It was very wet starting out today. Sun all day dried it up a little after lunch. We had a group of five vehicles, after a long afternoon and one almost roll we made it back to camp. I don't think there were many pictures taken, some of it was caught on video. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a great day for riding.

Was an interesting ride this weekend to say the least. I bent the crap out of my front tierod, not sure if it will be drivable or not till the morning, and my winch gave out. The group I was leading got stuck on 1 trail for 7 hrs after lunch.....so much for blues being intermediates. I was stressed but everyone says they still had a blast. Had a fair bit of carnage throughout. This place has changed so much just in the 3 weeks its been since I was up here last. Don't think anyone has ever seen so much cable being pulled un one trail. On the plus side we are really proficient with snatchblocks now. Really do hope everyone did have a blast. Thanks to blue wes and scott for stepping up and helping in the absence of our staff. Ill get up the few pics I have when I get back home.

Crazy day today...
Trail 30 kicked our butts all afternoon and late into the evening. Very slippery conditions and a lot of off camber stuff made for some sketchy lines and required winches at a number of points along the way.
Didn't get off the mountain until 10:30 ET by my calculations.
Great job by and a big thanks to a number of folks. Notably Scott, Todd and Blue Wes. Others too I'm sure...

We had a good time today even though I have never seen so much cable pulling! Carnage to my rear quarter on drivers side, fender flare and tag. Thankful just for that. A few have a lot more!

Hate to hear about carnage but it goes with the territory. Glad blue wes and Scott were able to help out. Everyone is responsible for fixing their own rigs but everyone in this group is always glad to help out. Just another great thing about our club members.

I was there last weekend for the bounty and it was nasty. Park doesn't dry out fast do to a lot of coverage.
Take the tie rod and gently beat the bend out. Tube is hollow so it can break. If its not that bad it will be a little off but you can drive it. If you have to go so far as replacing, an option at the part store is the zj tie rod. Bigger than the tj but fits. Good luck.

Scott, Tazman, and I did a Saturday hard ride led by BDDSI (Sammy). Mostly we were on trail 43, the one we did downhill on Friday. This will be an excellent rail when dry but was quite a challenge being damp. No carnage occurred until near the top when Sammy discovered that he had severely bent an arm on his Currie anti-rock, plus sprung a leak in an elbow fitting for the hydro steering. Got the arm removed, and he also had a spare fitting.
Then he decided to lead us on a small detour on the trail 45 loop, which has a series of tough ledges at the enty but is otherwise fairly tame. Lots of winching ensued. At the exit we discovered a fallen tree blocking the trail, and getting around it involved knocking down/breaking a sappling. That's the point where I discovered that my winch would only spool out but not in. Sounds like a solenoid issue. After getting all of us out and back on 43, we decided to go back downhill as being without a winch on these trails is unwise. I was backing up to turn around when I heard that SNAP sound that means trouble.
The shaft on the right rear coilover had broken off cleanly near the axle, resulting in a mangled lower spring. The rod suddenly extending also apparently hit the brake caliper and broke its weld mount, so that the caliper was hanging down. The brake line was intact, so I had brakes, and since I have bump stops I was able to nurse the rig downhill to the parking and get it on the trailer.

I kept a stock tie rod as a spare even when I had an HD tie rod. Figured a badly bent one would be hell on tires on the way home.
Kirk, I run this on my 8274 instead of the 4 solenoid box. I have an in cab switch though so wires were easy

Here are a few pics from the first big obstacle. Thomas almost rolled here, it took us probably 1.5 hours to get everyone winched through here. For whatever reason this one got in my head, hell it probably took them a half an hour just guiding me through it. The rest of the guys looked like real pros going through here!

And here's the reason for the anoying rattle sound. I'm assuming this is the catalytic converter but it doesn't look like the normal cats I've seen before. Why would they put this thing so that it hangs below the frame rail?!!

