works when its all the way up and only works just a bit... just about everything on the list of needed items...
Mike
-
My brake is the same way, 5 speed helps though. ;)
-
but i have a 6 speed
-
Then it can roll down the hill faster when it pops out of gear.
-
true but it would have to pop out and run over a cherokee ... guess both could happen
Mike
oh wait nevermind

There is an adjuster for your cable. Climb under the Jeep an tighten it up.
-
uh with the JK there is something funny with the parking break.... Maybe Mike knows. It is suppose to be self adjusting when you pull it up.

My freakin rear window is pissin me off >:( The actual zipper do-hickey does not match the teeth up right. I tried forever to get it to start correctly, but the teeth just won't seat. So I ended up getting really annoyed and just yanked the dang thing all the way around. The teeth are all over the place :D Now I can get it halfway down and then it stops dead. Not too big a deal, but I'm gonna break the thing if I pull on it any harder. It just makes me a little frustrated that I took a transfer case apart yesterday, put it back together, and now I can't figure out how to zip a window into a soft top... ::)
-
It's alright simple things can be the hardest! Ok, maybe not :D
-
when i had my TJ i used soap when it wouldnt work right.. dawn works the best..
-
I took apart my winch and cleaned and re greased the planetary gears. It runs alot quieter now. Other than that, i havent had anything to do just sick of waiting.

Get yourself a can of aerosol silicone spray. You will grin when the zipper works like a knife in butter. I use it on all my rubber seals and weather stripping weekly.
-
Alex you can come by my house and fix my stuff.. install my cb, fix my handbrake, and find out where and why my right rear is making noise...sounds like squeaking off and on... grrr... going to call dealership and ge it fixed...unless Alex comes over... {toast} {toast}
Mike

If you were closer i would love to haha. I could work on jeeps all day long.

Might be the brake pad wear indicator. The rears wear out first on the jk's, because they are tiny compared to the fronts.

Thanks bud, I'll see if I can pick some of this up in the next couple of days. Any brand you recommend or is it all the same stuff?
-
It's all personal preference. I use Liquid Wrench Silicon Spray, but any Silicone spray will do. You'd be amazed at what it will do to soften and restore door weather stripping and moulding.

Heard a stick of butter will work too. Just watch out for stray cats following you around. ;D

Prerequisite: 6 beers

Not sure you want to offer that one. Who knows what might come of that one! :D

You have been holding out on us, Larry!

I'll go ahead and tell you it's slow. ;)
-
I'll go ahead and tell you it's slow. ;)
Yeah, but it works! :) I actually think they're putting new motors in them, but I don't know if those have started shipping yet.
-
Oh yeah works great and affordable. ;D

{toast} As long as it works everytime I can deal with slow. My 12k milemarker is going on the car trailer after RR.
As for the new motor.......
-
yep they are using new motors. Talked to the guy at Truck Fest and thats the reason for the price increase. They got sooooo many complaints about the speed that they quit using their supplier and switched to a new one that is much faster. So I guess it depends when you bought it if you got the new motor or not.
-
mine's slow, but thats the only complaint. Well the remote doesn't like staying connected to the solenoid, but I can rig something up for that.
-
Looks good. I think the motor on my warn is on its last leg ::). I pulled the winch completely apart and cleaned/inspected/re greased it. The motor was full of dirt and rust. I can get a new motor for about 75.
-
Slow is fine by me. As long as it works! Larry, why don't you give that thing a bath once and awhile? :D
-
i saw one somewhere i think bulldog website for like 300 with a free mount.. tried to talk to wife in letting me get that and she said no bills come first.
Mike

Up till about a month ago there was a Level 4 water ban in the county I live in. $250 fine for the first time they catch you using water outside. Second time they turn your water off. Since then I have had enough time to either fix it and wheel it or wash it and let it sit in the drive way. Which one would you choose? ;)
-
ok got the rear bumper on and now trying to find a place to mount the cb antenna and i am lost on this.. any help would be great.. call me at 931-801-7685...will be posting before and after pics of the bumper soon...

what kind of mount do you have? Mounted mine to the spare tire carrier bolt (one that bolts carrier to the gate) with a bracket I drilled out. Works perfect.
-
have the mount that came with the firestick.. i guess its a 2 way mount.. from looking at it.. forgot about the tire carrier. going to go look and see if that will work
-
not the best picture but this is mine. L bracket, drilled out a hole for the bolt. The mount is made to go on the mirror arm of a big rim but I took off the front plate and was left with just the L bracket.

I ran mine along the same route as the rear brake light wires.
-Open the gate, pop off the long black strip on the inside the tailgate (pop bottom out first).
-Then pop out the other black panel on bottom right inside of gate. Be careful with this one, the tabs can break easy to just go easy.
-Then pull out the rubber grommet on the outside where the wires go through.
-No run the CB wire on the same path as the brake wire through the tailgate (requires putting your hand in the area of the second black piece you had to pop off)
-Pull the CB wire through the outside of the gate
-Place the rubber grommet back, note where the CB wire is, take the grommet back and snip the corner of it so it will fit around the CB wire.
-Go back to inside of tailgate, zip tie CB wire to brake wire and replace panels.
Sorry, no pictures of all that man.
-
This would have been a great write up with some pics.

One weekend I might need to do it. Several folks ask me how I did it. Mounting the CB is all personal choice but everyone has to get the wire outside to the antenna.
-
hey thanks.. got it in but just not sure where to mount the cb it's self at
Mike

How big? I got a midland and mounted it above the rear view:
Requires taking the header apart (not hard at all). There is a write up almost exactly like i did mine on another website but I refuse to even give them the traffic to link it. Anyways, if you think you want to mount there I can walk you through it after work on the phone today. I will be home probably around 4:45 p.m.
-
right now i am just going to velco it in place till RR then go from there... got lights but nothing else.. no back ground noise nothing.. nothing reading on the swr either what did i do wrong?

Do you have the antenna hooked up? If so turn your squelch down and see.
-
turned it down turned it up nothing no back ground noise nothing coming out... i think i need more power.. the cb may need 12v and i think will check in the am but i think its only getting 9.5v enough to turn on the leds but nothing more..
Mike
-
Check the ground, I had this problem before and ran a good ground to it and that fixed it all.
-
here is a winch that i am trying to get the wife ...

where did you wire the power to? The battery?
-
i used an old cell car charger and spliced it in to that and plugged it into the cig lighter.. we are heading down in a few mins... be there around 5 maybe..
Mike
-
We'll figure it out down there. C you tonight!
-
Put my top and doors on for the drive down...my jeep smells like a**. It must have gotten rained on to much nln
-
I think it is an inherit thing with Jeeps. Mine is the same when it gets "closed" up.
