3. Clarksr, Thurs night ride (maybe), Friday/Saturday early AM
4. Jeepster1407, Friday night Show N Shine

I'll be there early Friday morning & hitting as many trails as possible. At 2 pm I have to go back home to get the kids. I'll be back for the show n shine & staying @ the Microtel until Sunday.
Saturday we'll hit a trail early then stay @ home base for the remainder of the day. If they have another race this year I'm gonna try even harder than I did last year to win some tars.
Sunday more HB action. I'm hoping to talk my wife into driving on a trail but ....
Taj will be parked in the feild.
CB channel 7?

I plan on going to check out the show-n-shine on Friday night with the wife & chillen'. I don't know if I'll go back after that though...

If I can make it to the night ride on Thursday I will, but if not I will be there early on Fri-Sat. Just got the email last night about the times and all.
-
I've been to all of the night rides & swear EVERY year not to go on another night ride again. This year I'm staying home..... I think. Lol
I promise you its 100 times worse than sitting in Atlanta traffic. Last year we went 1 mile in 3 hours. I am not kidding.

Damn, that is sad to hear. I was really looking forward to trying to get out there. But I can see it being busy. Is it a tough ride... and thats why? Or just a lot of weekend warriors that don't know what 4-lo and a hill look like?

The latter. The most extreme "mod" for 80% there will be a vinyl decal on the hood with their jeep's name.

I had considered going to this, seemed like something my wife and daughter might actually go to with me. But at $50 a head, just seems outrageous for it not to actually be at an off-road park. I think I'll save that money and invest it at crawling for Reid.

There is no cost to go to the event if you're not riding. It is only if you want to do the obstacle course or a ride. There is a big area where vendors are setup and spectators gather to watch the Jeeps on the course.
-
The night ride has people who have never had their Jeep in 4 wheel drive. Some idiot rolled on a dirt road. Another gut was drunk & rear ended another really hard & took off thru the woods to get away. Cops got him because his daughter & husband was in the Jeep behind him. They told on him. Lol.
Its usually all dirt roads, hills, & easy stuff you could do in 2nd,....... If you had 1/2 a brain. Probably 200 Jeeps.
On year there was a uber sweet creek trail. Another year we went thru a nation forest area. The groups got split up. No one knew where we were or how to get back due to no cell service. We got back to Jasper @ 1 am.

Damn, his husband told on him...that's just dirty. I bet he isn't "too tired" in the future...payback is a bitch.

Yes, it was a gay 'ol time.
-
Well now it looks like it wants to rain on Thursday-Fri. That night ride is going to be rough with all the people on it. Hopefully Friday afternoon and Saturday arn't bad.
Now, they are having separate rides with "Georgia Bounty Runners" which are off-site? Do they normally do that? Or is this new, maybe better? Pretty sure its included in cost.
-
We'll probably go up on Saturday. We will have our granddaughter with us this time and the obstacle course will plenty of fun for her lol.

The last time we went and did the night ride we got hit in rear from a dumbass in a cj drunk as hell of course!! Then after all that he almost slammed into the front of us on a hill climb when he lost it and had no brakes! lucky for us he turned the wheel and slammed into a tree just before hitting us, he also took off but we later found him and had the cops grab him up!!!

have they given numbers for how many jeeps have registered? Seems like the last year i went it was around 1600 and traffic was awful. Its just not worth it imo. If i have to sit around in traffic i would much rather it be on a trail waiting on @Raisinhead to make it up a tiny obstacle.

Just get there early. I pulled up before 8am last year, checked it out and was gone by noon.
I'm not going if it's raining but looks like the weather is going to cooperate. My wife is going with me and I know she won't want to be out there all day. I've been invited to a private ride on some guy's property up there but not sure about that yet.

My wife said there are 1150 Jeeps pre registered. There will be another 1k: at least.
Traffic isn't too bad. If you want to go on the trails, go on Friday. They are empty. On Saturday, forget it. The place to be is home base. Very entertaining.
The Georgia Bounty Runner trails are 30 minutes from home base. You have to sign up for the rides in advance.

I don't think any of the "trails" that they take you out on for JeepFest are difficult. But I haven't been on one in 3 years or so.
-
I have heard if you have slick stock tires you may slip in the grass. So yeah its pretty extreme. //LMAO//
-
I went one year with only rear wheel drive. It was slick but I made it through every trail I hit.
-
I just got a text from a guy in line for the night ride. He's in the fifth row........... out of 15.
Its 9:30 @ night. I'm so glad I didn't go.
At some point there needs to be a limit, I think this year is mine.
If you show up this weekend it will cost you $80. I understand its for a charity but it just seems excessive.
-

It is actually $85 if you didn't pre register.
If you did pre register it was $60
Either way, no one makes you go. If you don't think it is a reasonable price for what you get, you don't have to go. Or you can go and enjoy the vendors and watch the folks play on the obstacle course for free...that's actually pretty cool. At Jeep Beach Daytona you can't get in to to watch the obstacle course, see the vendors or buy raffle tickets unless you pay the event fee.

True.
I pre registered.
I was just thinking that Crawling for Reid is a much better deal.
-
The rain has killed my plans for off roading this weekend, so I will be hitting up the vendors area at Jeepfest tomorrow around lunch time.

The parking lot is muddy. Don't take a two wheel drive vehicle up there if you have the option.
The obstacle course was really muddy as well, so most people are just hammering down on it.

Its pretty muddy but drying up. My wife drove her car out of the parking lot unassisted.
The last trail of the day I went up the "extreme" option. It was a very steep, 50 yard hill climb with roots covered in damp soil. I slammed back into a tree & it shattered out my rear glass. I spent 15 minutes getting all the glass off the ground.
There is always a bright side. The airflow thru the Jeep is amazing. I plan to remove the side windows & replace them all with tinted plexiglass. On cold or rainy days leave them in, on nice days pop them out.

Pretty sure I tried that option as well. The hill climb off "Wayne World Trail?" The Trail was pretty easy, but that hill climb was crazy. There were like 2 rocks to grab a hold of the whole way. I tried to my two attempts and failed, it was to slick. I thought the money was worth it to get out and see everything and go wheeling. It was a cluster though. I have never seen so many Jeeps. I had buddys on the easy trails saying it was taking them 1-2 hours to drive through.
Vendors had some stuff on sale, met the owner of Factor 55 and bought a Flatlink-E finally!
We ended up at GRJ Off-Road park most of Friday and Saturday. It was less packed and much more fun. I really enjoyed that place a lot. I really hope they get to stay open, it has a lot of promise.
-
Yes, it was Wayne World.
-
Yes, it was Wayne World.
You try it?
-
Yeap. It resulted in the busted rear window. I blame the wet roots, rear view mirror snapped off 2 days before JF, tree, booster seat thrown in the back of my Jeep but mostly a inattentive driver.
Busy today. Total Jeeps registered: 2199 & one King of Hammers buggy. He actually won the Bounty Hill race at almost 6 seconds but was dq'ed for not having any Jeep parts on it.
-
Went out there today and wandered around. While fun for a local event, can't believe people come from far and wide for it. If you like this event, you'll go crazy at Jeep Beach.
