Well, unfortunately, I am home already. My day was cut short by a broken brake line. Yes, I could've gone searching around in town for a replacement and made it back out, but I figured I would just head out. If it hadn't been for the 2 annoying almost teens in my back seat urging me to leave, I probably would've stayed.
So, I must've actually done it yesterday. My brake light came on at some point in the afternoon, but I'd had my e-brake pulled before, due to its poor position on the rear axle, and thought that was it. Even though it wasn't taut like before. So, the line came apart at the connection to the rear brake drum. Steve noticed it while we were taking off my rear sway bar. Another story there...noticed it was loose on one side and looks like bolt just worked loose on sway bar end link. So, as we (mostly Steve, I hate to admit) were removing the sway bar is when the leak was noticed.
I couldn't see any fluid at all in the reservoir, but still had pedal pressure. So, crimped the rear brake line (cuts off both rear brakes, which I guess is best anyway).
I had just put bigger Tundra rotors and calipers on the front, so I was glad to have that extra bite with only fronts. Drove home fine with no sway bars (never ran front anyway), although one off-ramp was a bit sketchy.
More carnage...when Rob and I were roaming Friday before anyone else was here, I was trying to go up the boat ramp bypass (I know, the bypass!), and smashed my passenger front fender into the wall, and lost the fender flare. I have repeatedly lost the driver's sides, but this was the first passenger one to go. That same smack I *may* have put some scratches on my new GoPro case (at least it's not the camera itself). :D
Didn't get any pics, but got some video of Rob getting denied on boat ramp, and just a little GoPro footage...will need to go through it. Still getting the hang of using it.
Special thanks to Steve (@URBAN_RUNNER) for all his help and following me out to the main road. And also to Jared for the brake fluid. One of the few times I didn't bring all my fluids...not again!!
Hated to leave, but had a good time while I was there!

If any member ever needs fluids in a pinch, you are welcome to check my trailer (if the storage box is unlocked), or find me, and get yourself taken care of. I usually have at least one quart off ever fluid and likely several quarts.

This really was a fantastic trip to Choccolocco. I had a great time with my group, and those guys who were there on Friday. I got denied on the boatramp bypass, but I cleared so many other trails that were fun. My favorite trail was Carnage Canyon, followed by Rubicon, and then finally Tombstone.
No carnage to report, but I'm sure I scraped the heck out of several things under the Jeep.
There was some really good spotting, as usual.

Btw, John, with no exception that bread was the best I'm ever had...very serious. Pass it along to your wife...she did very well. Kell got two bites, but I denied her on the rest!

Probably not going to drive up an obstacle you can't even walk on.
This was a great trip! And I was able to deliver revenge, and redemption from 'Rubicon'. I broke there last year. Last year was 35's and IFS. I came packin' this year. Solid axle swap, 14" ORI's and new Pitbull Rockers and beadlocks. Walked it.
Then turned around and walked it the other way.
Followed by a turn around and another pass. You get the idea. Had a grudge.

A huge Thank You to Danny and ALLSOUTH for the hook up on 37" Pitbull Rockers, and 17" TrailReady Beadlocks. Also, thanks to the mechanic 'Steve' for letting me be part of the process, and showing me all the tricks & tips of building up new beadlocks. Dude knows his craft, and pays attention to the details, which I appreciate.

It was definitely a great trip! I hated having to leave early, but still got to do a decent bit of the park. My jeep has definitely transformed since my last ride. Rk springs, synergy control arms, 37s made a massive difference. Fun getting to crawl bigger stuff. My brother-in-law was shocked at the capabilities, so that's always fun to witness. As usual, another great gatr trip!

I was winching up from that spot. Will was up by the tree. I got pulled most of the way out and Will yelled that the tree was moving or was coming down. I let off the winch and everything was fine for maybe 10 seconds. Then it began to come down and everybody scattered. I reached back and pushed Ben's (my son) head down as far as I could and crouched down as far as I could.
It was over in 5 seconds...

Where are the ledges? I can never find them. I know they're just off a main trail sorta.

When you are on Forney road, the main trail, going out of that new parking lot toward Boatramp, you take a left at the first sharp turn, then take a right on Blue Ribbon Parkway, the Ledges will be on your left. They are very easy to drive right by, you need to really keep your eye out.

My only issue was a broke a rear ARB line for my rear locker going up the Boat Ramp bypass. Boat Ramp bypass has become a winch trail unless you have big horse power of 40's

Should be a lesson from the tree "incident", as it was a pretty small one with obviously shallow roots. How high up the trunk was the cable? Obviously you want to attach the tree saver as far down as possible, but a bigger trunk is better than a smaller most of the time.

Looking at the tree beforehand, you never would have thought it would fall. Being in a creek bed with rocks didn't let the root system get very big. We had the tree saver at the very bottom.

And where it was at I"m sure it had been winched off a lot. It finally gave up.

Yep. Lesson learned. But I do think it's the tree that everyone would have picked in the situation.

Had a great time, my only carnage was my HighLift Jack broke lose, the whole bracket just broke!. scrapped the hood. My winch got a work out this trip, helping folks, glad it seems to work.
I also enjoyed my new AntiRock! not sure if I need to adjust them, but maybe when i get to talking with some guys I may, but I had a good time, did some really good trails, and helped someone that got stuck in a tree!.

Wow what a trip. So Chris rolled, what happened? Man Jared you are really lucky that the tree missed you, probably the windshield frame would not have done that much to stop it.

I was behind him, he had his front wheels hard driver trying to steer into the ridge, so the wheels where constantly catching on the side, then as soon as i see this they catch, and a quick tap of his breaks and his butt came up, and he rolled toward the passenger side, he did 1 complete roll and was about to then start a trunk to hood roll. head over ass , and the top of his roll cage hit the 2nd small tree, bounced back into the 1st small one and wedged his back passenger tire on that tree, in the position you see.
we quickly secured the back of my rig to a tree up the hill and then secured his rig with my winch so it would not go any further incase the tree broke. we called Tony and Bobby to come help as this was something that called for those with much more winching ability than any of us had.

Broke a transmission on the main trail without running a trail. Executive descion has been made for this rig. Most parts will be pulled and put on a full tube chassis. Other will be sold. Open to offers if people want some cool kid parts. Things will be listed in due time but if there is something you want now, speak.

it was not a pretty small tree. The height and diameter were adequate...it had just been used, abused and beaten on and Saturday was the day it gave up.

Uploading pics now. Almost 3gigs of photos. As for the tree... it was a stable tree and was fine up until our run at it. Danny actually broke a large root section off about 6-8" in diameter and that was the final straw that caused the issue. Strap was as low as it could go on the tree. There were no signs of it being inadequate for winching. But the root breaking and pulling a heavy butt 4 door up a rock face was enough. You could not have scripted a better ending though. I do wish it was on film somewhere as that tree hit with some serious force. I also wish I had a video of clark running to safety //LMAO// Oh Jared, I think I left my cooler in your jeep. Just bring it to harlan //;D//

"Running"...hmm. I'm sure it was funny...nothing like wet, loose rocks to make movement fast...but luckily I have cat like reflexes and a sleek, lightweight body.

I saw Jared going up 575 around exit 16 the other day I guess on his way back home. As we were coming up to it I told my wife "Hey, I know that guy", but then once I saw the damage I was like "Nope" different Jeep. Sucks to here about the misfortune. We helped a guy out in almost the same spot last time I was there. He sheared his driverside knuckle in half at the high steer mount. Most likely we winched on that same tree. Sorry about loosening the roots.
