Post by: hb_hound on April 26, 2013, 12:20:43 PM
Starting the conversion to propane  //SLAMIN//
Picked up three 10 gal aluminum tanks (full) today and UPS tracking says a package from GotPropane.com will arrive Monday.

What kind of MPG will you get with propane?

My research says about 10% less than current gas set up, so I'm thinking 8 mpg (+/-)

But isnt propane cheaper than gas by the gallon? So it kinda is hard to calculate the economical side of it. Should run nice and smooth though.

That's great! Those will mount nicely on your wheel wells. From what I understand talking to some guys that run propane, 10 gal of propane = 10 gal of fuel, roughly. The bonus is no worries about engine angle except for your oil pickup. And the big bonus, no gummed up accelerator pump!

I have a 3 qt accumulater going on my 5.3 build to help with that.

I am looking forward to hearing you results on this swap, as that same kit may be in my future. It's either that or a TPI setup and the propane is looking a lot more appealing....probably why t.hey TPI is still sitting on the shelf.

Good score on the aluminum tanks, they save you a little weight. Going to run mounts for two and keep the third as a spare to swap on from the trailer?

I got a great deal on the tanks (3 for $375 including the propane)
Yes, the plan is two mounted in the Jeep and one on the trailer for a spare.
