Title: Choccolocco Mountain - 1/22
Post by: TravisMac on January 16, 2022, 09:45:41 AM
Small group planning to hit up Chocco next weekend to shake down some new rigs and some new parts. All are welcome to join. If you’ve never been - this is a good park for manageable bypasses and casual access trails.

Who’s in and when ya planning on coming/going?

In... likely camping Friday and Saturday,   but it's gonna be chilly,  so maybe not.

Fail... big fail.   There are a bunch of Christmas trees outside of home depot,  but they have fake (maybe real today)  snow and stuff on them.

They’re supposed to get snow Friday night, so I may try to get there before sunset Friday to setup camp and maybe head back after wheeling Saturday evening

Got room for a rider? Thinking about driving out with the camper if I can just ride second seat.

Of course! As long as you don’t mind wearing a helmet!

Can this be done in a stock truck? Not sure if the Jeep will be delivered by that time or not

Not really. Look up Choccolocco Mountain ORV on YouTube.

Maybe one access trail. You wouldn't know this, but the only 4 committed people include 2 buggies and 2 very well built jeeps (tons, 42" tires, full roll cages, etc). Other than the forest service ride, there aren't any places the group rides that would be ideal for a stock truck. Most parks get pretty narrow and have lots of larger rocks that would pose a problem for such a long wheelbase.

Thanks for posting this to the group.  I’m a very solid maybe based on a variety of factors including work, the rain/snow/weather, and anyone else wanting to go that isn’t on 40” and up. I won’t try to hang with or slow down those that are committed to this point so I’m dependent on others going. Would love to get out. You buggy boys are gonna be cold!

On our typical club rides we will have something for everyone (with at least a stock Jeep anyway). These guys were nice enough to post up this ride but they aren’t for the faint of heart. You should definitely get out with us once you have the Jeep!

A group of sub-40" tire rigs can (and should) come play and hang out.  Chocco is one of the best parks for mild to wild rigs close to GA, imho.

I wish I could make this one. Chocco is awesome and full of fun for my 35's and I really want to put all the upgrades to the test.

Unfortunately the wife and I are moving to Charlotte this weekend.

Who is planning on camping either Friday or Saturday night? i can either leave Friday around 730pm (arriving around 830 local) or just get there early Saturday. Planning to stay Saturday night if anyone else is (I have a sweet LED whip I need to try out  lmao)

Yep! Talk about bad timing lol. I still have friends and family in metro Atlanta so I'll be back and will likely use it as an excuse to come wheel with you guys.

I'm probably going to show up early Saturday, and camp that night.  I was thinking about going Friday,  but my work schedule sucks.

Besides being a bit chilly,  the forecast is awesome for chocco.

If it gets a little rain tonight it’ll be dry as a bone by Saturday. Love how that park dries out.

I have to work this weekend. Wish I could make it. Y’all enjoy.
