2015– plans to introduce a VM Motori diesel engine in the Wrangler which will run on urea for the environment.
Have been using VM Motori diesel engines in European Jeeps and Minivans for a long time.
Looks like the 2014 Grand Cherokee US model gets a diesel engine. TOW PIG LOL!

I always said if they ever build a Diesel Wrangler I would bite the bullet. We'll see if they actually bring it to the US
-
I thought there was a diesel in the grand currently and only towed 7k.

As others have said, I'll believe it when I see it. Land Rover has pulled the same thing for the last 15 years. Bringing diesels to the US.
Also I hope the engine has decent power. Having driven some diesels over in Europe, many of the cheaper cars have an "adequate" engine for flat land. Even a parking deck ramp begins to challenge them (then again the diesel they put in the mercedes cabs over there are completely opposite, who needs coffee when you have a Frankfurt Taxi driver trying to kill you!!). So if they put a decent engine in it, it should be good.

Danny, it will be real easy to pull that cage and drop it in a 2015 right.

I hope it will for ya but maybe they will b offer a offroaders cage option!
My Chrysler guy told me this months ago and Jko ass said he would bet me and buy me one if it happened lol

Your factory cage isn't even removable!! </LMAO/> That's what makes doing this cage a huge pain. The factory cage is welded to the tub in the rear

I was on tapatalk when I posted that or it would have a had one of these next to my comment </LMAO/> </LMAO/> </LMAO/>
I would do a RIPP SC or even a LS/hemi/diesel swap before I bought a brand new wrangler with a diesel
-
I was wondering... You Jeep is set up right!!
-
As many issues as first production runs have I wouldnt buy a wrangler diesel for 2 years after it came out. I remember when the Liberty got the CRD for a few years... Lots and lots of problems reported. Or just keep your current Wrangler and buy a diesel truck. I think in this hobby, even if you never plan to (i never did) a second vehicle for DD or tow pig becomes a goal for most.

UT OH. The Europeans are gonna freak it up:
Based on job descriptions posted on Chrysler's careers website, it appears that the American automaker is recruiting new talent for its next-generation Jeep Wrangler model due in 2016.
The descriptions reveal that the next-gen Wrangler will go on an extreme diet, much like what RAM did for its 2013 1500 pickup. This points that the Wrangler Stitch concept that Jeep showed off at this year's Moab Easter Jeep Safari will heavily influence the next-generation design.
Jeep is seeking to use high-strength steels for its frame and will scrap some of its steel body panels for lighter weight aluminum. The RAM 1500 used advanced high-strength steels to shed 30 pounds. To help increase fuel economy, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler could incorporate the air suspension found on the Grand Cherokee and RAM. Not only would it provide extra clearance when necessary, it would help reduce drag on the Wrangler at highway speeds.
Also from the job descriptions, Jeep hinted at the possibility of a diesel engine in the Wrangler as well as incorporating the automaker's eight-speed automatic transmission.

Air suspension? How am I supposed to work on that in my driveway? I don't know much about it but it sounds complicated. Atleast the diesel is good news....
-
Can anyone guess who makes that sweet little 8 speed automatic?
