Jeez man, your jeep was already sick. Scary how bad ass this thing will be.
-
Sold
-
Great deal for somebody
-
Guess we'll have another 60/70 combo is the club, although unless you're going for a V8 swap I think they're overkill.
I know I don't worry a lot about axle breakage on my TJ.

I will disagree with you. While I do attempt and conquer most of the hardest obstacles most places have to offer, I do not mindlessly beat on my 4x4 and I have broken two different front dana 60s at least three times a rear dana 70 twice all with a I6 that over 230K on the it.
-
Sold to someone in GATR?
-
Ultimately, I didn't want to worry about the PR44 up front breaking and any option to replace it meant I would be changing bolt pattern and wheels and before I molested the rear housing with trusses for the stretch I felt like this was the best time to bite the bullet. No plans for a V8 in the near term but I feel like this new axle setup gives me a strong foundation to do whatever comes next.

Who bought them?
-
Clark/Torg was fastest on the draw. He bought the axles and wheels. Glad they're going to a good home.
-
Very nice
-
@clark123456 This is total //:bs//.
OK, nice score.
-
Very cool.
-
Nice Clark
-
Still make you a deal on that 60 and rear with matching wheels for way cheaper than new but just as good.
-

Yep, I'm the lucky bidder! And I am very happy about this upgrade. I went from planning to do very little to the jeep to having to make these fit...luckily it shouldn't take too much to make work. Then on my way home from some venturing out into the crazy holiday world I realized I have even more work than I had initially considered...I have to make a full width setup fit on my trailer (new thread coming soon). And I need some new tires, eventually.
Thanks, John, for constantly doing upgrades and selling that setup to me.
-
Congrats

I'll be doing something similar to my trailer as well. Probably in a few months ish, but maybe you can get some ideas on how to do it better than me.
-
Might have to give Clark some high 5s.
And Larry, I didn't say I couldn't break the 60/70, I said I didn't worry about it.
-
Congrats on the sale John! And congrats on the buy Clark! Love when upgrades get passed down within the family.
-
Nice score, Clark. And nice upgrade, John!
Clark are you keeping them setup for coilovers? And are they setup for custom links or standard TJ arms?

They are currently setup for standard TJ arms.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do. I really want to pull the trigger on Hydro assist, ORIs, Atlas, and long arms, but I wasn't planning on spending any more money or time on the jeep for a while, now I'll be faced with another $10k that wasn't planned and countless man hours. To add to the trouble, I need to have it back rolling in March for an initial shakedown run and ready for Windrock in April, and Hale and Moab in May...I don't see that happening if I go too far with it.

Great score Clark, you are building up a high capability TJ.

Pulling the trigger on ORI's at least keeps you from having to take the coilover mounts off to add spring perches, etc. But then you've gotta put coilover towers on the frame... #richpeopleproblems. //LOL//

The coil perches and shock tabs are still on the axles, so no savings there. :(

Congrats to both parties! The ProRocks are a Damn nice set up, but your rig is one to be jealous of! The New mods are a game changer for sure
-
@clark123456 something tells me there's gonna be another topic posted soon... "Clark's winter, spring, summer build"
@jd30005 Your rig was insane as it sat, can't wait to see the next phase of your build.

@gint2 I will not be taking the Scott approach since I am limited by two major things: Money and Time. I think the plan is to get the axles under Jeep with minimal drive line and suspension changes. Then, as time and money become available, I'll make modifications. We'll see what really happens.

So true!
@clark123456 I think a work party at your house and we can get those new axles under your jeep. Believe me it helps to have extra hands when you are slinging axles around. Just ask cru9 and tcdawg.

YES, that will be on the to-do list. It was a struggle doing my current axles, solo, and the d60 is just going to be a beast. I'll reach out when I get closer to that point.

I'm fairly close and will be glad to come help.

