February for the last number of years has always been Morris Mountain and it has always been absolutely jack ass cold. Last year the Friday night camp was 25 degrees.
We changed up the February park this year in hopes that maybe the weather would change too. We shall see.
For those that will camp, I recommend camping at one of the large open spots. One is directly to your right as you are coming up the hill past the pay station. The other is at the top of the entrance hill to your left. There are no trees at these locations so you'll get more sun.

There is a nice grassy area on the East side of the RV area in front of the bath house. Electricity if you want to run an electric heater.
Pretty sure I've done my last cold weather camping after Hale. At least until I get my off-road trailer with Roof Top Tent built.
Tony, I've camped there several times in the winter months when there are typically no RVs there. Last time was this past November. Does Trey know we have a club ride that weekend? Last November he even provided a big pile of fire wood for group I was with.
I hear Pauling Co Jeepers are headed to Choccolocco that weekend to! Anybody else seen that on Facebook?
That Hale trip was my coldest camping so far. That sucked!Pretty sure I've done my last cold weather camping after Hale. At least until I get my off-road trailer with Roof Top Tent built.
Last February at MM was my personal coldest camp trip at 25. Hale took over...it was low 20's can't remember exactly.
If it is going to be that cold I'll day trip it. Mid 30's maybe, 40's I'm camping.
A good neg 20 sleeping bag will make you very comfortable...until you get up to pee.

That is not exactly how it happened, but I can tell you that stopping drinking ahead of bed time will save you a lot of pain of getting in and out of the sleeping bag and tent.A good neg 20 sleeping bag will make you very comfortable...until you get up to pee.

If I remember correctly at past events when u crash in the back of your pickup, u just roll over and pee and then roll back under the bed cover?

Ah, yes...The sun was bright that morning and I was very hungover...The bed cover offered great protection from God's flashlight. That is not exactly how it happened, but I can tell you that stopping drinking ahead of bed time will save you a lot of pain of getting in and out of the sleeping bag and tent.A good neg 20 sleeping bag will make you very comfortable...until you get up to pee.

Maybe it was the morning hang over i was thinking about that sent u into the bed of the pickup. :)
The stars are starting to align and it's looking like a good chance that I'll make it. Is anyone getting there early enough to ride Friday afternoon? Getting a little ahead of myself but starting to plan the weekend. Can't wait to see it Mark.
Thanks
Mark

No, I should have at least snapped one of the air intake. Most progress is kind of behind the scenes other than the powder coat and it's just Silver, so nothing special. Very happy with it overall though! Ups my respect for you Clark and others that are able to tackle these jobs in the garage.
Any word on the RV sites this year? Is there going to be power available? With a low of 25* I would like to have my space heater in the tent for this one. Thanks for the info.
For anyone coming Fri, I will have a grill and charcoal fired up for dinner so feel free to bring anything you want to cook.

Any word on firewood? My strategic packing of a wrangler will start tomorrow.
Winter camping tip: buy some hot hand packets and put them in your sleeping bag.
For those staying in a hotel, which one are you going for?
Winter camping tip: buy some hot hand packets and put them in your sleeping bag.I can tell you are a hiker. When weight isn't an issue it is boiling water + large nalgeen + wool sock + femoral artery. You can put it in your bag about 10 minutes prior to getting in and your bed will be nice and toasty. I don't recomend doing this with anything lesser than nalgeen quality or you will wake up with ice cycles on your nuts.

Gotta put a new yellow top in the jeep and find out who stole my tires (JOHN) and I'll be loaded. No telling what time Friday, but I'll try to escape work early. It wasn't me. Do these look like yours?
Tony are you planning to camp Saturday night?
I be staying around and camping Saturday night as well. Deciding how many beverages to pack in the cooler now.
I could only get a Hotel for Friday unless there is a cancel. I will probably stay over and sleep in the Tahoe Saturday night.
Still trying to get over later today in the RV. Question, think I will have traction problems pulling a 38 ft fifth wheel RV with 2WD Chevy 2500HD up to campground area? Only been there once with the JKU and the gravel driveway is a little steep.
On the way!
Looking forward to meeting yall. This will be my first ride with the trail riders. I have a friend that joined last year and he has enjoyed it. Can't wait till tomorrow.

Am I just missing the obvious reason this was a flop situation?

Any changes needed to the silver jeep or is it perfect?
- Torg
Perfect is a big word. I still have some upgrades to do - front axle and transfer case. As far as this round it's pretty solid. May change the front shocks. They seem to have less up travel than one that is slightly shorter due to longer body.
Oh and I may consider cutting a line in the center lugs of the tires as Scott has recommended previously on these tires to help them wrap around rock better. Not sure I have the nerve to start cutting on them just yet. I was running 6 PSI and they weren't flexing much, need to break them in more. The sidewalls are very stiff.
Take all the air out or close to it and drive around your neighborhood that way. It will help.Yep this was an awesome weekend. Big thanks and good job to Scott leading our group around. Thanks Scott, John and Rob for the help spotting and pulling some cable

Thanks to the staff for a great weekend. Couldn't have been a nicer weekend for a ride. It was also nice to meet some of my Paulding neighbors and see some really nice rigs. I look forward to seeing everyone again in March at AOP.

How'd those Blue's do?
Blues are awesome! I considered keeping my 35 blues instead of the non-blue 37s...I'll try the 37s and see if I want to go back. Why not a 37" blue or red?
