The hitch vise came in handy today.  Who knew a vehicle could drive so well on three wheels, let alone go fast enough to hit the ramp will built.

Just want to say thanks to everyone at Morris on Friday. I had a great time. Really enjoyed just being back on the trails and talking with other people that have similar interests and whatnot. I hopped in with Scott early on and got to see what it was like to just drive over all the hard stuff. When Chris and Mike got there I jumped in with Chris and that guy can drive. Really surprised me with what he did with open/open. Mike got some awesome shots with the drone over on GBU and then we went back to the parking lot. After a few more donuts we headed to the far side of the park. That's when things got interesting. 3 wheel drive, seat of the pants engineering, and less than perfect bridge to cross.... I'll let someone else finish that story, just to keep everyone checking the thread constantly.

I unfortunately got 0 pics of the rescue mission.

If I had to guess it probably went something like Dave drove it and a wheel fell off. But I’m not 100%

Clarke is correct. Dem is some heavy tires. I was beating on it pretty good on the left side of Bad without issue. My 760 joints & stock shafts impressed me.

I was driving up the mnt. I started slipping so I stopped. I went to go again & it wouldn't move. The tire was wedged in the wheel well.
The problem was my lug nuts backed off & the wheel tore off 2 studs & ruined the others.
I backed down the mountain all the way to the bridge- 200 yards or so. Scott got me across the bridge & I drove it from there onto the trailer.
Damage done was a pin hole in my brake line, 5 wheel studs, caliper bolt & scratched my wheel up.
Once on the trailer, I checked my passengers side lug nuts & spun one off by hand.
I replaced my front studs with longer ones since my new wheels are a inch thicker. I'm guessing I didn't tighten them to spec.
A pair of brake lines, caliper bolt & new studs "should" fix it.

Huge thanks to all of the crew who were there to help out.
Special thanks to @Scott F.

Sounds fairly minor. Hopefully it's just what you described!

Worst case scenario is a WJ knuckle swap. I could use the better braking with these meats anyway.

Ha, ha!!!
It was actually a Milwaukee cordless impact. I might have been a little lite on the trigger.

I quit removing lug nuts by hand. I broke several studs off after a rather large bowl of Wheaties.

Saturday ride update:

Chris ,Dave & I think Mike , had to split early Sat.

Cadence and me had pulled in at 2am , hillariously see Layman still up , watchin' the fire. We said  g'nite to Chris and then we slept in our truck . We got up at 6am to sound of rain on windshield.
Thankfully it stopped after few min .

6:30am unloaded , cordials, then we headed out& crawled on that mnt from 8:30 am ,  at frantic pace ...
 we raced the weather.

I don't think we could cram more trail riding into such small window of time.

It helped that we were all really into it. So did the GMSR radios. Can't say the same for that awful trail map, tho.  [no2]

Although we only got between 4-5 hrs of riding in , it was one of the better times I've had in some time.
It was brief , hardline, fun and different, all at same time; there was only four of us of which for two ( Drew in a kick ass Dakota crawler w/ a crazy flex LA setup. & Ryan in his open '17 JKUS I think ...he flogged her open open over stuff he shouldn't have made it over) this was these guys 1st GATR ride ? I know I met @hosalabad in that sweet Blazer at AOP a few yrs back  .
@longarmwj @ILOVEDIRT , welcome to GATR.

Well, they fit-in here ,100%.

 , we all hit:

Copperhead
 Rock Garden
Turnherover [sic],
Destabilizer
Gulches
some other or two & wanted more . All before 12:30pm

Then it started to get colder.

The air smelled like rain & we were on that scary *ss mountain tht we all wanna be near when it's sorta dry....but , I was imagining it wet + tryin to get down & it made me shiver .

I sggsted we split ,as painful as that was & ultimately got home safely. can now enjoy recalling these new friends and such a great morning crawling at Morris Mountain ORV w/ them, my daughter  + GATR.

You are correct;  Drew was in a Dakota crawler w/ serious 2" aluminum longsrms that were longer than I am tall, I'm pretty sure. The engine blurbled on as if he was just along for ride until thngs would get serious; then Drew knew how to drive that rig well enough to setup proper,etc...all of us being extremely comfortable with our rigs was important to the fun. So were my sound effect spotting techniques. I must be like having a Muppet spot you thru obstacles, lol.

I'm thinking maybe it was the loose nut behind the wheel. Can't complain I got half way up before I got stuck on both diffs, some control arms and the driveshaft.  Noting broke(if you don't count center caps lol ) so that's a win in my book.

Serious carnage!

Finally got around to lying beneath her to assess whatever needs it after our suprrfast Morris Mountain ride last Saturday .  I was gonna go early this mornin down to the river & drop 3-4 Carolina rigs down in there n try for some catfish but would you believe it rained ?  [no2]

So I went out to garage...

...where after only 2 minutes I noticed something wasn't right in the pssgr wheelwell:

.. had even popped one of my zipties that support the fender liner:

New tires have a wider edge lugs than the previous tires. The bigger edge lugs on 'em  musta caught on the little corner whenever that side was stuffed up in the fender-well.

needing less corner I decided to try the Dremel  :

... failed w/ sheetmetal eating the Dremel cutting disk, so  I grabbed the 4" :

...flapped + sanded =  something like this on both sides:

you know what was next :

...ill affix a new ziptie to liner & after letting the trimmed  edges' touch-up enamel dry, I'll tape that little lamp &  hit it with some high heat Rust-Oleum flat black & call it fixed.

Pretty hardcore repair there , huh?

Those things need to be in the trash.
It’s nice to have something blocking the mud and spray from the tires from reaching the engine bay. I ran with mine off for a week and regret it immediately.

@Big Dave I've considered that I threw the rears away back in 2012) many, many times.
I've looked at nemesis and Artec or Motobilt inner fender solutions but never can bring myself to spend $200 or more per wheelwell.

None would be a consideration if we lived out in dry , arid , "proper" rock crawling region but - I refuse to soapbox rant about how deeply I hate the weather these days - instead we live in this lovely, boglike , waterlogged bottom corner of the US so like @Chris36l mentioned , it's rediculous but necessary to block bathing the sensitive jk electronics or glowing manifolds from mud.

Yeah, they are held together with RTV and Zipties but absolutely keep red clay mud off my vitals. I am gonna get the VKS or Nemesis liners someday but till then these will do plus I don't care about it looking good or not.

Ahh.. didn't realize it served a actual purpose.