Here's a thought. It's pretty likely you'll need a different length driveshaft, at least on the rear. If John also needs new DS his old one's might fit yours, so that including the DS in the deal could make sense. Worth some measuring?
-
Congrts to both! I'm little late to party.lol

That is an option to consider. I was planning to have both of my drive shafts adjusted at a local shop, but it would be easier to just get one that works, if the length is right. It appears, based on internet data, the D60 center of yoke is about 1.5" closer to the transfer case than the Ford8.8 center of yoke. It also appears, again, based on internet data, the Atlas II is about 2.5" shorter than the NP231. This will likely present a problem for me since my current rear drive shaft was at the very limit of design (compressed length) with my NP231 and F8.8. However, I am not sure if John's drive shaft will support the length needed with my NP231.
I just do not have the cash available to go to the Atlas at this time and I do not desire to wait on the cash to be available before I get the new axles installed. I am going to see if I can sell my cats, my mom, Kelley, or something else to scrape together some cash, but my hopes are not high!

Clark, once I get the new axles to Allsouth and work with them, we will determine what I can/can't use/modify in terms of driveshafts, control arms, etc and I'll be sure to let you know. Since we are dong the stretch in the rear and going to triangulated 4 link I expect that my current rear control arms will be available and could make life a bit easier.

may be fitment issues there too. @jd30005 has 1350 joints at the Atlas. Not sure what @clark123456 is running.

True.
I think I am going to find a way to afford an Atlas and pull the trigger on it. I will be sure to order it with the 1350 joints. @PHANTOM expect a call soon.

Afford? Or (wink, wink) "afford"? @jd30005 you may want to keep your garage locked tight!

It's funny how axle upgrades have so many dependencies. Great deal on axles leads to so many other things to make it work.

I think john should get a better atlas...just saying.

Oh, the list just keeps getting longer and the cost just keeps going up. I am very sure I will not pull the trigger on the ORIs for a while.
-
"Pretty sure"
-
You can run a 1350/1310 conversion joint for the time being. Folks i talked to at ECGS say that it should be sufficient behind a 4.slow powerplant with non KOH throttle usage.

Awesome! I'll call you or I may just come up there and pay for those tires. I also need to figure out what to do about the steering.

Thread derailment--steering? New drag link I assume.

Yep...remember that ADHD thread. LOL
New drag link I assume.
I think I'll need new everything from pitman arm connection down to TREs. John is going to try to use his current setup (Ruff Stuff 1-ton 'Y', iirc) on the new axle. If it won't work, then we'll work something out...assuming I don't get impatient. I'm broke, so my patience is pretty high.

Congrats on the axles Clark. If you are planning on ordering an Atlas I would do it ASAP as they are 6-8 weeks out on new builds currently when I spoke with AA Monday. If you end up needing a front or rear CV DS I have a few that might work for you. http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=13629.0 (http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=13629.0)
If you do go with ORIs now they are a 3-4 weeks out on new builds as well. Also, on the ORI topic add the cost of the ORI dual fill kit and Nitrogen tank to your list you will need them both. If you aren't set on going that route yet Currie has a set of frequency tuned KOH coil springs that are great with FOX tuned RRs from Wayne @ Alltech. I would run 12" out-boarded Fox's on the rear and 11" Fox's on the front with a modified upper/lower mount. On the budget side I think the stock Currie coils and big can Rancho RS9000s are a nice ride compromise.
I have run 6 different PCS steering configurations and if you have any questions about different setups feel free to contact me. I will say that even the most expensive out of box PCS kits will leave you wanting more. I can say that my current setup is just as at home on the freeway as it is at KOH.

Ok, I did pull the trigger on the Atlas. I got an email yesterday stating my Atlas would ship on the 8th; however, further in the email they stated that lead times on Atlas, Orion, etc may have longer lead times. I was confused. I think I'll send an email to find out what is going on.
I will get some measurements once I get the stuff installed. Thanks for the reminder...I forgot you had all of that for sale.

I am going to suffer through my current suspension until I get this round of mods complete. My bank account is low, so I have to hold back on some things...suspension is one.

Ok, when I get to that point, I'll reach out to you. I know Tripp is not pleased with PSC. I was considering the West Texas Offroad setup, as it is budget priced.

Run a howe set up a d to save money, run the psc ram. Hydro steering should run like a compressed system.