I know everyone dreads the wet days but it makes for great practice. The extra challenge is fun every now and then. The learning curve is very steep on a weekend like this one...which I guess is one positive for everyone's carnage. The wet soil seemed like butter or kitchen grease smeared on the rocks, so you can really get a feel for your vehicle and throttle control and how it reacts.
My list of carnage: $9 parts store side mirror shattered, good news is my homemade mount is fine so that's a quick fix. Must have been the speed holes on the gusset that saved it //;D//

A fan relay also also quit on me so I had to run a jumper and un plug the fan when turning the truck off.
Also found this on two rims when unloading and washing off the truck. One is pretty close to the bead seat so it will probably loose air easier now when aired down. Guess I won't wont have any resale value in these rims. Bead locks are long overdue

I will have to touch up my MC fender flares with the black rustolium but no real damage that i have seen.
I unseated a tire bead on the first ledge of many on 52 and used a technique I saw Scott use with the CO2 and it worked great! Glad we were able to get everyone out saturday night and I really enjoyed leading the beginner group around Saturday, yall did great and cant wait to see you guys at the next ride...It was pure luck y'all didn't follow us and decided to head out!!!

Wes - THANKS SO MUCH for leading our group. It was clear you knew what to do eveyrtime, on time. You never got us lost and always kept a level head, even when things were getting hairy. Like Steve almost tipping over ( picture ) or my jeep smashing the rockers or pulling the fender & exhaust off.
What a trip, really had a great time on this one. Is it weird that all the damage made it feel successful?

I saw the comment about the Antirock being bent...was it the actual arm (with 5 holes drilled into it) or the links that bent? If it was the arm, did it bend sideways or up and down?

It was the arm that bent, the drivers side at the end where the link attaches. It bent in towards the centerline of the vehicle a few inches. Both drivers and passenger side links were not damaged from what I remember.

Big Thanks to Wes (@Jeepson33s) for shepherding us around all day. The trails we hit were perfect and he got us out of there on time. I was pushing my luck leaving the wife with a 2.5yr old, and a 3wk old. I can't believe many of you guys were still on the trail til 10:30p!
I had a great day with Alex (@alexspur84), and Patrick (@Patman) and Jared (@JC79). Some of the obstacles didn't look that tough, but once on them, there was no traction, or would drop 1 wheel in a hole and nearly flop it. I gave the skid plates and sliders a workout, but no carnage.
What I learned:
-KM2's far outperformed my Duratracs (market research)
-Wes can wheel!
-Alex ain't scared of the gas pedal
-Jared's kid has ice water in his veins
-Don't forget bug spray

Damn, that is some thick metal to bend! Do you know if they were aluminum or steel (black paint on steel ones)? I'm so curious because I have the Antirock and am impressed someone could bend the arms!

The arms are steel. Sammy was hitting the skinny pedal pretty hard.

Removed broken shock today, and welded caliper mount back on. Radflo won't warranty the shock. Springs are OK.
Winch needs new solenoid(s); decided to buy the pack that BigJerm recommended.

I think I was more sad to miss the poker game than the wheeling...
Me too!! there was just absolutely no way I could have made it! I had my Jeep loaded on the trailer, drove the tow pig home and was ready to roll out after my sons game Saturday. I would have got to the park at 8:00 pm that night and had to leave at 8:00 am Sunday morning //fu(// Really hate that I had to miss this!! Hope everyone had a great time!

Nice you even caught my tow strap falling out on the trail in the video! I wondered when that happened. I thought it about it today, I had a lot more fun stuck out on that trail for who knows how many hours than I did at work today!

Dispite what most people would have thought of as a bad time I too still had a blast on that trail. Even though I bent my tiered twice and blew out my winch it was just about the best time I had on a trail. All the positive attitudes and smiles on faces made all the hardships disappear. Much fun was had throughout the weekend. Cant wait to get together with you all again.

That was a great trip! Had me puckered more than once is for sure. Never seen winches being used so much in my life as we did on Saturday, but it was a blast and learned a lot from it! Look forward to the next trip!

The trail in teh video of wes was 42 or 45 black but the one we were having sooo much fun and the vedio of scott was 30 blue.

It doesn't look like much in the video, but we took Marc's stock JKU rubicon ( w/ winch) up that trail. Kinda of reminds me of the Camel trophy guys who take LR's on 31 & 33's through stuff much worse than what we did. Good technique and a good winch and gear a you can take a vehicle through most anything......it just may take a long time!

The rock on those trails is quite soft, and breaks off easily, so the ledges will be harder than they look. Add some mud and dug out holes, they get even harder. Skinny pedal is your friend.

Had a Rough Country tie rod for years on my LJ. Not much to the part so it doesn't matter much who you go with as long as it is thicker than the stock tie rod!
