Title: New ride
Post by: jkDave on April 21, 2013, 07:55:11 PM
After crushing in the bumper, cracking the wheel hub cover, and some serious rock rash on the wheels, I decided to get a trail rig to wheel the tougher areas.  I found this TJ, thought it might serve the purpose.  I'll build it up over time, but now I have a real toy, not my daily driver.  Can't wait for the next ride!!(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/22/7ajy7u3e.jpg)

Specs on the TJ? if some rock rash got you to buy a second vehicle then this is going to be an expensive hobby for you! Might as well sell the JK and join the tow rig crowd

1997 TJ with the 4 liter I6.  Rear D35 front D30.  2.25" OME suspension lift and 1.75" body lift.  The rock rash didn't get to me too bad, but each time I went out I tried more and more difficult things.  Each time the damage got a little worse.  I just didn't want to continue beating something up I was still paying for.  Eventually the TJ will become something hard core and I'll wheel the JK, but for now I'll use the TJ on the riskier stuff.  And yes, I've already thought about a tow pig. :)

I have been in the process of building this for almost a year and a half. It got its finishing touches at allsouth the past few weeks. Can't wait to do a shake down on it soon.

It's pretty, but yeah I think I'll ride this one.  I have to admit though that you make a good argument for the JK in your last post!

Welcome to the TJ club homie.  ITs a completely different beast than your JK.  Love it though,  I will certainly have my TJ for a very long time to come.   {letseat} {letseat} {letseat}  Cant wait to see what you got planned for this beast.  Get rid of that damn shovel underneath  asap if your gonna tackle harder stuff though imho.

Truth is you have to be a better driver in a TJ to do the same stuff as a JK.

Jay's TJ is sick and has changed quite a bit. I have watched it grow for years. You can search for Project Redlyner on Jeepforum for the build thread. Daily Driver & Racer.

Indeed,  I still need to make a pass or two on mine as well when I stop working so much and get a set of JK blinkers to mount instead of the square ones.

Give a time and place lets get to it... {letseat} {letseat} {peek}

Here is the Redlyne build thread from NC4x4.  Funnies s**t I've read in a long time! "...driving by some hunnies at the mall, asked them if they want to see what 7 inches of up travel looked like..."  I was crying I was laughing so hard!
